    Thank you for your video.
    I did a couple tests with the VRX as is and was a bit disappointed by the range of the stock system compared to what I was able to achieve with my older analog setups (2 vs 8 km). It seems that I will have to make that upgrade too.

    I want to use Triple feed patches. The round ones. Would I be able to use them with the mounts on this vid? If not, would you have a link to a thingiverse design for a triple feed patch that would work with the print for the VRX unit with the slot rails?

    • @windfpv

      This is because you would want Ant 1 and Ant2 to have the same antenna, and also have ant3 and ant4 to have the same stuff too

    Can there rise problems (interference for example, signal distortion) with the routing of the antenna rf-pigtails directly over the electronic components of the board?

    • @windfpv
      @windfpv  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      actually, in RF point of view, it should not impose a problem UNLESS the antenna installed are unbalanced (coax shield becomes part of the antenna due to the improper design). Stock WS antenna are unbalanced. With good antenna though it should work perfectly. I got 35km after doing the mod and using TrueRC x2-airs ad Geprc triple feed patches.

      @@windfpv So it's basically a good idea to invest in quality antennas in the first place, no matter the pattern/usecase (omni/directional). Thank You very much.

    What is the reason for Ant1 is better for long range? For telemetry?

    • @windfpv
      @windfpv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For retransmission of packets, basically the range will be depending on both the tx and Rx antenna on the vrx, and the antenna on the vtx. Not like analog systems that would only depend on the range brought by the vtx antenna and vRx antenna.

    • @mohamedboyah7722
      @mohamedboyah7722 ปีที่แล้ว

      The transmite antenna tx is the right one face to vrx if you boost this antenna you well get better réception so mor range , i boost all my antenna in my vrx i get better penetration + mor range over 1km in 200mw mode

    • @windfpv

      Not necessarily the patch, check where the ANT1 ufl port is connected.

  • @kandredfpv
    @kandredfpv ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I really don't get how Caddx could put so much into developing this awesome VRX then crippled it by adding LHCP patches and RP-SMA connectors. I'm sure most pilots will inadvertently toss on RHCP omnis (as I initially did), end up with poor range and image quality and then blame the Walksnail system. 😞

    • @windfpv
      @windfpv  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      indeed, WS should have opted to put some SMA, and not built in patches...

    • @EnglishTurbines
      @EnglishTurbines ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why?...everyone knows the HD systems use LHCP antennas?...🤔😳🙄🇬🇧

    • @windfpv
      @windfpv  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      actually, the reason why DJI is using LHCP is to not swamp out most of the analog 5.8GHz flyers that fly on RHCP. BUT that DOES NOT imply that HD systems need to use LHCP. In fact you can use either RHCP or LHCP. It does not matter as long as you have the polarizations matching. Even HDzero didn't pressure the users to use LHCP, giving the users the freedom to choose which polarization to use. Now if you ask why I opted to use RHCP, it's because I have a lot of 5.8GHz RHCP antenna in my box of stuff, and I want to use my high gain ones, which means I wont be using the LHCP patches on the vrx, thus the conversion.
      Again, this mod is not for everyone. If you prefer LHCP, then stick with it, or if you prefer to use the stock patches then stick with it. Personally I dont want to use it, especially for my kind of flying, long range and stuff and mostly fixed wing.

    • @EnglishTurbines
      @EnglishTurbines ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@windfpv Yes, I get it you've loads of RHCP 5.8g antennas...I don't have any because I use 1.2g linear for low, range flying...I've always found CP antennas pretty crap on 5.8g analogue. I have TrueRC antennas on my Avata Goggles too..🤔😳😳😏😏🇬🇧

    • @windfpv
      @windfpv  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Im mostly on 1.3GHz as well for my long range or low altitude flights in the videos posted here in my channel. I have converted all my planes to 1.3GHz that's why I got a lot of 5.8GHz RHCP that used to be on my setups before

  • @ren0291
    @ren0291 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello WindFPV, i followed your vid to upgrade the antennas, 2x truerc x2 air for the patches, 2x TrueRC OCP 5.8GHz Antennas for the omni on top, but the range is worse than with the stock antennas... What do you think is wrong?
    I put sma connectors, and rhcp antennas, rhcp on the vtx also..

    • @windfpv
      @windfpv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Have you checked the connectors? Top ports are using rpsma

    • @ren0291
      @ren0291 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@windfpv i changed every connectors from rpsma to sma, top ones included. I checked every ufl connectors inside the vrx, and its ok. The only thing ive changed compared to the stock installation is: the antenna on the vtx is not directly connected to the vtx, it is ufl from the vtx to a sma connector on a tpu print and then the antenna is connected to that sma connector. Do you think it could come from that?

    • @windfpv
      @windfpv  ปีที่แล้ว

      not really, since I also use U.FL to SMA on my VTX's... You might want to play with channels, bitrate and power output perhaps. Make sure all antenna have the same polarization

      @windfpv  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can optimize your penetration and range as you can put the best antenna out there for your needs. Regardless if lhcp or rhcp, as long as the polarizations on vtx and vRx antenna are the same. The good thing is that you can totally remove the built in patches which are not performing really well in most cases, and put a proper antenna to replace it

    • @windfpv
      @windfpv  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      you can use TFP on all ports, or x2-airs on all. The only thing you want to check is the quality of the antenna, since TFP is an opensource design, anyone who has the tools can build one, but not everyone has the right instrumentation device to measure the performance. It means that not all TFP are made the same as the original design. While with TrueRC, it is designed with consistency on the hardware, with trueRC brand you buy with confidence as they really got the the right tools for the right job. Price wise, the TrueRC antenna just like VAS are tagged higher than opensource ones, of course. Mainly because of the R&D costs involved.

Are you aware that there are batches that had the transmitting antenna on one of the patches and there are batches of the vrx that has the transmitting antenna on one of the antenna on top? The best way to check is to look for the marking on the PCB, where you find the ANT1 that's your transmitting antenna. No mistakes on that.
