    I like to think I chose some good gift ideas for a wide range of budgets starting from about £5. All thoughts are my own and I encourage everyone to shop around and seek alternative opinions. 🎄🎄🎄

      The Reload Kit is very hard to resist. It's worth getting just for the ubiquitous rubberised pinning mats alone; the other goodies in there make the deal even sweeter.

    Countless times my "Covert Companion" has saved the day! I know people bust his chops but it has served me well, just saying!

      Couldn’t agree more. I’ve got one, and it’s funny cause the pick set you keep with you at all times is better than a “better set” you left at home.

    It's not something that everyone would enjoy, but I'm a big fan of modestly equipped pinning kits. You can get starter kits and some with additional tools for a bit more outlay from the likes of Southcoast ("southcoastlockbits" on eBay, no affiliation) and they can be a useful thing to have around once the recipient is starting to dabble with assembling or servicing locks. Nowadays the Southcoast sets have a wider range of security pins, something that I really appreciate. If you already have the parts and are already into the hobby then you could buy a cheap storage box and make up your own pinning/spares kit to give as a personalised gift, based on what you have & what you think the recipient may need. I'd also consider a Southord C801 pick set if your budget will stretch to it and if the recipient is in UK/Europe, or a Southord MPXS14 set if they're in the US.

    Someone who is already into lockpicking might enjoy tools for locks other than pin tumblers, e.g. tubular locks, disc detainer locks and dimple locks. Obviously, choosing the right tools (and some corresponding locks) and making sure that the receiver does not have those tools yet is a bit of a challenge. Something every lock picker needs sooner or later, and is useful outside lock picking too, is a rotary tool (e.g. Dremel).

    • @LockNoob

      Always good to ask a picker what they might want first 👍

    I would buy that. I was already checking video description hoping for a link where to buy it, was only halfway through the video at that point. While dedicated tools/picks will always do a better job, it does what multitools are for: helping out in a pinch

    I have the Scrooge pins- love them. The books are an absolute to have in any collection. I have the Sparrows Locks and Shots on order- the caps are only to ensure that the goodies inside the glasses don’t move ( and potentially damage the glasses) during shipment. The whole drinking from a chipped glass is not appealing.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m so glad you like the pins!

    I love my Multipick jack knife picking tool 👌
    These sparrows shot glasses look fun👍
    Another shopping idea: locks 🔒
    The lock pickers united belt ranking list can be a good shopping guide if you roughly know which "belt" the person is picking at 👌

      Yeah, locks come in all price ranges and you just can't have too many of them. I told my significant other "if someone needs a gift idea for me, craft beer and locks are always most welcome".

    Omggg I need a jackknife, or one like it. Just hard to justify purchase. As I’m honestly happy to have the picks I got. But is a goal. Great stuff. I want it all🤷🏼😂. Good stuff. Love the Skull print sticker and T. Will ask for one on my bday. As I’d like to be a better supporter of ur pickin. Best wishes!

    OMG I love those hanayama puzzles! I must have at least 30 of them now, but anything less than level 6 expect to be solved within an hour.
    My banggood pick set is actually my usual goto set, not as nice as my sparrows picks, but they do get me into any lock in my own skill level, but I should mention, I added a couple more rakes and a bunch more turning tools to it.
    My favorite jackknife is the one with the 4 TOK tools stuck to the sides with magnets and 6 different wipers in the back, but I can never remember the name of it.
    I kinda thought a good gift for lock pickers would be whatever "other gift" but instead of wrapping it, put it in something that is locked with the key inside.

    Nice recommendations. I'm going to definitely get myself the Huzzle. Looks like good fun! I believe the caps on the Sparrows shot glasses are to turn them into storage containers for pins, springs, circlips, etc. Do they stay on well? I looked at that set when I was happily ordering my Scrooge pins (finally) and decided to hold off.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Caps do hold on ok, but I wouldn’t want to store stuff in them myself

    Any budget friendly beginner lock pick sets? I’d like to add Sparrow Tuxedo nightschool with core trainer, reload and master pinning kit when funds permit. But my 12y/o daughter wants a lock pick set for Xmas so was considering the Lokko beginner box or cheaper Chinese versions with clear locks to get her something she can start with. Any opinion?

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did suggest 2 budget pick sets. Most of the main lock pick manufacturers will also do smaller kits for under £50 too

    I have the Southord jackknife, the Lockmaster and the Swick. The Swick is hands down the best one. More pick choices and way more tension wrenches.(8 wrenches i believe) But very pricey. The Lockmaster is very good. Well made and sturdy. Well worth the 40 or so bucks. The Southord is not worth the money. The picks wobble. ALOT. The Multipick looks EXACTLY like the Southord so id pass on that one. I do want to get LPLs covert companion, just to round out my collection.

    • @sear70
      @sear70 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even though southord and multipick look the same, in my opinion southord is a great product. But the multipick is a superior product.

    • @michellereed2535
      @michellereed2535 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sear70 Since i dont have the Multipick version i cannot dispute this. I can however say I do not agree with your assessment about the southord one. As i said.. the picks do not lock down. They wobble. Not at all conducive to Lockpicking. Especially for those of us that are just average pickers.
