Now that is how you make a diy video! Well done!! No blabbering, No run on sentences, no ideology projections. Just straight up materials, and construction!!! :D
Nice, those filters work, I've built similar ones plus some other experimental units. I built a 20 gallon sump with a trickle filter using only a Rubbermaid tub, a 5 gallon plastic bucket, some lava rock and a few plumbing parts. And of course I used a pump.
I'm watching him making a canister filter from a jar. I'm like "Okay he can make a filter". Then he start building the whole aquascape. I'm like "okay he knows what he's doing" 😂
Its truly amazing how tons of folks in other countries utilize everyday items to create awesome inventions without just going to the store or ordering stuff online. Always impresses me.
I don't know why But most diy electronics enthusiasts end up on aquarium Not saying it as a bad thing But it's a common thing Yes i am also a diy electronic guy After 2years of that craze i also developed a fond for planted aquarium. Now i am double crazy about diy My whole aquarium is diy Glass soil Lights filter But one thing is clear This guy is putting a lot of effort in making his work perfect
The problem with not using trays is that when you have to change the floss (filter pad) on the bottom, you have to pour out all of the rocks and bio media to get to it. This is very cumbersome. I still enjoy watching how people make their own filters.
I'm thinking to build that filter as a secondary one. I get the water you placed at the minute 7.20 belongs to another tank in use. Did you add some used biomedia to accelerate the growth of the good bacteria? Great video. I love the landscaping.
I didnt know your also an aquascaper creative channel its my first time seeing you doing aquascape not just diy, Great work? Hoping to see u do more aquascape
Could you please share the name of the accessories you used on this project? Like the blue and black things to connect the hoses and the stones? Thank you. Greetings from Panama 🇵🇦
For future viewers, those are push to connect fittings. When you use those, make sure you cut the tubing straight across so that it sits flush or you'll risk leaking.
I've built all types of filters over the years but my favorite was one to filter a two hundred and fifty gallon tank. I took a ten gallon tank and put it on a stand that made the top even with the top of the aquarium. Divided the ten gallon with a sheet of plexi that divided the tank by a third and had the plexi end on top of some eggcrate that was raised off the tank bottom. I cut three sheets of one inch foam to fit in the 2/3 section of the tank sitting on the egg crate and had a two inch siphon from the big tank into the filter. On the 1/3 side I put a submersible pump and a hose blowing the water across the large tank. About every two weeks I'd take the top foam filter out and rinse it and put it back in. I could tell when it needed cleaning by the water level dropping in the pump chamber. As close to a zero cost and zero labor filter as I've ever built.
nice little system ive been into the fish tank honey for over 35 years the one thing i like to do is house all my filtration inside one water tight catch basin i then install battery operated audible water detection alarms on the bottom of that basin in gre event of any leak or malfunction the alarm is sounded and you can easily trouble shoot the system and repair whats needed without having all of your tanks water a;ll over the floor that system is something i learned to do after having failures i know incorporate that into custom Cabinetry i build for my tank stands that also hides all my filtration and muffles the noise to make the entire setup more pleasant to be around btw my last build was a 250 gallon tank
These are great if you have room to put it at tank level. If you are trying to keep a big homemade filter underneath your tank you'd likely to have problems because of the pressure on the canister tho.

That's a cool idea, although I am concerned for those neons in there. Not actually, it's likely it was immediately recorded after they were put in, so they didn't color up. But, if you would have let that whole system cycle for a while and let those fish color up and that mat grow out, that'd be a heckin pretty tank for sure.
Thats is what concerned me too...the filter is not cycled.. those fish will be dead soon

@Creative Channel the edge of the pipe you have use a filter type things actually what was that? what is the name of that?
@creativechannel can you provide a complete supplies list for this project? I'd like to do this for some of my tanks.
