If power is turned off, the filter continues to suck water from the aquarium and fills up with pressure causing the plastic lid to warp and cause leakage. How to automatically turn off the suction too if power goes off?
Keep it over the tank
The whole idea of a canister filter is to hide the filter behind or under the tank if one can hide. In my case it's behind.
It's better to make a top filter. I did that. No worries of internal pressure and leakages. The only thing is the motor will be in the tank and visible which is fine. Cleaning of water through layers of filters is still the same as the canister filter and easy to maintain.
U can use a solenoid valve

Can I use it for 2 and half feet length turtle tank
Great idea BUT when the sponges get clogged which it would at some stage water will leak out of the box 100%...need an O RING

What happens if the pump is turned off.
Will there be overflow of water
If the pump stop, the water will overflow in the plastic box
in our contry the electricity is not avaliable all ge time so...... any idea?
