I've unknowingly applied a few of these elements in my story. The protagonist and antagonist are there, representing change vs continuity, but I also added the allies, a false ally (with their own motives) and a false enemy. The distinction between the protagonist and the false enemy is really what gives the story power.

Sometimes it is enough to have a good grasp of the fundamentals intuitively without knowing any theoretical processes.
Great to hear that you already managed to develop your characters in a sort of interwoven way 🙂

And yes, there has been some amazing support lately, growing the channel as a result. I'll do my best to keep this up, and to justify the subs given already.

Finally, someone explained the four-corner opposition in a clear way for my brain to grasp... 🥺 I wish you'd given a few examples from books/movies, but it's still super helpful, thanks! 😊

Your videos are great. You scrambled my brain into writing a story I call phoenix protocol. My main protagonists is ripped out of her live grows a relationship she doesn’t understand and lives in a sci-fi setting so alien she wouldn’t survive even it the environment is forthcoming and friendly.

@@TheTaleTinkerer funny thing is, I started with four main chars in two seperate stories I'm writing and they all embody this process accidentally! (Maybe subconsciously?) :D

You explain well why American fantasy is that repetitive and rarely original. Neo or Buffy, which are the epitome of American SF and fantasy heroes are born and raised for the job. All of these are Star Wars repetitions we are mostly fed up with. Daenerys is more interesting, but she becomes so at the end of the series - never reached that point in the books. And we cannot say Weiss and Benioff got really applauded for their work. Though they were far better than George.
Why not read real litterature ? Oh it’s too clever. Sure, the Name of the Wind is a bit above the rest. But it has no end because it would end with the usual tropes. If you keep doing what has been made for 50 years, our genre will surely die…
