Love your Ted talk! I was diagnosed with T1D, in 1969. I'm now 60 years old... Know, that you are strong, and you can do anything! Your bravery is amazing! Bravo, on your example, and passion! ❣
Good to here man. I'm 18, T1D of 7 years, good to know as long as I take care of myself I can live that long. I was scared that even if I did take care of myself I wasn't going to make it to atleast 50 so thank you. As for being a teenager in this millenia and worrying what people were thinking of me I've just accepted it and moved on. Thank you, again.
@@mahinurrahman1334 You may want to go to Facebook, where you can join different groups of T1 Diabetic, or Type 2... Here are a couple; Type 1 Diabetic Adults, (T1s only), Juicebox Podcast: Type 1 Diabetes, TypeOneNormal, Typeonegrit Also, get the book, by Dr. Bernstein entitled; "The Diabetes Solution." He is also on TH-cam! There are many others in TH-cam as well. They also have "how-two", instructions for devices, ie. Dexcoms, etc. I hope this helps! I've been a Diabetic for 53 years now, and I'm currently 62 years old. Best to you!
“My mom told me everyone has something” My mom told me the same thing after I was diagnosed too. This small realization has helped me throughout my 23 years with the disease.
Middle school and high school was really tough for me, I hated being different. It took me a long time to get over it. After being diagnosed 23 years ago, I'm finally being more open about it. Stay strong everyone.

It's so lucky when you have a parent with it too, I was diagnosed when I was 9, and I'm glad my mom was able to coach me and set me up for success. To all the diabetics out there, take care of yourself. It will help you in the long run.
I'm 15 and I Just found out on April the 25th 2018 I have type 1 diabetes and I drank so much water and when I woke up every morning I had a dry mouth and it was really hard for me when I was told that I had type 1 diabetes, But look the point is never give up and never lose hope because your not alone
Angry Panda I have had T1D since I was 2 and am 14 now. You’re doing amazing. You are strong. I had it from a young age so everything is like second nature. I know it’s probably a lot harder for you to adjust. Just remember what you said, you are not alone.
Well said, Sophia. I'm proud of you. I am glad to be part of JDRF with you. From one T1D to another, I get it. We are in this together and have several others helping as well. You are inspiring.
I'm sharing this everywhere I can! See below: Diabetes type 1 and 2 can be cured. So Say the experts. 2 Canadian Doctors that work at 'Sick Kids' hospital are neuro scientists. They have discovered before 2006 that concentrated capsaicin from Chilies injected into pancreatic organs of rats with diabetes type 1, had their diabetes REVERSED within 24 hours. You can google 'Dr Michael Dosch and Capsaicin'. In 2006 they 'carefully' made known to the public that they were totally amazed at what they had found! One single high dose of Capsaicin awakened or activated the Pancreatic nervous system and it started producing Insulin AGAIN. Dr Dosch didn't elaborate..... I wrote to him and still waiting for his reply.... In the Philipines around 5 years ago, Dr. Jaime Dy-Liacco, Doctor of Metabolic Medicine, an 82 year old, told the public (free of charge) that Chillies and Sea salt mixed together in high dose can reverse Diabetes. He explains that Diabetes can be reversed when you fix the mineral deficiencies such as Zn, Chromium, Vanadium, Manganese, Germanium, and copper. If you google these trace minerals separately and look at PUBMED scientific research papers you'll see lots of evidence proving that these trace minerals are Crucial for Glucose tolerance, enzymatic reactions and the body's hormonal system. Different people might have different deficiencies. Even Lithium plays a crucial role in glucose metabolism, and there are others like Mg etc etc... Putting it all together, this is what you can do: Take about 300g of Red spicy chilli. Cut into small pieces and put it in a sterilised GLASS jar. Cover with 20% Alcoholic Rice wine. The wine will Extract the Spicy Capsaicim. Add about 5 Table Spoons of UNREFINED ORGANIC SEA SALT (which contains about 80 + natural minerals with trace minerals that are really hard to find in today's diet and drinking water. Cover and Place in warm place. In about 7 days time, you can consume use 1 table spoon of this liquid several times a day with a little food and water. I'd do this for about about 7-14 days and repeat the recipe if necessary. Monitor your glucose level after the 1st 24 hours and every day afterwards. In addition to this I will Make a green leafy Smoothie with 2 Table Spoons of Assorted Seeds, like Pumpkin seeds (high in ZN and Mg), Sunflower, seeds, Flax seeds, Sesame seeds, Poppy seeds (high in Chromium) and Fennel Seeds, with a couple of bananas for taste. Take this at least 2ce daily. * The 1st recipe will activate your Pancreatic Nerves. And the Sea SALT will Supply Missing TRace elements to restore Pancreatic Cellular Function. * The 2nd recipe will help Supplement additional NATURAL concentrated trace minerals to your daily diet. Do NOT TAKE artificial Supplements. It can be dangerous and upset the delicate Homeostatic Mineral Balance and make your condition worse. Eat a diet hight in Whole unrefined Plant-Based Foods, with plenty of Spices and Herbs for additional minerals. Avoid Milk, Wheat, Soy, Peanuts and unrefined processed foods and sugars that serve as ANTI-Nutrients and block your body's ability to absorb vitamins and minerals. Stop and reduce all forms of medications and drugs that interfere with Mineral absorption. Look for natural alternatives and home remedies. Supplement with 3g Sodium Ascorbate (VitC) every 4-6 hours , and 5 g of Mg Chloride every 6 hours. This will drastically reduce Intra-Cellular Inflammation and allow Pancreatic Cells to regenerate Faster. If you experience loose bowels, this will be normal, but if it continues after 3 days or so, reduce the dosage of VIT C and Mg. Bless you!!! Get well!
It is been 10 years since I was diagnosed with diabetes. I am living with and honestly I can do anything that a normal person can do. Believe all the type 1s we have power we can do anything!!!!! Means anything
What a tremendous speaker you are, Sophia! Thank you for sharing your story, and for showing that any obstacle can be turned into an opportunity. Keep up the great work!
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on May 17th 2004 at age 14. I was actually quite relieved that it "only" was type 1 diabetes. I thought I was dying of cancer or something. I almost went into a coma, and eventually spent 10 days in the hospital after being taken there with an ambulance. Remember to take care of yourself - it's a dangerous illness if you don't!

Heman Rocks Type 1 diabetes can’t be cured, because it’s a complete absence of endogenous insulin. That doesn’t just come back due to diet. Type 1 isn’t treated with pills either, but insulin injections. Diet is a big part in treating all types of diabetes, though.
I am 11 and have had it since I was born. Earlier I had a blood sugar of 37! That’s in mg/dL. Diabetes is a series of ups and downs but we will get through it.
I remember being diagnosed with T1D 36 years ago, I remember the nervous waiting for test results and the feeling of helplessness. Seeing you talk about it like this is an inspiration I hope lots of young people see this and see that they can do anything they want. Stay strong go far.
At 26, loosing hope, under depression, taking pills but yet not left my routine, 6 am yoga, tried mill but still loosing hope , can't work for 12 hrs, confused, anxious, again hoping for light
I was diagnosed at 27 years old, I was living my best life while serving in the Navy. Never thought I would get it, T1 took my career and a big part of my life away from me. Now I'm 30 and my life is going strong. We can make it in this world. 🤘🤘🤘
@LilDonut Hello, I know this is a long shot but are you willing to chat a bit about the med board process? I am 27 and was just diagnosed with T1D and am currently serving in the USAF. I’m in the dark about the process and how long it may take and would love some insight.
i wish i would have had friends like that when I was diagnosed. When i told my best friend i had diabetes and was in the hospital she didn't even respond for 3 weeks. I have had to give up soooo much for diabetes. Good thing you're doing good with it.
Bruh she is a terrible friend. I hope you know that was wrong of her, and that is a terrible way to treat anyone. I don't have diabetes, but it just seems horrible. I really hope things get better with you. God be with yall
I'm type 1 diabetic for 18years and yes it is terrible. All my family have let me down.I have come to Lord and he has blessed me with some of the most wonderful people

Thank you so much for this TED talk I got diagnosed last week with type 1 diabetes and I went through a DKA so hearing your story helps me feel supported 💕❤️
My husband was diagnosed at 28 years old one year ago. We have an 8 month old daughter and I pray to God that she never gets it. I also pray he is cured too! I really hope for a cure and a miracle!
The worst part about this disease is that it makes too much money. It has a cure that no one will ever receive. I mean think about it, a cure means no more insulin, needle tips, pumps, blood glucose monitors, and a whole branch if doctors specialized in this field.
So are so inspirational I was diagnosed around 10 years ago and it has been hard but you saying all you said is amazing and it just boosted my confidence in my diabetes so much thank you
I remember the part when she said that her mom said that she wished she could take it from her my parents say that a lot to me because I know she cares about me a lot my dad says the same thing you are amazing!

awww this is sooooo good I wish I could talk about my experience but I was only 3 when I was diagnosed, I've had it for 10 years, and something that's really helped me was diabetes camp it's so fun and everyone there has diabetes, it reminds me that I'm not alone.
omg i loved going to diabetes camp back in the day! i went every year until about 3 years ago when i aged out of it. that was always the best week of summer for me haha
“Inhale the future and exhale the past” wow thank you for sharing your story, I had tears throughout but that quote hit me hard. I was diagnosed Type 1 when I was 13, 30 now. I’ve had bad days and worse weeks, but keep on striving to get at a good level. Your story was awesome and very relatable, you should be proud of what you’ve done :)

I was diagnosed when I was 2 years old now I’m 15 years old bout to be 16 in December. I hate diabetes and wish for a cure I really do my mom is the best person in my life she loves me and takes care of me she hopes for a cure and I wish for a cure. I just get super sad when I see my self growing up and my mom to I cry every time I love her a lot and don’t wanna loose hope for a cure I really do wish for a cure.
These comments are making me feel more welcomed in the world, I was diagnosed 5 years ago, and it was a very tough time. But now I know I’m not the only person dealing with this problem.
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was just 18 years old more than that what gave me a pain was my ex broke up with me just after knowing I had type 1 diabetes, since than I thought none will love or will see so I went through depression problem than i was hospitalized and after that I realized that I should love myself 😊 so with that positive thought I am living my new life 🤗😃
I got type 1 diabetes when I was 8 almost 5 years ago, It’s been rough through the past few years, especially middle school. My friends would want to have sleepovers with me every weekend but my parents didn’t want to worry about my blood sugar every time so I wasn’t able to go a lot and I felt so left out. I’m currently going to be going in 8th grade soon, and yes I’m nervous for high school, I know it’s going to be hard but I’ll try to get through it as best as I can. But anyone who has gotten type 1 it’s going to be okay.
managing sleepovers with t1d can be really hard, i feel you 😞 do you have a cgm by any chance? i have a dexcom, and while i haven’t had any sleepovers in a minute, it was super helpful in taking care of my blood sugar whenever i was away from home overnight. in terms of going into high school, if you live in the us, i would highly *highly* recommend looking into a 504 plan if you don’t already have one. my family and my school counselors have a meeting every year to make sure i have the right accommodations to be able to manage my blood sugar in class, during standardized testing, etc. it’s a legal document that basically states your rights and any procedures for managing t1d at school. it really makes it so much easier when dealing with teachers who would otherwise make you put your pump/phone/meter away when you need it, and i wish i could have had a 504 plan in place sooner. also, if you’re at all nervous about standing out when you have to test/bolus/correct/etc.: i’ve definitely been there, and it does feel awkward sometimes. but taking care of yourself is so much more important than fitting in. your needs take priority. if you need to eat or give insulin during class, you have that right. your friends and classmates should respect that. tl;dr: having t1d as a student can be really challenging and it’s definitely a lot more responsibility than a lot of kids have to deal with, but having the right technology and documents to help you can make it so much easier. i hope you’re doing well and that the transition from middle to high school goes well for you- stay safe + take care! 💛

My parents accuse me of sneaking food when my blood is high. I don't feel comfortable showing them my sugar. I have nightmares every night. Im starving my self because I don't have enough insulin and my mom looks mad whenever i run low and we cant get it. I have panic attacks and no one to turn to. Ive never meet another diabetic in my life but my sister who I cant confined in. I went to the only person I know and ive help her through so much and when i told her my fears of the insulin she told me to shut up that she was talking to a boy. Im alone and I get accused whenever my blood goes high or low. I cant do anything without worry about the damn diabetics. I had it since i was nine. Im 15 now and I dont want to grow up because the stress is to much. And right now i only have too days of insulin left with starving myself but i have to reload my pump and that will bring to a day. Im so scared. Am I being punished?
Hi, I'm Amelia, I'm 16, I was diagnosed when I was 3. Mysituation is a little different, but if you would like to talk with someone who gets through diabetes too, let me know down in the comment. I think maybe together would be easier :)
Hey there.. I know how you feel because I am going through the same thing but it's gonna be fine .Thats what I told myself...let's hope for our best and different things to get ourselves on track
@@Dude-cf8hb I don't know the exact thing but starving causes low blood sugar as you are not eating food and your body is not making glucose and your insulin boost the process . Your body glucose is decreased not because of increase in insulin level but because you didn't eat ... I hope it is helpful...
I just got diagnosed at 19. Nothing about my body feels different but I can feel my mental state start to crumble and I'm starting to develop some bad anxiety and panic attacks. It's something I can't run away from and everytime its time to eat, the anxiety flares up.
Am diabetic from 9years old, I went through lot of difficulty in my life when I was in my school, now am young women to fight all those feelings in me. My friends ignored me bcoz am diabetic, this made me hurt and I felt to leave my school, but my mom supported tht ur normal like others, I hve completed my education and I got married to my school friend who understands me like God and now am happy
I still struggle to successfully manage Type 1 diabetes. I was diagnosed at only 3 years old. You get the weird questions from people like “what were your parents feeding you?” It’s mostly ignorance on their part, but still can be annoying. I continue pray for a cure as well as to be able to manage my glucose levels and A1C better.
I been diagnosed for a year and I found I had it the hard way by puking and being really sick and having very bad back problems so then I went to the hospital screaming and found out I had type one diabetes. Stay strong out there 💪❤️
I also have type 1 diabetes and in school I had gotten made fun of 24/7 but nobody understood and I'm not gonna lie there have been beyond the amount of tough moments because of my diabetes and so far nothing good has come from it. Nobody at my school cared and I was just treated like a weirdo. They don't understand that I didn't do anything to deserve it, it just happened. I really wish that one day I can do great things like this girl, I just hope that I could do something good one day and use my diabetes as an advantage.
Layla Smith I'm sorry you had a horrible school experience. I was diagnosed 14/09/10. School was horrible and I was called 'diabetes girl'. It's cliche but it gets better. You are so much stronger, more experienced and better than those bullies could ever be. Keep going 💪 I know you can do it. WE can do it.
I got it at 2 years old. My guess is vaccines. I forget I even have it nowadays. Honestly, I thought life was harder too. wanting people to understand never helped. The thing that really saved my life, I had to stop acting like a diabetic. I had to act like sugar levels didntt affect me mentally, and they stopped affecting me. Most of the bs I dealt with as a kid, same for you probably, is what doctors and parents told you a diabetic acts like and you adopted those behaviors. Maybe not, but i did until I didn’t.
I’m only 12 but I’ve had t1d for a year now, listening to Sophia talks feel like she felt similar to how I did, the night I went to the hospital I was meant to die. And I’m grateful that I’m okay now and I can listen to others who face similar things to me day to day
My 9 year old cousin was diagnosed when he was 2, my brother was diagnosed a year before me and I was diagnosed 5 years ago, my aunt was diagnosed a few weeks or a month after me and we're all just living our lives.
your great Sophia thank you for a kind specking to all of us. my sister was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last year. thank strong girl don't ever give up from Zachary schopper
I've had diabetes for years and you just gotta learn to accept it because it is now life. If you don't accept that means your are fighting against life which will always turn negative because no one can beat life!! So just chill out, accept, let it become the norm for you and bam life is good no struggles and off you go cruising down the street.
Hey girl! I just wanted to stop in and say I am a 2019 children’s congress delegate, and seeing this, you inspired me to sign up for my local TedX event and i have an audition! thank you for being an inspiration 💗
im 13. ive had diabetes since i was 3. i remember the hospital i remember screaming bc i didnt want them to put the iv in. ive struggled with alot of mental health. im tired of people asking me if i can have sugar or saying that i have it bc i eat to much. that not how u get diabetes. its so annoying. im just tired of diabetes. it holds me back alot.
I was 13 when I got it. And I totally know these questions you mentioned. And some of my classmates said to me that they could not live with that, that they could not inject themselves. I mean, if you have no choice you do it. After years it was ok for me, but then a friend said to me that he has no diabetes and smiled to me and laughed me out. I was so angry and sad then. But now I don’t care what other say or think. Diabetes isn’t as bad as people think. I can still enjoy my life and there are worse things than diabetes. Stay healthy.
Im currently in middle school and i absolutely HATE being different than the others. I just hope people will some day see my as something else as the „sick“ and „introverted“ girl.
Wonderful presentation, truly T1D is not something you wish for your worst enemy but yet again much better than other deadly diseases with no cure like deadly cancer. Nowadays, people with diabetic can use sophisticated things like Omnipod which compared to so many years ago where you have to have a bag with all your medicine and testers, now you can track on your watch/phone and give medicine as needed through your phone. I am praying with all these researches going on, someone would finally come up with a cure for it for good.
A few months ago I started drinking a lot of water. I started to feel tired and sick, but I didn’t think anything off it. I needed to pee a lot, even while I was making my exams. 1 month ago I couldn’t eat anything anymore and i threw up a lot. My mom wanted to being me to the hospital, but I didn’t want to because I thought I just had a flu. A few days later I still couldn’t eat anything and whe I layed down I could feel my bones sticking out. I had lost a lot of weight in the past months. After looking at the dark circles around my eyes and my face that looked like it was made out of only skin and bones. I decided to go to the doctor. When we arived at the hospital, the doctor saw me and said I needed to get on the IV and that I would stay at the hospital for at least a week. I got diagnosed with diabetes type 1 and now I only weighted 50 kilos (I am a 17 year 6’4 old boy) After sleeping 4 nights in the hospital the docors said I could leave and that they had never seem someone in my condition that could leave the hospital so early. The first day home I decided to think about the positive side. I could use this oppertunity to change my live in a good way. I started eating a lot (healthy food) and I started lifting daily. Right now 4 weeks after I got hospitalized I gained 15 kilos (from 50 to 65) and my face doesn’t look skinny any more. I can see muscle starting to form in my chest and I feel good. In april I turn 18 years old and my goal is to reach 70 kilos before my birthday and keep on going to the gym daily. I also want to go to college next school year and get my business administration degree.
I was diagnosed more than half a year ago and I hate it. I want to go back to not knowing. I would rather have died from it suddenly without knowing, than knowing and having to live with it. My dream has always been to leave my country and go back to china but it isn’t great living there with diabetes so I can’t. I wanted to become a pilot. And I can’t. I can’t do anything anymore that I really wanted to do and it sucks. I honestly would rather have a terminal illness than this.
When i was diagnosed with T1 I left secondary school, never to return again. I lost my friends and physical health all in one day to something that does not even run in the genetics of my family.
I am type 1 diabetic since 2011. Still i enjoy my life. Though i cant do all the stuff like normal people do...but still i am happy. Just accept yourself as the way you are. And never say WHY ME? .....rather alway say TRY ME!
I am also a type 1 Diabetic since 2018 it was really hard to stand up I hated being different I don't like those eyes seeing me like that people excuses me when i eat it really felt pain inside, then My Mom make me courageous she tought me many things, still Now In these days i never feels regret for that because diabetes taught me many things in my life it's not like that it doesn't hurts but i overcame that i want to tell something that if you are diagnosed with diabetes it will be tough for you in starting you will also feel like why me but after sometime you will overcame...
Great presentation. What’s amazing is that this exact same thing happened to me. My mom has it as well but for some strange reason, it has never been classified as a hereditary disease. I hope they find a cure soon so the rest of us don’t have to live with this gigantic burden for the rest of our lives.
You were and still are so brave! My daughter was diagnosed at 10 with Type 1. I wish she would talk to me about how she feels. That's why I decided to listen to this video. She is 14 now.
I was diagnosed on April 1,2008 it’s been 10 years and I’ve had many of nights where I get up and go to the sink and drink water I’ve also ended up in the hospital because I was tired of having to deal with it so I just stopped
I just found out that I have type 1 diabetes right after my grandmother went into diabetics shock she's fine now but that was my first warning. My second was my symptoms of dry mouth, frequent urination, lack of mobility, and dizziness.
Such a beautiful young lady. Be strong there you are blessed and you're capable of anything just like everyone else, or even better than "normal" people..
hey there my friend, i hope you’re doing well! here’s an early congrats on your anniversary- not that that kind of diagnosis is necessarily great, but i like to think of it as having survived another year with t1d 😊 i know it’s a big adjustment, and it can be really emotionally and physically taxing. i’m super proud of you for being so strong and for getting through this year of new and unforeseen challenges. (and during a pandemic! look at you, making things happen! that’s awesome!) best wishes for you for the future, and i hope everything is going well. take care of yourself and stay safe out there! 💛
I was diagnosed with T1D March 26th 2018 my moms birthday. I woke up and felt sick I told my mom I didnt feel good she said to eat I went to grab a bagel and when I went to get the cream cheese and passed out my mom got really scared and woke up 2 seconds later and I ran to the bathroom and threw up a lot my mom called an ambulance and there glucometer wasnt working my mom and I didnt think anything of it because they said it was common in teens to do this with a lot of stress but just to be sure my mom took me to the doctor a lot of things run in are family and my mom just wanted to be sure I went to the doctor gave blood (I hate needles) and peed in a cup and left no glucometer was used my mom and i continued with our day and i still didnt feel good we went to the bank and then my mom took us out to eat we ate out at Olive Garden on our way home we had a miss call from my doctor he said "You need to get the the emergency room right now, if you dont get there soon you could die." He said that to a 12 year old girl! I was freaking out I always joked about dieing and how I didnt care but when he said that I broke down my mom called my aunt and I packed a few things as I'm freaking out. I've moved a lot in my life and have always hated it. But I've always had a stuffed animal sense birth and it reminds me of my brother bc he stayed with his dad along with his brother there're my half brothers we have different dads. But I rushed to the ER and they had me in the waiting room for 1 hour and 30 minutes at this point I'm think I'm going to die any second but here i am i dont really take good care of myself i eat early 2 meals a day and my blood sugars stay better without eating and I'm hoping it'll help me lose wait but bc I dont have a dad when we moved again my uncle became a really big father figure to me I can see him going off on a boyfriend and telling him to treat me with respect most kids hate that but it's all I've ever wanted but hes getting Deployed in March or May they changed it, it used to be in January but they pushed it back for more training and I'm worried I'm going to get separation anxiety and it's all to much for my 14 year old life
One of the best things you can do is think about how to have a healthy diet and routine. A difficulty I have is avoiding spikes of high blood sugar, especially after breakfast. I would say a low-carb diet and daily exercise is best for me, and I wish I'd learned more about diet as soon as I was diagnosed in 2015.
This may sound strange from a complete stranger but I am proud of you! I was 13 when I was diagnosed with T1D.. that was 27 years ago. Still feels like yesterday honestly. My story was much like yours. I felt ashamed and different and many other negative emotions. But those were a lie. Once I realized who I was and am I have lived and still live an amazing full life. I take full responsibility for my health and making healthy choices for myself but also for my family. I now have two amazing kids 4 and 7. They know that I have to take medicine and watch what I eat, and exercise. But they also know their dad had a mountain in front of him when he was a kid just like they may have growing up and I decided to fight and win every day, one day at a time. So I say to you and everyone else who has been challenged to fight. Fight to win and don’t give up. I will be in your corner cheering you on!...
I'm 16.. 4 months ago when suddenly i had some weird blood clots all over my body.. i couldn't sit or even lay down properly and that is when after some blood reports i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.. my body went numb when doctors said if i was even 1 day late to be diagnose with T1D i could have died..like literally die.. my mother was there for me.. i m alive today bcz of her but except her everyone has just dumped me out of their lives.. i want to stay strong but there are timess when i really want some frnds.. when i want to be free of all the shots i have to take.. of every negative thought that's stuck in my mind but i just can't😢
Sounds like me 19 years ago. It's hard to believe in March this coming year 2019. I would have LIVED with T1D for 20 years. So much new technology has come out. I am now on the Tslim with the G6 which I love been a month with out checking my BG by my fingers just the sensor and I'm loving it so much. I just hope sometime in my lifetime there will be a cure.
Im hoping for the same thing. My dad can't stop looking up all the latest research. God bless you. If I won the lottery I'd pour so much money on research
I have type 1 diabetes and I'm going back to school around September or earlier ill be in high school after being homeschooled for 3 years ill be in year 8 and my brain auto clicked on this
I was six years old it was incredibly hard on me, though I don't member much about it ( and I'm kind of glad I don't) it changed my life... forever, it's so hard especially the teasing about type two even though at the exact opposite of what I have
If her Mom had T1D then that means that it was genetic and she got the gene that causes T1D. I hope that she's living a normal life and taking her shots to keep her blood sugar level stable.
Oli - don't be terrified. There are great resources out there. Attend events through your local JDRF chapter - they are a great resource. Reach out to other T1D's. We have three T1D's in our family. I promise it gets easier to deal with and much less terrifying. You can still do anything and everything!
You're not alone. Listen Carefully. You can try this free Natural home remedy, but you's have to make it. Im sure you're smart. Get well!
any fellow type 1 diabetics out there who want some encouragement? feel free to respond to this comment and i’ll reply as soon as i can. ik managing t1d can be really hard sometimes (i’ve had it for over 16 years now) and there are definitely days that are rougher than others, and it’s nice to be acknowledged for all the work you put in every day to stay healthy. much love to all of you 💕
The worst part about this disease is that it makes too much money. It has a cure that no one will ever receive. I mean think about it, a cure means no more insulin, needle tips, pumps, blood glucose monitors, and a whole branch if doctors specialized in this field.
I’m really struggling with my school teachers not caring and my nurse not even wanting anything to do and i was low a whole day of school and no teachers would listen any advice im 13 btw I have one teacher who’s cares because her daughter has it
@@brookeritson8205 oh my god that's unbelievable?? (but also so believable it hurts)-- i would bring administration into it, try to get a 504 plan if you don't already have one. they legally can't deny you necessary medical care and while you would hope they would honor that just out of good will, sometimes they don't, and they need the written document to take you seriously 🥲 it totally shouldn't be that way and i'm so sorry you're dealing with this
@@insertpseudonym5311 thanks I will try talk to my nurses and see what they think about giving them a document each of my teacher can have, I guess its just something I need to be more strong about and try talk to teachers but most the time I’m trying to explain its when I’m low or high so it makes it harder
@@Meepzilluh In Canada it's not that expensive. My first script I got 90 days worth of fast and long acting insulin, a glucose meter, test strips, replacement needles, and FreeStyle Libre and the total cost was $84. Not bad for 3 months of life saving medicine and monitoring equipment. Plus every time I see my Endo (for free, bc Canada) he gives me huge bag of free samples.
hey, ik i’m a month or so late, but congrats on making it through 5 YEARS! that’s awesome and i’m super proud of you! i hope everything’s going well for you, especially during these weird times. take care of yourself and stay safe my friend, you’ve got such amazing things ahead of you 😊💛
Heyy so I'm a Canadian girl who has had the T1D for 11 years now... any good tips for when it's really starting to feel hopeless again? Like just keeping my sugars below 13 is getting annoying to me, and I'm starting to feel like I'm getting random pains in my body that are kinda freaking me out, but I'm terrified of actually finding out there's something wrong with me... plus I've recently moved to a small town with no endocrinologist. So whoops... any advice??

Heman Rocks Type 1 diabetes can’t be cured, because it’s a complete absence of endogenous insulin. That doesn’t just come back due to diet. Type 1 isn’t treated with pills either, but insulin injections. Diet is a big part in treating all types of diabetes, though.

_Modern medicine has no treatment for many disorders._ .........What's worse, all drugs like heart disease and diabetes pills cause bipolar disorder and depression......... If anyone, or their family, have any disease and have tried medication and still not cured completely, _feel free to contact me._ ........
You would be treated with nutrition and minor changes in life style.........
Also you would be *completely free of the disease* in some time, ending all medication. .....

I have successfully treated many people who were told that their condition is incurable. Diseases like diabetes, obesity, osteoporosis, heart issues, liver problems, brain disorders, lifestyle disorders etc.
My daughter diagnosed @11 yrs old 16 yr old now rebellious about t1d , been in DKA so many times stop counting but still alive . But developing new thing b/c of it. But now she is working on her self to save her live. Thank u for yr story
awww this is sooooo good I wish I could talk about my experience but I was only 3 when I was diagnosed, I've had it for 10 years, and something that's really helped me was diabetes camp it's so fun and everyone there has diabetes, it reminds me that I'm not alone.
You are definitely NOT alone ;)
omg i loved going to diabetes camp back in the day! i went every year until about 3 years ago when i aged out of it. that was always the best week of summer for me haha
What a sweet girl and awesome speaker i have type 1 diabetes found out in 2017 with dka will be 40 this year
“Inhale the future and exhale the past” wow thank you for sharing your story, I had tears throughout but that quote hit me hard. I was diagnosed Type 1 when I was 13, 30 now. I’ve had bad days and worse weeks, but keep on striving to get at a good level. Your story was awesome and very relatable, you should be proud of what you’ve done :)
Can i ask you something? How is it to be living with diabetes? R u having insulin or medicine?
This legit made me cry really hard. I wanna meet her
I'm also a type 1 I'm from south South Africa.... I was diagnosed when I was 18 in 2017 now I'm 21 I'm so motivated with her I feel safe here coz alot of ppl understand..... ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Im south African too!!!!
I'm sharing this everywhere I can! See below:
Diabetes type 1 and 2 can be cured.
Jaime Dy-Liacco, Doctor of Metabolic Medicine, an 82 year old, told the public (free of charge) that Chillies and Sea salt mixed together in high
dose can reverse Diabetes.
Putting it all together, this is what you can do:
Take about 300g of Red spicy chilli.
Get well!

Yeah. It feels good to see that I‘m not alone. And the comments here are really great to read.
I’m T1D also and this so motivated me to be positive thank you
I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was just 18 years old more than that what gave me a pain was my ex broke up with me just after knowing I had type 1 diabetes, since than I thought none will love or will see so I went through depression problem than i was hospitalized and after that I realized that I should love myself 😊 so with that positive thought I am living my new life 🤗😃
I want to be positive like you help me
diabetes is nothing okay send me your WhatsApp
Aziz maneh where are you from ?
I am 18 and I got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes on september 29th 2021.
The worst part about this disease is that it makes too much money. It has a cure that no one will ever receive. I mean think about it, a cure means no more insulin, needle tips, pumps, blood glucose monitors, and a whole branch of doctors specialized in this field.
@@Meepzilluh The medical industry is making money out of this.Thats for sure. Please read my other comment.
@@agnieszkachrzan6017 I would be up for anything
Hey there..
I know how you feel because I am going through the same thing but it's gonna be fine .Thats what I told myself...let's hope for our best and different things to get ourselves on track
I need you to explain how starving yourself is going to increase your insulin.
@@Dude-cf8hb I don't know the exact thing but starving causes low blood sugar as you are not eating food and your body is not making glucose and your insulin boost the process . Your body glucose is decreased not because of increase in insulin level but because you didn't eat ... I hope it is helpful...
Thank you for working hard to help find a cure! My son was 7 when he was diagnosed. He is now 13. We pray every day for a cure!
I cried most of the time when I was first diagnosed.
Maam. Please read my other comment.God bless.Stay strong.Your son will have a long life
I just got diagnosed at 19. Nothing about my body feels different but I can feel my mental state start to crumble and I'm starting to develop some bad anxiety and panic attacks. It's something I can't run away from and everytime its time to eat, the anxiety flares up.
I feel the exact same way about the anxiety around the time to ear
@Sarah Garrett Not yet but im really leaning towards getting one soon
Sophia, you are a wonderful role model...so poised and positive. Good for you for all that you've done for type 1 and for yourself!
Can i ask you something? How is it to be living with diabetes? R u having insulin or medicine?
And I’m grateful that I’m okay now and I can listen to others who face similar things to me day to day

your great Sophia thank you for a kind specking to all of us. my sister was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes last year. thank strong girl don't ever give up from Zachary schopper
I'm a student nurse and I watched yur ted talk to do an asgnment...your braveness really moved me..pls allow me to share this...thnk you
im 13. ive had diabetes since i was 3. i remember the hospital i remember screaming bc i didnt want them to put the iv in. ive struggled with alot of mental health. im tired of people asking me if i can have sugar or saying that i have it bc i eat to much. that not how u get diabetes. its so annoying. im just tired of diabetes. it holds me back alot.
Awesome job Sophia! You’re so strong and beautiful!
I got diagnosed with diabetes type 1 and now I only weighted 50 kilos (I am a 17 year 6’4 old boy)
After sleeping 4 nights in the hospital the docors said I could leave and that they had never seem someone in my condition that could leave the hospital so early.
Really tough to accept dear.
:)
Your are so positive man. 👍🏻

But I rushed to the ER and they had me in the waiting room for 1 hour and 30 minutes at this point I'm think I'm going to die any second but here i am i dont really take good care of myself i eat early 2 meals a day and my blood sugars stay better without eating and I'm hoping it'll help me lose wait but bc I dont have a dad when we moved again my uncle became a really big father figure to me I can see him going off on a boyfriend and telling him to treat me with respect most kids hate that but it's all I've ever wanted but hes getting Deployed in March or May they changed it, it used to be in January but they pushed it back for more training and I'm worried I'm going to get separation anxiety and it's all to much for my 14 year old life
I hope things have settled down for you now
I got diagnosed on Friday and I'm freaking out I'm 29, not coping
It gets better as time goes on just live your best life
One of the best things you can do is think about how to have a healthy diet and routine.
Love you for your confidence

If you google these trace minerals separately and look at PUBMED scientific research papers you'll see lots of evidence proving that these trace minerals are Crucial for Glucose tolerance, enzymatic reactions and the body's hormonal system.
Different people might have different deficiencies. Even Lithium plays a crucial role in glucose metabolism, and there are others like Mg etc etc...
Putting it all together, this is what you can do:
Take about 300g of Red spicy chilli.
Get well!
11 months ago at 24 I was diagnosed with type 1 it’s been a big change forsure
any fellow type 1 diabetics out there who want some encouragement? feel free to respond to this comment and i’ll reply as soon as i can. ik managing t1d can be really hard sometimes (i’ve had it for over 16 years now) and there are definitely days that are rougher than others, and it’s nice to be acknowledged for all the work you put in every day to stay healthy. much love to all of you 💕
The worst part about this disease is that it makes too much money.
5 years ago TODAY, I was diagnosed
hey, ik i’m a month or so late, but congrats on making it through 5 YEARS! that’s awesome and i’m super proud of you! i hope everything’s going well for you, especially during these weird times. take care of yourself and stay safe my friend, you’ve got such amazing things ahead of you 😊💛
Heyy so I'm a Canadian girl who has had the T1D for 11 years now... any good tips for when it's really starting to feel hopeless again? Like just keeping my sugars below 13 is getting annoying to me, and I'm starting to feel like I'm getting random pains in my body that are kinda freaking me out, but I'm terrified of actually finding out there's something wrong with me... plus I've recently moved to a small town with no endocrinologist. So whoops... any advice??
Since you're Canadian. Listen to this!
I'm sharing this everywhere I can! See below:
Diabetes type 1 and 2 can be cured.
