      JerseyMikeP well let’s see. The Bugatti veyron had a Nurburgring time of 7:40.... over 1,000hp and it’s only 3 seconds faster than a Honda Civic type r? K..... (not to mention the Bugatti probably gained like 10 seconds on the long straight) the aventador is sub 4 thousand pounds that ain’t no boat, the m5? 7:38 so only 5 seconds faster than a type r civic with double the power..... E63 AMG? Dude... Renaults and clios are faster.... a Volvo S60 went faster... the Audi RS7 idk enough about it to really know how good or bad it is. The Panamera Turbo S is maybe the most impressive being over 5k lbs but it has as much hp as the aventador but tied the M5 in time.... so idk man you tell me.

    I find nothing more fun than watching two totally different classes of cars compete against each other. A nimble, zippy 4wd hothatch vs. a muscle car american rwd sedan. Yeah baby. Reminds me a bit also of Best motoring, those crazy mofos had some of the best races of street cars.

Well, shortly into the lap, he didn't like the shift points & asked what the options were. I told him paddles, because he knew about those already, but I didn't tell him about the "bump shift" option on the stick. His 2nd lap the tranny was in "TRACK" mode, which was better, but his 3rd lap he used the paddles & liked it the best.... & yeah, it was a blast - thanks for watching!

Hellcat had Multiple opportunity to pass but RS didn’t let them even at one point signalled to stop them. They then waited until the VERY END to pass him, showing true horse power. @@bavarianmoparworks8668 Thanks for the reply. For the record I happen to like American muscle cars a lot.
      So if I've got this right if they are both stock and unhindered the Megane beats the Focus by about 20 seconds, the Hellcat by 10 seconds and the track is like 20km long? so like it gains half a second on you per Km, although it probably doesn't pan out that equally. There's a good probability that neither are stock, so who knows how it really stands. Since you're already going at speed and that's your main advantage. I'm not sure your weight has that much effect with all that power.
      I own a facelift MK2 Focus ST and obvs would much rather I had your car, but I think your use of the word 'plays' implies you think you could easily beat it upon your demand, but it didn't look that way. if you factored in the cost difference and your assessment of the other drivers ability.... I'm wondering if maybe a more respectful title would have been more appropriate?

      @@ru55ells The '19 Megane put up a time of 7:55 here. The '16 Focus RS did a time of 8:06 (faster than a Mustang GT, lol!). ALLEGEDLY, a '15 Challenger Hellcat did a 7:51 here but I can find ZERO proof of it & while that time MIGHT be possible, I still hold it as nothing more than "MOPAR Urban Legend". IF Driver Jon was driving all 3 of those cars, all stock & all with a good set of tires on it, I would guess that the Megane would win & the Focus RS & Hellcat would both be a close second. The Ring is 20.7 km long, with 79 curves (167 or so turns) & 1500' of elevation change (500m or so). Many of the turns are both decreasing radius turns AND negative camber - so chassis setup is key. Lighter weight cars, regardless of horsepower disadvantages, will excel. 700+ horsepower can do a lot to over come inertia, but not physics, lol! As far as the title goes, when I say "play" I don't mean like a "cat w/a mouse" & it's nothing disparaging towards the Focus. It's meant that we were LITERALLY "playing around with" the Focus. This was Driver Jon's very first time behind the wheel of this car, WITH 2 passengers (one of whom OWNED the car, lol). He is WAY to experienced a driver to simply throw the Hellcat around a track like this without learning its setup & what it will handle - thus he was just getting a feel for the car. Also, he has DRIVEN a Focus RS here on the Ring, so he knows EXACTLY what that car can do - which is why we know the driver of THIS RS is not driving it to its full potential. I have a TON of respect for the RS - it punches WAY above it's weight class. It will stay side by side w/a Hellcat all the way up to 1/8th mile in a drag race. If you REALLY want to see what a RS can do, go check out my buddy Dan Brown's channel "Track FOCUSED" & watch him pull some laps here OR, better yet, watch Driver Jon pretty much lap the entire FIELD on the GP track, lol! Couple points - this was his first serious lap in the car so he was not pushing the limits of the car by any stretch. There were a couple spots he could have overtaken the RS sooner. Driver for driver, the RS is capable of putting up just as fast a lap time as the HC, simply because its BUILT to do this. Jon has driven both on the Ring. So yes, for the money, if you want a track car, the Focus RS is a great car for the money (on the autobahn or drag strip I'd take the HC anytime!!). Thx for watching!

I could only imagine running a Hellcat on a track, let alone the most sophisticated track in the world. Are you guys military or prior? How did the track become available for use like that. I know you can pay for track laps and such but usually people stationed overseas get to enjoy it more often than not. I'm stationed stateside but dream of running both Autobahn and Nurburgring some day. Sweet content on the channel. I assume this is the passengers channel? Thanks for the detailed reply.

      Don't sell the RS too short. We know EXACTLY what it can do & it is a very capable hatchback. Horsepower, torque, cost - they mean absolutely nothing here on a road course. It's all about your car's setup. I drive the Hellcat here because its fun as hell, but the RS is a MUCH better track car. Driver for driver, the RS will beat a Hellcat on a track every time. This "race" was only close because the RS driver here was inexperienced while Driver Jon was taking it easy because this was his first time driving the HC. If you want to see what a Focus RS can do here with a good driver behind the wheel, check out my good friend Dan Brown's channel "Track Focused" - among his videos, there is a REALLY bad ass vid of Driver Jon driving the Focus on the GP course here & basically laps the entire field, lol! • @bavarianmoparworks8668
      @bavarianmoparworks8668  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct to a point. On a track like this, driver for driver, a Focus RS WILL keep up with a Hellcat on all but the longest of straights. Driver Jon is an experienced race driver & instructor but this was his first time behind the wheel of the Hellcat & he had 2 passengers - so he was simply getting a feel for what the car can do & trying out a progression of different chassis, suspension & transmission setups (next lap was the AMG lap, then the Mustang lap - which he got progressively more aggressive). The driver of the Focus RS in this video appears to be someone who is not experienced with either driving or their car because we know the RS will do MUCH better. Driver Jon has driven an RS here & on the GP track & fully knows the capabilities of that car. You can watch him lap the entire field on the GP course with one on my friend Dan Brown's channel "Track Focused" - great video! Lastly, the RS is not only a great track car for the money, it will also keep up with a Hellcat in a drag race up to a 1/8th mile - we've done that too, lol! Thanx for watching!

Last lap (Mustang GT lap) he was in full "TRACK" mode & using the paddles - which was his favorite setup. Thanx for watching!

      car is pretty much stock. the OEM thermostat literally snapped in half & I had that replaced (a few weeks before this lap) under warranty (180 degree thermo is on my grocery list), but the OEM one handles the Ring just fine. I added a carbon fiber rear diffuser & rear spoiler & was worried about "Carousel" because it is extremely bumpy & wasn't sure if it would scrape - it didn't thankfully. Still running PZeros (like the Y rating since I usually hit 170+mph on the autobahn) but put 295's on the rear & lastly, after 12k miles I needed to swap out the front pads & went w/Power Stop Z26s.
