2023 Trek Emonda SL Pro 6 Review | 2500 Miles and Still in Love

  • I've had the Sl 6 Pro for 6 months now and have ridden 2500 miles with it. This is a quick review of my experience with the bike and the upgrades I have done and will be doing to it.
If you're looking for a fast, lively bike, then this bike is a great option. I have really loved this bike because it takes me back to when I started riding on my Felt Aluminum bike. I'm a stand up climber. I get out of the saddle and climb and this bike allows me to do that and it asks for more.
The pursuit of saving watts and weight helps tremendously when thinking about bike upgrades. I've found that the less weight you can have on your wheels, the faster accelerating the bike will be but also less power you need to put in to do the same amount of work. That I why I moved my Pro 3Vs over and went tubeless. In total, I've taken a little more than a 1/2 pound off the ends of the bike, which made the bike more responsive.
The other upgrades that are in the works will be the Drivetrain. Upgrading from 50/34 to 52/36 is going to move the chain line into a more efficient line while letting me get a higher gear ratio. A higher ratio allows me to be able to go to a higher gear when descending to achieve higher speeds. As for upgrading the cassette, 11-34 to 11-30, this will help put the chain line in a more efficient line again to make sure I don't wear out the components quicker and also give me a smoother progression through the gears.

Hi! Thanks for the video! How much weight did you saved using the new pirelli tubeless ready?

In total, it came down to about 1/4 lb. But the greatest benefit, it was rotational weight, which made a huge difference on acceleration.

The bike is fantastic. The weight is reasonable for the price. You can make it 6.6kg on that frame, but it'll cost $$$$. Alternatively, one can simply enjoy riding it (which this one offers plenty), save $$$$, and lose 2kg of weight for the same result.

Very true. Agreed! Build an ultra lightweight, you're spending some money. As mentioned in the video , this is just the SL, not the SLR, which comes in 14.89 lbs/6.75 kg. That 4 lbs less for double the price.

@@JakebMiller That’s without pedals. However, as I mentioned above, 6.6kg is doable on the SL frame, SRL will be just 6.2 :) That’s with pedals / cages and stuff. But that is pointless, the bike is great from the start. One can think about wheels / saddle / bar-stem for the fit and that is pretty much it.

@@avav30311 we are talking about his spec here. It isnt light on 105 spec, and spending $$$$ for it to be "lightweight" isnt logical considering a fat bodyweight like most white people do have.

@@JakebMiller thats triple the money and no pedals and accessories and its not your spec which is 8.5kg real world weight which is not light weight. 🤣
