"Yeah, we recorded a song called Attacked By A Shark. It from a band thats called Whimzy, from a city nearby Stockholm. We did is as some kind of joke. We were asked by a guy to do a compilation-album with a lot of Swedish bands like Entombed with the theme: new Swedish metalbands covers old Swedish metalbands (Power From The North Sweden Rocks The World ). And everybody has bands like Candlemass, Europe, so we thought were gonna dig a little more deeper in the underground. "
wtf! Haake playing a regular beat and Fredrik doing a rock n roll solo! this MAY be from their goodbye concert when they moved from hometown Umeå to Stockholm . I could be totaly wrong but this is the only time i have heard/read of that they have played covers . They entered the stage in black suits and Jens said "we are gonna play a cover by a stockholm band" And they play Abbas "S.O.S" lol!! . This is 100% true . I read about this in an old article . Not sure about this track tho

@NoaOno Just google "Meshuggah attacked by a shark" and click the first result. They recorded a version of this song for a Swedish compilation album of Swedish bands doing covers of other groups. Being the funny guys they are, Meshuggah decided to record a cover of a very obscure band rather than some well-known group, just "for teh lulz."
wow its so weird hearing meshuggah playing something regular with no polymetric phrasing, crazy! its like the equivalent of hearing ac/dc do a cover of in death is death or something, weird :)
BAHAHAHA! This is excellent. These are the goofiest bastards I've ever seen. I love them. True genius musicians that humble themselves with a presence humor.
Sounds werid heaing Meshuggah playing something that sounds like "normal" metal, at the same time it's great. So, basically, this is weird and awesome at the same timr.
@@sneakychrisdude Whimzy! All I could figure out is that they must have been a small local band that was active during that time in Sweden. Have you heard the Meshuggh P3 live swedish radio concert from around the time Chaosphere was released? Very Surprised its not on you tube. I still listen to it on my ipod. Similar quality to this song.
@@h.p.dominocus Is the entire Meshuggah set available? I think I only have "Future Breed Machine" from that performance and it is on the 1997 EP that had the demo version of "Sane" and the remixes. There's also a 1995 promo CD with a live version of "Gods of Rapture" (recorded in Sweden also but in 1994).
@@prof1389 The entire set was broadcasted live on Swedish radio in 1998. I've never came across it on youtube or even found any information on it. Its a classic, tight performance with a pretty high quality sounding live mix. I'm thinking of trying to upload it one day when I can figure out how to. The live version of FBM on the 1997 "True Human Design" EP is a different live recording than the radio concert and the Gods of Rapture live track is on "Selfcaged". The solo is amazing on that!
@@h.p.dominocus Appreciate the clarification. My first exposure to Meshuggah was on a 5 song promo CD that had 2 songs from the None EP and 3 songs from Selfcaged (including the live "Gods of Rapture"). The cover of the promo CD is similar to the cover of the Selfcaged EP so sometimes they get confused for each other online. I might search Soulseek for the Swedish Radio broadcast. If you're on Soulseek, let me know.

L.O.L i would give my life to see Meshuggah play this long. Haake playing like that, ROFLMAO !
HAHAHAHAHA
Haake playing as a normie drummer bores me the hell out.

i literally busted out laughing when the solo started. i never thought i'd hear fredrik play something like that \:|
Tomas may thinks "man, so much place to put some snare hits in"

this goes pretty hard in some parts, damn!
I like how he said "Attacked by a SHAAARRRK"
great song. much more traditional in structure and melody. love the 80's feeling solo.

AC/DC would probably die on stage if they'd try and cover anything from Meshuggah.
LMFAO

I believe this song was on a Swedish Metal Compilation: Power from the North - Sweden Rocks the World.
Yep!! Bought a copy at my local 99c store yeeeears ago
ahhh, the SIMPLE pleasures in life ...
From the compilation "Power from the North: Sweden Rocks the World".
yeah, from "Umeå Open" (lokal festival) like 1996 I think.
i saw them playing this song in Uppsala (the hometown of Whimzy), Sweden in 1998 (i think), but i can't tell if this is recorded at that gig.
It's a cover song of a band named Whimzy
This stuff is awesome
@underscoreisnotvalid there's just a problem, ac dc can't play meshuggah
This is pretty damn good.
best answer ever.!
you mention pizza and i pictured this song in a ninja turtles movie or a street sharks movie adaptation. Both of those need to happen!
Who the ef is the original band that did this song? I can't find it.
A band called Whimzy, Thought I can't seem to find any more information than that on them (I also haven't looked very hard at all)

attacked. By. A. SHAAARKKKK! xD
catchy lol. where'd you find this?
am I crazy or did this recording end up on a record or even single? or some sort of metal compilation?
lol, sounds like a decent recording; any more??
@underscoreisnotvalid too bad ac/dc would never be able to do it in a million years, not to say they arent awesome, but you know..
It's like Haake does some weird karate to play..
lol wtf
this wins hard
@fullmetalmc ooooooh big words :3
123!
thomas haake can play this while eating a pizza....he would be like man this is so easy :-D
Yeah. That's why he popularized the polymetric stuff in prog metal.
Oh that's right this is a cover
Isn't that obvious?!
hahaha
Now do hammer smashed face
Bruh
wtf is this.
the only meshuggah song i ever liked! too bad its just a cover song
Too short of mind, my boy. 😂
Haha ... when they play this, they just sound like a very mediocre band.
And that's why they don't make mediocre music and I love them.
