I believe covering yourself in yogurt relieves sunburn. Yogurt with probiotics, by the way. Not yogurt with lovely strawberry bits in (as I found out in Greece). It worked though, and I smelled wonderfully fruity too.
Three years later, the G95 (USA) is coming in at a great deal. I picked up the G95 for $699 from B&H and it came with a case, a memory card 128G, and a UV Filter.
If you like manual dials id suggest you take a look at the Fuji xt series. Im currently on an xt1 and even tho its an old sensor it takes incredible images.
I just had a play with this camera, as a gh5 user the g90 just feels like it has better autofocus in video. I don’t know how it compares to the g85 and g9 but this is a great little camera. Really hope we can expect a autofocus update for gh5
While the G90 certainly looks great I won't upgrade my G80 or G6 to one, because it's price is so close to the G9. The added features are all right and welcome and for a professional like you it definitely makes sense to get it. As a hobbiest looking to maybe make a bit of money on the side I rather safe up for a G9. Cheers from Germany 🙂
Hopefully we will see a price reduction or cashback in the next few months. If it was a £100 less I think it would be a good option. Will keep my G80 for photos for now though, great camera for the money and goes nicely alongside my GH5s for video.
I'm using G85/G80 right now and thinking of getting G90/ G95. Just want to know for image way better in video and pictures? One important part I want to know is autofocus way better than G80/ G85? Or is it better to just keep G80 / G85 and buy a good lens? Right now using kit lens 12-60mm
A head phone jack! Awesome, sounds like the rest of the improvements are great as well. My G85 is great but the headphone issue is always a strange work around. Love your videos James.
Testing for Panasonic... Nice 👍👊 The camera has been getting great reviews. Some have been calling it the One To Rule Them All for vlogging. Fantastic. beginner camera too. Keep up the great work ✌️
I am a G85 user which is currently under $700 with the 12-60mm lens ... I am not excited about the G95 ... For $1200 I prefer the G9 with 4k60p@150mbs and 180p FHD slowmo, since I already have the lenses or maybe I will save $300 more and get the superb GH5.
The G80 hit the sweet spot for me in terms of ergonomics and handling, so I'm happy to see they're continuing that line and not canning it after bringing out the G9. The spinny wheel at the back is one of the few things I wish the G80 had but didn't, and here it is now. Curious to see how AF-C compares between the two, in both single point and tracking - hope you'll get to go in depth with that soon! (Oh yeah, and as others have asked: how about driving the camera off USB power? Could have serious livestreaming potential that way.)
While I do agree with comments others have made (the G9's aggressive sales pricing does have it right around launch price of the G90/95), odds are when I go to pick up a second body I'll choose the G95... Pending full on reviews once they have production firmware out. Why? Well... The G9 is lovely, does have better stabilization and whatnot, but I really do like the compact nature of my G85, and the G95 uses the same battery... And rumour is stating it fixes one of the main gripes I have with the G85 - long exposures doing their best impression of a bowl of skittles... Aka sooooo much noise from hot pixels. Definitely liking the fact there's dedicated buttons for White Balance, ISO, and Exposure compensation now, and even more so, that they've kept the front wheel right where it is. I really REALLY like that wheel being there. Being able to run off of a USB powerbank is a handy feature, especially since I want to (eventually) get a nice portable astrophotography setup - William Optics has the Red Cat (or Zenithstar 63), there's the Star Guider Pro, and... You can just put it on a sturdy carbon fiber tripod. Pair all that with a few primes (say, PanaLeica 15mm f1.7, Lumix 25mm f1.7, and the Lumix 42.5mm f1.7) and then one of the zooms (say, the 12-60mm, or the newly announced and weather sealed 14-140 II) and you have a nice, lightweight, compact kit that lets you pack a good sized lunch as well, and doesn't weigh all that much in the long run.
As a G80 owner there is nothing that makes me want the G90 over the option of getting the G9 which I will once I have paid for my 100-400. But if Lumix gave me one then sure I would take it :)
I'm sure that you won't see this, but I'm finding that the G85 has dropped in price quite a bit. Is this the particular model that you were using at this time? I found it for sale on Amazon with the 12-60 power O.I.S. lens for $700 USD. Is this about right?
Hey James, can you maybe explain in a video as to when a photographer will find his style or genre? Cause it's been 2 years now and I'm nowhere close to having my preference of genre and photography style. Thanks again!
Matt, I've been doing ti for over 15 years and I still have no particular style. I was a motorsport photographer to start with, but when i packed that in I just started shooting everything, from portraits to landscapes. I don't think there is any particular time frame in developing a style. I'd say it's just down to you.
Out of curiosity, what have you been shooting? Any things you've shot more often than others? Or less? Anything you look forward to shooting? Anything you loathe or just don't enjoy?
I think style can be very subjective. For me, it's not about the subject itself, but how I like to frame it I think is my "style". But otherwise, what I'm capturing and how I process is very all over the place as I like to play around a lot. Not to mention, your style changes over time and that's okay too! It's part of growing!
Thanks for this great sneak peek. I found your channel through this and really loves it. You can never get too much of that English humor. I have been wanting to buy the g80 but hesitated since it lacks good slow motion. So the g90 seems like the perfect replacement. However, in Sweden, you can buy the gh5 for 1400 euro and the g90 is listed for 1300 euro. It will probably go down after a while, but the gh5 is a better camera, don't you think.
I have just switched from Canon Full Frame (5D3) to the G9 for still and am very impressed. For pieces to camera I use a mix of Canon M6 & Go Pro Hero 7 but been so impressed with the G9 that a total switch using the G90 seems logical. How is it weight wise?
James how do I tether wired with the g90 all I want to do is use the laptop to control the camera. Do I need a capture card the new lumix tether soft ware doesnt support the g90 Thanks
The pricing is the only thing turns me off upgrading my G80. I do like that the G90 is a little chunkier, I like a decent grip, also likes that it has the updated sensor and the ISO/WB buttons, but they're pricing it £200 above what the G80 launched at! This is a mistake. Most G80 users will just hold out until prices drop or we start seeing them on the used market OR just upgrade to a G9. Panasonic ... use your cop on! If you really want us to trade up, you have to make it appealing. Atm, it just isn't. Not enough of a leap to justify £500 extra [after selling your G80, which you get naff all for these days]
@@JamesPopsysPhoto like I say, the G80 was 699 when released so it really should be in that ballpark. Otherwise the G9 is the better option when you can get it new (albeit grey market) in the UK for 950. £799 would be a better start for the 90 I think
Can you do a comparison between the 1080p out of the G90 VS the G80? I have found the 1080p to be really low quality out of the G80 compared to the GH5s.
Have LOVED your videos James, Thanks! I'm still on the M43 vs. FF quest. Have an OMD Em1 that failed so epically at a family reunion that I haven't touched it since! (My fault though as I"m a long time Nikon guy). I have the oly 12-50 kit and that might be the issue as well... Curious of your thoughts on a good lens to try and see if I can stay m43 (I primarily do landscapes and have 6 young children lol). My thoughts on getting an A7III is simply low light and speed. Again, Great Videos, have loved watching you from the beginning!
Really interesting vlog, was great meeting you at the photography show! I've never looked at lumix, I use canon. Would you say people use different brand for different types of photography/filming? or is it just preference? Are there particular things lumix has that stand out to you? Ps we can hear you 👍
So with a prize tag of around 1000€ the G90 is only slightly cheaper than the G9 and the GH5 actually... I am really having a hard time finding reasons to want this camera.
what sort of click baity notion of "perfect" vlogging camera... the vlogging camera hasn't been invented, you need totally redesigned ergonomics to be able to comfortably hold the camera facing your face. the vast majority of cameras are designed for you to be behind the camera not in front of it. With screen, buttons and viewfinder in the back and big sensor/lenses and grip oriented to the front away from you.. Human hands are just that versatile.
Sunburn is now under control, but things got worse before they got better...
I believe covering yourself in yogurt relieves sunburn. Yogurt with probiotics, by the way. Not yogurt with lovely strawberry bits in (as I found out in Greece). It worked though, and I smelled wonderfully fruity too.
@@Halfpint71 vinegar works too in my experience.
Aftersun is too late. Sunblock, applied liberally, is the go. And a shirt. And a hat. Not a BB cap.
I wish I'd read more than the first sentence before acting on the advice...

Been thinking about switching from my (heavy) canon 5dm3 setup to something lighter. Might try out this camera. Cheers

thx James, the G90 or G91 in Germany will be my next one, after my start with the GX80, which I still love

I would only be interested in upgrading if I could get the body only. I already own the 12-60 for my G85.
Why did you choose that particular lens?
I don't think I've ever seen you this excited about a piece of gear before - think you'll do a full review once it goes into production?
possibly! :)
@@JamesPopsysPhoto so how many cups of coffee did you chug before recording this video?

1. do you feel the extra weight compared to the g80?
2. It is not possible to set wb/iso using the quick wheel, is it? I got used to the g80 buttons..
Hey mate, I don't notice the weight, and that's a good question - I'd need to test :)

You get any footage of your surfing with a waterproof action camera (other GoPros are available...)?
I watched few review of g90 and thought I won't upgrade from my good old g80 but after watching your video I changed mind.
How is autofocus 😂?
You can now customise sensitivity and responsetime in different AF-C profiles for photo and video, I'm dying to know how that works out.
Yes I am keeping my g85, as it's too much right now to justify, since the g9 is so close in price

Why didn't you just get two G9's?
The G90 is smaller, lighter and a little cheaper ... well, you can get a G9 for about same used
Why you and Sean always release videos the same day at the same time?
Sunday seems to work well for views so lots of people do it :)
can the iso set to auto when recording video? thanks in advance
Every video I've seen with this show that the autofocus hunts like there is no tomorrow. If you dont use af then I guess no problem.
Doesn’t seem unbiased not mentioning the 1.25 crop in 4K while G80’s was 1.1.
If you're using wide angle lenses that's not much of an issue
Uncaged It is also a big quality degradation issue - as if it is a 1” sensor in video. See explanation in DPR.
I can't get to everything in a six minute overview. I talked about what I use most, and since I don't often record in 4k.. :)
Work or play?
Mostly play, but the cameras came along :)
