    📋 *𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆* 📋
    𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀 of its name
The origin of the name is uncertain. However, the most accredited hypotheses would make the toponym go back to the Latin term of indigenous origin ops (agricultural work) or from the Latin name *oppidum*, or fortified city.
Suggestive etymological hypotheses combine the name of Opi with Ope, an ancient Sabine divinity that the Romans assimilated to the goddess of abundance, or with Opice, priestess of the Roman temple of Vesta.
    Ancient era
The Alto Sangro area was inhabited since the Upper Paleolithic as attested by the archaeological and zooarchaeological findings carried out
It is likely that the first inhabitants of this area were groups of hunters from the lower altitudes of Lake Fucino, who periodically reached these mountains in search of flint and large prey.
Some ancient necropolises testify to the presence, at least from the 1st millennium BC, of permanent populations who practiced both agriculture and livestock. ...............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Opi is indeed a very photogenic place. I do find your video exploration of these small towns quite fascinating and enjoyable to watch. Interesting tour of the two 'Once Upon A Time Museums.' I like the walk-through of the different rooms with the interactive displays of how people lived, what they wore and the tools, equipment they used in the past. A great teaching experience. The 'Alley of Poems' was another treat and so too the gorgeous panoramic views. Absolutely beautiful!😍

What an interesting town. The museums show what the place was like when it was more populated. Then you could just imagine what it was like in the very long time ago. All these towns have so few residents now, it's sad. When I saw your post, I happened to be in my italki class with my abruzzese teacher. So I showed her (part of the intro), she knows the place, as it's about an hour from her place Santo Stefano di Sessanio. Abruzzo is beautiful, I think still wild. One day.....🤞btw, that was one very chilled cat😽

Dear Geraldine very happy as always to see you here. Indeed, from one side is pretty sad these towns are depopulating at that rate, from another it's a nice way to experience their reality like that. The museums were quite a great addition and it was unexpected actually to find them open like that. No tourists unfortunately :/ ajh I know Santo Stefano di sessa io, planning to go there eventually too!

@@geraldinehadiwidjaja7421 I read the same Geraldine, though not in every town, but htere are some "incentives" for some areas. Постоянно удивляюсь разнообразию церквей и часовен в подобных маленьких городках Италии и их красотой, как и Opi не стал исключением!

Это было зимой и я даже не предполагал, что волки так быстро могут передвигаться по высокому снегу.

    “God Has Come To You!”
The promise of eternal life is the result of God coming to us instead of humans trying to find and meet Him somewhere far away.
From the beginning, God has loved each of us with an unconditional and undying love. His original intention was to have a solid and living relationship with each of us. However, when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, their sins created a barrier between us and God. We are separated from Him forever.
Instead of allowing us to continue to distance ourselves from Him, God created a perfect plan for recovery-one motivated by His infinite love and mercy for us. The goal of His plan is to completely restore even the most intimate aspects of His relationship with mankind as it existed before Adam and Eve sinned.
More than 2,000 years ago, God sent His Son to earth to remove the barrier caused by sin and make salvation available to all.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent his Son into the world, not to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through him.” John 3:16-17
Through his death and resurrection, Jesus paid the full penalty of sin on our behalf and removed the barrier between us and God. This forgiveness is available to all who fully accept Him as their Savior.
But this is just the beginning. Before completing His time on earth to join His Father in Heaven, Jesus described to His disciples another important element of God's larger plan. to completely restore humanity to Himself:
“In my Father's house (Heaven) there are many dwelling places; otherwise, I would have told you. I'll go and prepare a place for you. When I have gone, and have prepared a place for you, I will return and take you with me, that where I am, there you may also be." John 14:2-3
God not only sent Jesus to remove the barrier of sin, but one day in the future, Jesus will return to bring all believers “home” to be with Him forever. .
The Bible says: The time of the fulfillment of the kingdom of God is near, so Repent and Receive the Good News. " .

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me. All people at the ends of the earth, return to Me that you may be saved, For I am God, and there is no other.
There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name given to men under heaven, by which we must be saved. Besides Jesus-Christ is the Son of the Living God. "
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent His Son into the world not to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God. The verdict is this: light has come into the world, but men loved darkness more than light, because their works were wicked. Everyone who acts wickedly hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be revealed. But whoever does what is true comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, for they were done in God."
Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, who created you from your mother's womb: I am the LORD, the Maker of all things; Alone I stretch the whole sky; With one hand I spread the earth.
I am the LORD, and there is no other god besides Me; There is no other God besides Me. I have equipped you, though you do not know Me,
All people at the ends of the earth, Return to Me so that you may be saved, For I am God, and there is no other.
I, Myself, am the LORD, Besides Me there is no other Savior.
