Jesus Christ, Adam....25 years, and still no phonecall? Could someone please hand him their f****** phone? ... - And a raincoat...He really-really-really needs it
'Thank You' 'Am Enjoying' 'All the' 'Beautiful' 'Music' 'Lyrics' and 'Yes' 'I Miss' 'You' and 'Will You' 'My' 'Adam' phone Me'? 'Am wanting to see You' and 'Give You a Big' 'Love' '4' 'You know' 'Am in Love' with You' 'I Love' 'You' 'Your' 'Darling' and 'Queen' XXXX
I personally think Adam's desire to never sing a song the same way twice is refreshing and one of the big draws to this band. The live songs take on such powerful and in the moment feelings and he just goes with it. After a while I feel I am pretty good at being able to sing along with any live track and be ready to flow with it regardless of whatever direction he took it. I feel if you wanna hear it just like it sounds on August and Everything After, then go listen to the original album.
Josef Newsom You obviously don't know the Crows that well, then. Listen to Across A Wire sometime. All the melodies are altered and it's amazing. If you want the original, you can still go listen to that. But now you have options. Have a nice day. :)
I know the counting crows and I have heard him say in interviews how they are always doing improvisations of their songs and he always tries to mix it up and change them a little sometimes he even likes to put lyrics to songs in the music that belongs to another song. They are great artist and Adam Duritz is a great singer song writer its just that after you hear the song on the album you expect it to sound a certain way sometimes they even change the tempo and all and it just doesn't even sound like the same song. When you make a song and your fans like it that is the way you gained those fans it just seems like your cheating your fans a little by changing it up like that. I know the counting crows I'm 33 and I used to jam out to rain king and mr Jones on MTV back in the 90's when they still played music on the channel. All of their albums are great. Its just my personal opinion I guess. I can't help how I feel about it. That's just my .02
Josef Newsom: I can relate to your comment. Still, I grant the artist the liberty to reinterpret their creation as they see fit. I have learned, the more prolific an artist is (and Duritz is quite prolific) the more their original compositions and creations are things of the past, sometimes a place to which they don't even want to return. For many, what has gotten them to that point of creation that reaches our ears has been so much repetition, particularly in the studio, that the final product becomes overkill for them. Moreover, many artists want to still feel creative in live performance; they are not content regurgitating the same old hits and songs and as a result reinterpret the song again and again to derive and convey something new about it. Adam Duritz particularly so. Frankly, it rarely works for me but I respect the effort, the attempt, the endeavor to do so. I immediately went back and listened to the original. I still prefer the original studio version.
Haven't heard this song in a long time. Absolutely one of the most heart bending songs I've ever had the pleasure of hearing.
Love this song for many years with wonderful memories. ❤️
Sounds like he was in Frederick, MD - "It's raining in Baltimore, 50 miles east"
