      Hi Joshua! Thanks a bunch mate! Big fan of your stuff too. Well you've got a power hammer under your belt, so I'm sure a press isn't outside of your grasp. I'd have loved to have built my own, but I don't understand hydraulics, and the pressures involved scare me to death. I figured for me, getting one made by someone who knows what they're doing was sensible. :)

    Do you think its feasible to realistically punch axe or hammer head eyes with this particular unit?

      @@PJTForging for sure. I am just trying to get the opinion from owners, instead of the manufacturer if you catch my drift lol. As you mentioned in your video, it's not cheap.

    What stuff did you make with the other press? I’m looking for thinning out stock and uniformity across the work piece. I guess punching hammer and other holes similar.

    Fuller dies will stretch and heat up the steel so it stays hot longer. A combo die setup is the bees knees.
    Cheers!
    Im ordering one myself. Love the compact design and the new power pack with the reservoir on the bottom and used for the base.

    Hey Phil! Congratulations! I bought one of those last spring. I’m so happy that I got one. Enjoy!

      @@PJTForging I just used it the other night, inspired by you, Denis, James and John, I decided to start a new layered Damascus project. The press works great! However, I didn’t prep/put my billet together like I should’ve. So, I will be starting a new one tomorrow afternoon. Make yourself a couple of squaring dies, you’ll be glad you did. It runs great. Maintenance is easy.

    Hi, Thank you for your very nice video which gives a lot of tips for the 12 ton press. You know, here in Tunisia we are lacking this kind of press, myself as a disabled person working for my family I strongly need more information concerning the cylinder used, the electric motor as well as the pump. If only you could help me by providing this information I would be very grateful and thank you in advance.

    The Sean Connery at the end was hilarious

    I quickly realized I had to relieve the edges of the flat dies on mine as they left ridges in my steel, but I'm sure you will get to that! My 12 Ton works well until the steel gets below 3/8" at which point it labors, but it's a good machine.

      Yeah, I've definitely noted that I need to redress the corners! It's one more thing to get to on a long list currently. 😅

    Brilliant stuff
    It looks like a great piece of equipment. I’m guessing there’ll be more pretty pattern welded blades in the future.

      I'm sticking with cumai for now, as I'm trying to get a better success rate with it. But we'll see! :)

    Definitely a hell of an upgrade over the old press. Lot more work room for longer projects, especially since I imagine that base can move further out.
    Was going to ask if you were thinking about investing in a foot control to replace the handle, until you said you weren't good with hydraulics, so I'm going to assume that's a no for the time being :D

    • @PJTForging
      @PJTForging  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would happily make a foot pedal for it as that's more to do with linkages than hydraulics, but I'm gonna see how I get on with the hand control for a while first as so far, it feels very user friendly. 🙂

    • @thespartan2224
      @thespartan2224 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I don't suppose you're making a lot of massive projects which would make a foot pedal necessary either.

  • @ehsfb20011
    @ehsfb20011 ปีที่แล้ว

    That's a huge import tax. also don't expect the press to move hardened steel like 1095 that well. The square die would dent it but you need the rounding dies to spread it much

    I'm fixing to upgrade my ribbon burner with a 440 cfm and the next project will be to see if I can build my own hydraulic press I've already got the motor. Cheers🔥⚒🔪👍✌
