Nice bit of acting by Geoff. The control he has with his voice is so amazing and he just seems to get better and better. Geoff and Voiceplay are always willing to gamble on the songs they pick and so far it has worked great. Great review. Geoff really showed off that tenor voice of his.
Voiceplay’s “if I were a rich man” showcases Geoff’s range as well as the phenomenal Ashley Diane.
Geoff has a recent solo you might enjoy "Til Then". It was written during WW2 and told through the voice of a soldier going off to war asking his love to wait "Til Then". Truly lovely. Kathy, his wife makes a cameo in it. She did ask him to do Shenandoah for her. He did and then did High and Dry (Radiohead) for himself. VoicePlay did a couple of very different videos: In My Room (Beach Boys), and Nothing Else Matters (Metallica).

I found this cover of his really recently, somehow I'd missed it previously, and it made me feel the feelings ha. It might be my favorite of his covers, and I love Misty Mountains and Ain't No Sunshine a lot. High and Dry is definitely worth a reaction!
Geoff is two and a half singers, rolled into one.
Interviews reveal that Geoff sang tenor first, before he ever sang bass. Obviously, that has been a few years now.
If you like his upper range in this, you should definitely check out "High and Dry" as it is amazing!! His "Shenandoah" is also beautiful 😍

I love his higher range.. I do love his low range too but what gets me in this particular arrangement the bass drops are appropriate and not overdone.. This shows his range brilliantly.. You really need to hear some of VP's other songs where he shows his higher notes. To coin a phrase, he's not all about the bass.... Perhaps listen to Shennendoa or Bare Necessities by Geoff. X
Shenandoah is my #1 song by Geoff. There's a cover of Geoff doing Radiohead's "High & Dry" with a very nice spread of his range and The Beatles "Blackbird". Kathy is awesome! Geoff has the absolute best hair of any guy I can think of. Always falls perfectly in nice layers. Not sure if we'll get a new song this month or not? Hopefully be a chat on his patreon this weekend.

@@allisoncameron-dicker2737 I know! Just a great voice coming out of that gorgeous human. Haven't met him in person but he seems so nice just from messages on Patreon and FB. I also have high appreciation for Tim Foust. I do get to meet him in July.
@@kelleyoneal2578 alas I'm in the UK.. I've met a number of 'music and TV stars' from my old job in hotel and restaurant management.. Most are humble and friendly.. (obviously some are not). I can see by his videos with Kathy and William that he's a down to earth and friendly person. 😊 That's so important when you are talking to fans. I would love to see them live but I can't travel due to disability... I'm sure you'll get to meet him at some point as it looks like their fan base is growing day by day... Tim Foust is another bass God... I'm sure you'll enjoy that meeting.... ❤️
@@allisoncameron-dicker2737 hopefully VoicePlay and/or Home Free will do European show if it's financially feasible. Less chance likely for VP since they have young kids and don't want to be gone from family too long. In February or March of 2020 VP was supposed to be on Disney Wonder cruise ship for just 3 days and it ended up being two weeks due to Corona virus. I live a day's drive from Orlando so that wouldn't be an issue. They would probably stick to southern states near Florida. I'm in Tennessee and Geoff said Layne has family in Nashville.

@@Iansco1 probably not the case here. Geoff and Kathy met when he was a freshman in high school. And they ended up working together at Disney and then the Beetlejuice show at Universal when they started dating. Kathy started doing the production work after she stopped singing. (See the Hearing Loss video on Geoff’s channel for a better understanding about that.)
I have to assume you mainly listened to him in VP songs, because he does stay in the lower register more there because he lets the group shine, rather than just himself. He can go all the way into tenor range, although his strong range is from G1 up to about G3, but he has people in the group who have much greater upper range so he only does small tastes of it, like his bombing runs as I call them when he suddenly climbs fast, and anyone who is a big fan of his knows that the end of this run will be subterranean. Go listen to Blackbird, because that one he really did stretch his vocal legs on his whole range.

Here's a tip you might appreciatie: I think you meant that his arrangement of the song was appropriately "simple." "Simplistic" means: "treating complex issues and problems as if they were much simpler than they really are."
