I remember being in Kinnick that day. Windy and humid as hell for November, the turf had so much pea gravel on it when we walked on the field after the game it was like being on an old skinned infield that needed to be smoothed. Walked by Dayne and man he was as big as advertised.I had a family friend who played 1995-1999 , so I got to meet a good number of the players after games as I waited with that players parents.
The ‘96 team won 9 games and shut out Texas Tech in the Alamo Bowl. The ‘97 team however, underachieved at 7-5. Like the 2010 team - picked by a lot of sources to be in the national title picture and injuries destroyed those hopes.
