Very useful. May I ask, how did you achieve the "spiral" effect shown at 8:43 ? I can't imagine what combination of cutting lines can "spiral cut" the tube.
It works the same way as I did at 7:30 Create a whole, that overlaps the edge of the oval shell and pull the bottom of the whole up to the middle of the shell. That's it.
In the registry (windows) I changed 'ShellMaxSegmentationNumber', 'ShellMinSegmentationNumber' and 'ShellSegmentationTolerMM' to 200, and that seems to have worked. Don't like messing with the registry though because I have no idea about what I'm doing.
Great tutorial, clear concise, no rambling, nothing irrelevant, funky music.
This is VERY nice, awesome tutorial, thanks.

08:39 That is the Shell house by ARTechnic in Japan!
That's correct. I let my students build the Shell House every semester. It's the best building to practise the shell and facade tool for them.
@@VIA-studio brilliant exercise, I love that house.

Thanks for this tutorial. I notice that some of the curves aren't too smooth. Is there a way of increasing their smoothness (resolution)?
I don't know how to increase the resolution of shells. Sorry. But maybe someone else does? I only know, that you can do that with morphs.
