I was able to change both lock cylinders in about 20 minutes. Very simple procedure, I did have one of the sticks fall into the door. To get the stick out, I used a coat hanger, bent the end into a hook, and used that and a flashlight to pull up the stick. Also, if your lock doesn't seem to be working right, try using the other cylinder, as one is meant to be on the left, and the other for the right (it does matter). Thank you 1A Auto for this great video, helped me a ton!
Simple as this procedure may be, this is possibly the BEST How-To video I've ever seen on TH-cam, my limited exposure notwithstanding. Thanks for a great presentation!
I have a 1998 Mazda b4000 Pickup. They are exactly the same as a Ford Ranger. When I need something from the wrecking yard, they also look up the ranger for parts. I watched this video and within 10 minutes I had my lock working. Just a big piece of dirt. Thanks
If the rod falls inside; just get a zip tie if you have 1 around; zip a small loop enough to reach inside the door lock hole and you pull the rod back out easily. 👍
I have a 95 ranger. My issue is the clip inside the door won't come out. It is like stuck. Until I get that out I can't get the door locks. Is there a reason it's stuck
You didn’t show and or say to use the new rubber weather grommet that goes between the lock cylinder and the door. Unless your kit does not include these to keep water and dirty out of the door.
+Michael Uilenberg This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
If that doesn't work just pull the door cover off that's what I did anyway I just wanted to see inside make sure wasn't lot of rust or any surprises. Plus I took mine off because I changed the speakers. Take the door cover off is just as easy.. they have video on that to 3 screws comes off.
I need this .... damned if I didn't lock myself out of my truck. Bad thing was it was running and guess what. The lock FOB's don't work when the vehicle is running. DUMB

Process works perfectly for my 1995 Ranger, noting the 1995 pawl is made of all plastic instead of metal & plastic.
Have to replace this because some tweaker tried to break into my truck with a screwdriver. Glad to know it’s an easy fix.

😮 I cannot believe it is this easy to replace this 😅
Anyone know where I can order the tab that holds the lock?

Hi, I take out the cylinder but it has wires connected on the top, do you know what are the cables for?
what about doing this on doors with the electric locks on them? do you cover how to do that?
Great video. I was able to change my locks both in under 30 minutes.
Unfortunately, this doesn't work for power doors. There is an extra arm on the lock not shown that makes it so you can't pull the lock out of the door
+Perry G Thanks for the feedback!
So much confusion on the web. But not from this site ! Thank you very much.
Bought these locks last month. It took about ten minutes to change them on my 98 Ford Ranger. Please take a pair of angular pliers. It will be easier.
+Ty Black Thanks for checking us out!
Do you sell just the clip?
Will replacing disable the remote?
Is the 98 Explorer the same procedure ?
i have a 94 mustang...clipis inside...can clip be removed with bare hands...i can feel clip barely fit hand in there...thanks

What about an 05 can I just buy a new lock cylinder?

How different is a 2004
Will this work for a 2004 ranger ?

@@1AAuto you could have just said I’m not sure that would have been fine as well .
Saved me a ton of time. Thank you.

what if the stick falls down into it?
+Andrew Gillette You may have to find something to pull it back out.

You forgot the Seal
Thank you!❤️
Not a fan of the chrome lock versus the black locks, makes it look cheap.
What if it’s Stuck
Very Good!..
So if I change The locks will I need two sets of keys one for the door and one for ignition That seems really impractical
