Excellent video! I love missiles! A few other notes: - If you *initiate* warp, your missiles will not hit the target. It doesn’t matter if you’re still on grid. - In my opinion, the only reason to use Javelin ammunition is for range. Faction has better damage, and the SAME application. Rage for damage purposes if you don’t need application. -Two rigor catalysts (reduced explosion radius) out-performs one rigor and a flare catalyst (increased explosion velocity) for application to smaller signature radii. -Lastly, the formula for speed and missile damage is a complicated one for speed only. For signature radius it is simply signature radius of target over explosion radius. Capping at 1 because you can only do 100% of missile damage. More on the eve uni wiki!
so if i get right with sig. radius if the missile has say 100 m explosion radius and the target sig. is 50 m and saying the target speed is less than the missile speed, its gonna do 50% of the dmg
@@MegaXrafa Yep. When I run with any missile based ship, I always have 2 set of ammo - the low application for Battleships and high application (like ..precision..), for any other target. If you are ever in doubt of which ammo to use, switch to the one with higher application.
@@MegaXrafa It’s not that the target’s speed is less than the missile speed, the actual relationship is more complicated than that, it’s the explosion velocity that matters. Missile speed affect only range and how fast the missile will reach the target. But you are correct, if the explosion radius is 100 m and the targets sig is 50, the missile can do max 50% damage before resists.
@@MegaXrafa If you have the time, Eve uni has already done several calculations on their missiles webpage. It also explains some stuff in case it doesn't make sense.
Brooo you earned yourself a sub. As a new-ish player, whos only done mining trying to figure out missiles, i am so grateful for this! Very good job, and so straight forward explaining, makes it so easy. Just wow, great job man!
Missiles can be summed up like this: Set off a firecracker in a mansion and you will severely damage the mansion. Set off a nuke in a garden shed and you wont even blister the paint. RIP the days when a citadel torpedo actually deleted frigates.. cause they are the same size and one is a fkn great bomb.
Ok so you said if you fire your missles and warp they fizzle out does this apply to torpedoes? I was under impression most stealth bombers would uncloak fire torpedoes and bail?
As a solo pilot who enjoys pvp, what I need is a battlecruiser with light missile bonus. I need something tanky that I can fly as a solo vs small gangs. Maybe too much to ask. I do have a Drake fit I was experimenting with, does decent damage vs many small fast targets. I dunno... as they say, its a +1 problem

@@jalferes99 yeah, thanks for correcting my mistake, now we just have to calculate the velocity factor.. and thats too big for me

I'm surprised you don't have more subs. You're videos are great and very informative.
dude hateless is the man
About 70% of eve players are subbed to him.

sorry to have to notify you on this but HateLesS just died recently in a motorcycle accident th-cam.com/video/tmGIwAt_9tQ/w-d-xo.html
Great video! Missiles are probably the most misunderstood weapons in the game
Rest in peace, HateLesS

Excellent video and explanations, very well done! 👍👍👍
4:40 is why I came... thanks mate, fly safe!
The way I remember is it is "RIGOR"ous to carry something big and fires "FLARE" out quickly, so rigor is size/sig radius and flare is exp vel/speed.
flight time is rounded to whole seconds . 9.1 second flight time means 90% will be rounded to 9 seconds and 10% will have 10 second flight time .
love this kind of vid! thank you!

Nope the tracking computer in your ship will disconet with the misslie and don't hit target.
wow...that was educational indeed
here i was thinking missiles are the ultimate weapon...thinking they don't miss ever
CCP please give this man a job
Agree, would be a great addition to their team. There would be A LOT to gain for CCP.
Im minmatar and have a talwar i love the missles on it i have 41k range on them so far
