Looks like lots of fun Jason... Back in the 80's the farms high HP tractors did one thing, tillage... Back then if we had grain carts, narrower tires etc,,, we could have put twice the hours on our "big machine"... Even in conventional tractors today you can get 400+hp tractors in row crop configuration, just amazing from my experience farming 30 years ago...
It is impressive how big a “row crop” tractor is today. In 1980 the Steiger Tiger 470 was one of biggest tillage machines on the market. Today this 9470RX is mid sized and could cultivate corn and beans.
Thank you for the description and video of how things work in the tractor. It gives me a better idea of what all they are doing in the tractor to work the fields. Keep up the great videos.
It was fun. Often I am tight on time to get more filmed but rain was rolling in so I took the opportunity to drive since more filming was not possible.
😁👍. There is only one Farmhand that is my good friend Mike Less. It was fun to get to run a few acres. I normally have such a filled filming schedule it’s rare to have time to get to enjoy some time behind the wheel.
@@bigtractorpower i just had to pick on you a little just because, i can lol. This is true about Farmhand Mike because, he truely is a farmhand. Any time you get a chance to sit behind the wheel of any farm equipment take it. GOD Bless.
Incredible that the seeder will match the strip that has been worked, the GPS must have improved, its been a decade or more since I've used one, sadly.
I should have filmed it but I made two turns that were long so the implement went down 20ft late. I went back to clean those two passes up. When I messed up the tractor was headed north originally across the field and the two goofs were 120ft apart. When I cleaned up the spot I took the first section on heading north and looped back on a u turn heading south. I engaged the GPS and the rows lined up perfect. I overlapped into worked ground about 5ft and those rows were doubly loose. It was neat to see how precise it is.
It looks like you were having fun driving that John Deere in the field there I still can’t believe they got 700 hours so far on that machine this year and there still more hours to go that’s just crazy
Kuhn needs to add a rear hitch and a Raven NH3 controller with knives to inject anhydrous ammonia while strip tilling. That horse would pull a big anhydrous tank easily.
Hello again, BTP. I envied you getting to drive that JD Cadillac. Were you getting to drive it alone or was the farmer or farmhand quietly sitting there? As always thanks for sharing with us!
Does this area have any rock? Been really thinking that this tool would work in clay/rock fields considering they have been no tilled for years but due to big machines I think our land is getting compacted
There were some stones in the field. You can see at the 12:40 mark the shanks tripping. While I was running I snagged a stone that got lodged in between the shank and the rear disk blade. I would talk to a dealer based on your conditions. I know in the Rochester, NY this Gladiators are popular. They have lots of stones and prefer running these to a mulch ripper. They will run a rock picker following the Gladiator and ahead of the corn planter. They run the strips in the spring.
@@bigtractorpower They have a demo running in upstate SC and are going to bring the demo out to our farm next week, so we will see how it works. Thanks.
That toolbar is HEAVY lotta tractor to play with it like that ! Most I've seen were mounted on pull type carts and we're putting down NH3 or dry fertilizer or both ! Those articulated tractors can be really hard on 3point mounted equipment , straight ahead isn't to bad but corners are too much ! Thanks for the video!
Tracks are great in tillage. Smooth ride and pull to move a bit faster. I just an 8RX 370 and an 8370R ripping in the and field. The 8370R would spin in the tough spots.
Great video of the 9470 in action, I would imagine a tractor that costs over 600,000 dollars would have to work 24 hour to get a return not to mention maintenance cost and some farms I notice in your videos have 3 or 4 of these beasts working, their profit margin must be very good. God Bless, Kevin fox England UK
Years ago while I was working ground and my mind would wounder I use to think about why do we work all this ground up for a skinny row of corn do the four tracks take more HP our is it the other way hard to believe the size of the equipment now days
It’s amazing how farming has changed. When I was a kid a field was plowed, cultimulched, disked and harrowed ahead of corn. Now it’s all done in one pass.
That time there two track was so great," why in the world would they build a 4 track?🤔🤷♂️ probably the same reason they claimed the rotor combine wasn't any good. Then built one..
@@bigtractorpower its got a newer cab with AC and heat and a decent satellite radio system and sound deadening and a air ride seat because that Detroit is annoyingly loud. He was going to put a pusher blade on it for snow but we dont get the snow like we used to in Indiana. Its not near showroom grade , but its nice
Oh man, if you had run through that wash with the high idler tracks like on my T9 yer camera would have been on the floor. yer pretty well selling me on the flat track system.
This is one sweet tractor. It did a great job handling the different types of conditions in the field. Hope you enjoyed driving it.
It was a nice handling tractor and a smooth ride.
Thanks for featuring our equipment!
I am a Kuhn Kruse fan. Great tillage machine. I have a Dominator video on the way.
Good for you! Im glad your finally getting to run one of these big green machines

Sweet !!!👍 I'll bet you felt like a king sitting in the operators seat instead of the little buddy seat.
I’m super excited someone gave you the opportunity to operate a piece of there equipment. I know you had a blast doing it.
It was fun. Often I am tight on time to get more filmed but rain was rolling in so I took the opportunity to drive since more filming was not possible.
Well done sod buster that is a good set up for sure thanks. Sam
It’s a nice tillage team.
So are we going to have to start calling fram hand Jason now lol. I am glad you had the opportunity to drive one.

That is an awesome combo. Those Rollers were really well designed.
They do a great job.
That was splendid, thanks BTP !
Thank you for watching.
Very good, like the chain finisher, nice tractor and implement
It’s impressive what the Gladiator can do in one pass. Years ago to get the soil looking like this you would plow, cultimulch, disk and Harrow.
@@bigtractorpower Amazing
That is a nice tractor , love that open country ,
👍👍
Nice performance powerful tractor 🚜 pulling very well.
Great video! Very nice tractor. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for showing how easy it is to run these new tractors I enjoyed the video
That's a nice and great powerful tractor!
I've lived in Iowa my entire life and never see any strip tilled fields. I don't understand why because the concept makes perfect sense.
It’s a concept that is gaining allot popularity here in WKY. The first strip till units showed up here about 5 years ago.
Jason you love the tractors and the land like I do
😁👍👍
Good looking tractor
👍👍
going to make the 4786 jealous
The 4786 is a classic. I will say it’s not as easy to handle as the 9470RX. Raising the implement is so much easier on the modern tractor.
Pretty nice machine.i am more of a full tillage guy but that is fine for another farmer that likes the min till approach
Awesomeness
Great video !!!
Awesome video. Love seeing other's strip till rigs. We run a 12 row Hiniker unit.
Very cool. How do you like your Hiniker.
@@bigtractorpower it's great, been running it for 8 years now. We use it for 95% of our corn and soybean acres.

Nice John Deere cool implement, dose a nice job🚜👍
It is a nice tractor for row crop work.
this machine looks good, i like it :) greets
It's a beast, just wait till you get to drive that 9620rx! It's a beast too. But I'd like to drive the 9460rx too
It was neat to drive the 9470RX for a while. It’s not often I get a chance to drive.
@@bigtractorpower yeah! The video was great! Thanks for sharing! Brian is a good man!

8RX 370 drive in the next video 😁👍
Pretty nice machine.
Great videos big tractor power.

The field sure pretty with the strait furrows
It has a neat effect.
It looks like you were having fun driving that John Deere in the field there I still can’t believe they got 700 hours so far on that machine this year and there still more hours to go that’s just crazy
Double crop soybeans after wheat and a corn crop really put hours on tractors here. That is why you see so many new ones here in WKY each year.
Nice to see from the operators view
Thank you for watching.

I got to run the 9470RX solo. It was a nice machine to drive.
@@bigtractorpower Alright. That's great.

We run a big ham brothers 8 row 40 behind an 8235r during March and put cotton in the ground where we tilled mid May and love the job it does

If you decrease your ground speed at the turns you will be able to make them tighter. Great video.
👍👍
Cool! What's it like to drive it and how was it to drive?
Get a versatile for half the price it will save you money .
Why they don't put fertilizer with the strip-till?
Great video btp
You had some rain on the windscreen and was wondering why there was no automatic windscreen wiper operation. ?
👍👍
No automatic on the windshield wiper. It was spitting a few drops but did not fully rain. .
How many shank 915 v ripper would this tractor handle
A 7 shank would be a good match. The 9620s get a work out with 9 shanks.
600000 wow
It’s a big investment for sure.

I was. It’s rare I get time in my filming day to drive. This time I did.
Ever time I see this style tractor I think of sci-fi movies
👍
I guess it’s time to upgrade you international to auto steer after driving this big green machine lol
Auto steer is nice but I like my 4786.
Would that tractor pull a 30ft. 862nt disc
Lol ha hah I pull a 60 footer. This ain’t no baby rattle
Yes.
👍👍👍

They never would do that and the sheep keep buying it farmers have a lot of money. Get a fendt..
It dose a very nice job, but it must put a lot of strain on the rollers.
The narrow tracks carry allot of weight. This machine is not quite a year old. Time will tell what the up keep will be.
You need to put a gro pro on your head when in the cab driving a $600,000 tractor. Made me nervous a bit.
I was very care full. I don’t want wreck the tractor or get hurt. The auto guidance does all the work.
600 grand....I wonder if they'd take my grandfather's 8020 for an even trade. Lol
It would make a good down payment 😁. With only 99 8020s and I know of at least one that was cut up it’s a rare Deere. They bring good money.
