It needed its mother who probably had to sacrifice her life so that sick people can "save abandoned" baby monkeys by starving them and pretending to feed them a little every now and then. If you are not prepared to carry the baby monkey 24/7 and feed it every two hours and with a transition process to return to the forest, you should not get a monkey!
