    Thanks for pulling out my parents and their friends driving 😂
    They certainly had not prepared for it despite having driven there a couple of times

      It is a beautiful part of the country. We are fortunate in SA to have all these beaches we can drive on.

    Hi Duncan. I noticed you have Clearview Mirrors on your 80. i have the same model 4x4 and was wondering what model suits the 80's
    Great Vids keep them coming

    • @4xTouring
      @4xTouring  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Glenn. The item code is CV-TL-80S-EB. This has the remote mirror adjustment feature which plugs into the 80's exisiting electrics. You can also get without this feature. Works out a little cheaper. I got them through Opposite Lock. Recently OCAM also markets a similar type of mirror. Hey Duncan great video. Something you might add to your collection of recovery equipment is a boat anchor that you can connect to your winch. Works great in the sand.

    • @4xTouring
      @4xTouring  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's something I never thought of. Especially for sandy terrain. Thanks for the tip.

      @@4xTouring Beats digging a hole and burying a bag or tire. You want a spade type anchor for sand.

      @@4xTouring Sherpa make a sand anchor for 4x4, I think it’s about $300, packs away flat but is around 16kg, or deadman make a product you bury which is about $350 and only weighs a couple of kilos and has a couple of other advantages/ ways it could be used, both quite expensive unfortunately

    Your excitement at seeing the dunes reminds me of the way I feel each time I hit the tracks. I can't wait to get down there after Christmas. You inspired me to organise this trip. Thanks Duncan.

      You will love it! Whilst you are there, do Lincoln NP. If you enter from the Sleaford entrance and work your way up the track you get some awesome sand dune driving too.

    G’day mate. I have the same vehicle. Want to replace my old exhaust. Yours sounds great. What exhaust are you running? Also I run about 12 psi in soft sand. Have done it for years. Always drive the sand in high range effortlessly. Never rolled a tyre off the beads and never had a problem running 12 psi and it’s easygoing on the vehicle. Hope this helps

    • @4xTouring
      @4xTouring  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    We were just there two weeks ago and the exact same thing happened in the same spot!
    We were in a holden trailblazer and were also pulled out by a local with an 80 series cruiser! What are the chances???

    • @4xTouring
      @4xTouring  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tarik. That's insane!! That particular spot the soft sand is chopped up quite bad.

    That's not bogged...try coffin bay beach incoming tide lapping at your wheels 3 people digging 4 winches trying to pull the truck out firmly stuck in the wet sand?.. now that is firmly bogged. Luckily for me we got it out just in time.took me weeks to get the sand out....

    • @4xTouring
      @4xTouring  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure that is bogged! Glad you got out safe. It can be tricky out there. A couple of years back a mate of mine had a similar experience. He drove over the sea week on the beach not realising it is all wet and soggy under neath.

    Hi Duncan, the audio quality of your last 2 videos are not up to your standard. Thank you for sharing

    • @Wdeane1957
      @Wdeane1957 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the drumming "music" over the top of when you're speaking just doesn't work. Makes it very difficult to follow what you're saying.
      And the music to those parts of video when you're not talking is very loud and actually detracts from the video footage.
      Have a look at Tim Bates 4wd Adventures. Very little music, mainly video with Tim takiing and sounds of when he's driving.

    • @4xTouring
      @4xTouring  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that feedback Arthur. Means a lot. I much appreciate this than a viewer just giving a thumbs down. I've been trying out a few different types of mics. It is a bit of a balance getting the right mix of ambient sounds and voice.
