What Is It About System Of A Down?!

  • What is it about this band? I can't pretend I wasn't aware of System of a Down, this song peaked my interest immediately when I heard it in the car. What can you say about this band? They have something unique about them and they execute it perfectly. I'm amazed they haven't sold more records. Are you a of System of a Down fan, if so why? And what about this Chop Suey? Are Kerrang! and Loudwire right, is it their best?

System Of A Down… What a band! Having worked as part of their machine and rise pre-Chop-Suey this song was far from their best. They were unique due too their Eastern European background and vibe. Daron was their creative juggernaut, but all had their strengths. Their”army” was relentless in Hollywood. I have to admit, I didn't get "the darkness" but I find your analysis and dissection captivating. Years ago Chilly Gonzales had a short lived analysis of music construction and he didn't follow up with the series that was ground breaking. I find it amazing that your pitch is so solid and you can quickly assess the pitch and chord progression so quickly ... its so incredible to watch and listen and I learn so much from your videos. Thank you ...

All their stuff is great. I love their Armenian sound mixed into their heavy songs. If you haven't, watch their live concert in Yerevan in 2015. (i think it was 2015...)it aired live on TH-cam so it's easy to find.

System Of A Down is one of my favourite metal bands due to their literally perfect albums. Not a single song on them is boring or feels like a déjà-vu. They also mix metal ideas and Armenian folk elements in a really clever way. Last but not least, they did some absolutely jaw-dropping live performances. Absolutely brillant, will always love them.
Thx for your entertaining videos, Justin!

    • @crimsonkate8241

@@butMydesign I'm no expert but from what I've heard it's similar to what Justin said in the video. In that they drew inspiration from from Armenian folk in terms of the chord progressions & melodies. Hope that helps.

@@butMydesign pretty much what Justin himself and @crimsonkate82 said. The scales and some chord progressions. Good examples are Soil, Streamline and Holy Mountains.

Soad... the singer and the guitarist voice just go together so well I liken them to something like the Beatles being that John's and Paul's voice go together so well... really George's voice went very well with them also.

Came from your TikTok. As someone on the falsetto side of singing, I'd love to see your opinion on Beast in Black. They've been out a while but their stuff is such a cheesy metal band, I'm always obsessed with them and love your analytics musically.

Justin. I remember having to go back to college at age 22 and sit with 16 pluss year olds and they were all ow “the fucking darkness are the Shit right now! , skateboarding around with really long hair and dirty white tree shirts. They were all my friends because I liked every body. Zap on 16 years later. I work all day listening to your entire channel as if it was just hanging in a room with a mate. The internet has been a dark shit pit for so long and it’s so nice to relax with a person who’s so intelligent and sound. Cheers mate!
