Hate to be "that guy" but I agree that without Jason, it just feels like David Spade after Chris Farley died. This used to be my favorite channel because they equally portioned chaos with science & history, creating a tone that was interesting and entertaining. I feel like there is potential here, would like to see some more honest research though. After living in NYC for a decade the previous NYC video and this one aren't really true. There are some generalities and no actual true Subway code such as: 1. There is always a reason that subway car is empty, don't go in there 2. Never count on the subway being on time during late night 3. A lot of the seats at the ends of each car are the most dirty, try to avoid. 4. Sometimes it's worth it to take a local train a few stops just to get out of the sweltering heat and stagnant air of the platform. 5. OMNY/Tap method is the way to go for travel, they even cap you out at max per week if you travel a lot 6. Mute your music/headphones when someone starts yelling. Gives you a heads up to get off at the next station or change to a different train car. 7. It somehow always takes 45 minutes to get from one location to another. There will be something to hold you up always.... 8. Nothing more frustrating than someone trying to get on the train before anyone is let off, you will be pushed 9. If you honestly have to be the dick standing in the doorway, put your foot in the way of the door so people know you are about to step back into your spot so they don't take it. 10. Friggin' take your bags off your backs and put between your legs, same with shopping bags. Less chance of pick-pockets but also makes room for people 11. New Yorkers actually watch out for each other but are loud and confident. That scares some people but it's not all in a mean loud way. There are so many more but please maybe crowdsource some actual languages and codes before you do new cities.

Dunno if they fixed the problem but it pissed me off when I saw my statements. Quick googlesearch can show quite a few results about OMNY double charge applepay

I grew up in Queens and moved,away before Uber and Lyft came in, but I'll tell you the only two times we would allow ourselves to take cabs. We were late for work, but I mean we've been written up several times, one more late and we're fired, late. Or, we're drunk. But, as with the late one, we have to be too drunk to take the subway home. That being said, I've taken a few cabs to work. Still have never needed a cab home from the bar though!

You can stand in the doorway opposite where the doors tend to open. That requires knowing the stations in that oarticular train. I used to commute with my twin babies in their giant stroller. I'd take the elevator at 231st on the 1 train and put the stroller against the opposite door. It completely blocked the door, but that's OK. It doesn't open until 96th, where I would get off and switch to the express. I'd take the express to 59th where you can switch to the D without stairs. I'd take that to 34th and switch to the F uptown. That's farther than I needed to go to make the switch, but otherwise there was no elevator and it was a huge stroller to carry at Rush Hour. I then took the F to Lexington and took the elevator up to the surface there (3 different elevators). That commute only lasted a few months. It was a HUGE pain in the ass.
Dunno about NYC specifically, but I've always been warned against standing near the doors on subways. Pick pockets and bag snatchers frequently target people in that area because they can grab your stuff and immediately jump out of the car as the doors close - trapping you on board where you can't chase them.

Metrocard is still pretty common even though they announced that they're trying to phase it out. The OMNY readers are just more convenient since you can tap your credit card on them and not have to worry about your metrocard's balance.

Emergency exits should be locked until a control system, Station or Central unlocked them. Bike exits should be at certain stations and under staff control.
Big tool for riding a subway, sunglasses. that way you can pay attention to what is happening around you but no one can see you doing it. You are just minding your own business but ready to respond at the same time.
