This is one of the logical video i have seen about trailer backing. If you are watching any videos on backing, all you need to see is the movement of the steering wheels, and how the end of the trailer sligns itself with the hole.
He's trying to explain the 4x4 method of backing. Get the butt of the trailer in the hole then 4 ft to right x 4 ft to the left then repeat. Moves the front of the trailer without moving the butt.

what is half way point space? when he turned hard right and pull forward. how he would know how far he has to go before turning the hard right?
If you have room, use it. He coulve turned it into an offset. You use a 45 when ever you have no room.
it was done that way because its a 45/45 alley dock backing maneuver tutorial.

You are supposed to take it off when backing a truck. You will need to stick your head out and look , and GOAL at times.
