The parents in the first story acting in the appropriate manner. They believed their children when they told them something happened, they tried to investigate the incidents, and moved to keep their family safe. I wish all parents acted in this manner when their children come to them with serious issues.

For the 3rd story, I'm not sure why they didn't call the police. Their neighbor is obviously hiding something and the screaming further proves there's something weird going on in that house.
They should definitely ask police to do a wellness check. If nothing else, could be elder abuse going on.

Story 2 person made me so mad. 4 random men in their 40s using loud tools at some odd time in the morning, and you decide to go to sleep rather than call the police. Stupidity

She literally had no care for what they were using that drill for or what they were even doing there in the first place they could’ve committed murder or hiding a body but she just felt too stressed to deal with it these people never learn until they find out that that person actually did commit a murder later and they could’ve done something if they called the cops I see it all the time in my true crime cases

@@zXHawkxEyeXz my husbands a construction worker at least in the United States every state has a noise ordinance and In PA the time is 11pm -7 am so you can’t work during those hours legally and each state has a similar law with the time varying from 9-11pm depending on the state so no that would’nt have made sense lol

Story 3 Theory: The two people looking out the window are corpses. The creepy 20-something-year old who awkwardly answered the door killed his parents 3 days prior and positioned them to endlessly glare out the window. I swear I thought the story was about to head that direction

What about the screams that came a few days later and stopped abruptly? As if they were intentional and lasted long enough to be paid heed to.

That was literally my thought as well.
Out of those three stories, it really bugs me that none of them thought to call the cops. All of those moments were screaming for a 911 call. Those weird neighbors could have been behind bars by now. Instead, they're still out there, lurking in the dark, doing God knows what.

On the balance of probabilities, I'd say, no, they're not. They're probably just some nosy neighbours who like to (shock horror!) look our their own window from time to time.

First story..I'll never understand why parents have upstairs bedrooms while letting their young kids sleep alone downstairs. Especially when they thought the neighbor was watching them.

This neighbor moved into the neighborhood after them, so presumably the kids already had the downstairs bedroom and hadn't had a problem before some dude decided to be a freak. Can't really fault the parents.
If you suspect someone is spying on your kids, why not buy this really magical device called a curtain or blinds smh.

Putting kids alone on a lower floor is not a good choice for safety.

That last story.... it's absolutely insane that they didn't call the police. No empathy at all for what could be happening to those people next door!
In the first story, the parents should have reported CP. If he told the cops that he suspects that the neighbor is taking pictures of his kids in the pool and sleeping, the cops should have checked the creepy neighbor's camera roll. CP is a serious offense that the cops should've suspected. If needed, they probably could've easily gotten a warrant to search his property. That old guy needs to be behind bars.

What killed me is the kids room is below the parents... What parent has the kids on a lower floor, normally parents have the lower floor and kids would be above... would of loved to be on the lower floor as a kid easier to sneak out lol

Why were your children sleeping in a bedroom on the first floor making them more vulnerable while their parents are sleeping upstairs? If something happens (as it did) anything could happen to the children and I mean anything. Put your children on the same floor as yourselflves. Common sense.
There probably weren't other bedrooms upstairs and also the neighbour moved in after them iirc or at least wasn't acting weird until definently after the family was moved in with their stuff situated
Yeah probably should be closer to the kids but also I think the parents did fine. Believed everything their kids said and confronted the neighbour multiple times before filing a police report and moving. Can't blame the parents for anything

Where I live, police wouldn't respond to any of these. Maybe they'd give a call back three days later to ask if everything was okay. I just don't understand people who say, "call the police!" They're not genies who just conjure themselves out of thin air before you. Unless it's a life-or-death situation, the cops are not coming. At least that's how it is where I live in Canada.

My mom and I are sick right now and have been for a while. Our Christmas probably won’t be as nice as usual because of this. And when you’re sick you don’t feel like doing much obviously so having Mr. Nightmare post is very nice because I can lay in bed while also listening to his stories. @@mehdi1163 I thought the exact same. Quite possibly the worst MN story I've ever heard tbh. All that build-up and anticipation for literally nothing. It was just some scared kid who didn't have a good night's sleep due to loud noises. Granted, those 4 men shouldn't have been working at that time of night, but still, it was way too long for it to be nothing in the end.

Story 3… call the police. My first thought was the elderly couple in the window were dead corpses. Especially with how weird the guy was when he answered the door. Then with the screaming, either it’s a guy with some serious mental health problems and he’s yelling erratically for no reason or it’s possibly elder abuse. Either way, these people should have called the police. Something is definitely wrong with that situation.
Elderly people can have dementia which causes them to act erratically and even yell and scream. Most of the time, people let their imagination run away with wild thoughts and think that the neighbors are doing something wrong. In fact, there is a movie about it.

The second story isn't a scary story, it's a social interaction. You heard noise, ask people to stop, they stopped.
The men are obviously playing that music to pretend that a teenage party is going on to mask the noises of what they're doing.

Story 2 - she said it was weird that middle aged men were listening to early 2000s pop songs bc that's what teenagers would listen to...does she know when people who are now middle aged were teenagers? Oh sweet summer child, sometimes us olds like to listen to the music of our youth, also. It seems like she probably caught them stripping things from the apt., they bounced, and the rest is just her scaring herself. 🤦♀️
Something is off about them doing that in the middle of the night though, you can't do stuff like that at midnight in an apartment.

Here's a short horror story- as I sat in my room in complete silence.. the only noise were the restless thoughts running thru my head. I accepted my fate knowing I was powerless to the pending outcome.. I grabbed my last blunt, sparked up, inhaled deep and whispered in a low chuckle...
"I'm really gonna die a virgin..."
Going through depression and anxiety during 2023, listening to Mr Nightmare horror stories is my highest point of the day

In the first story I couldn't help but notice that a camera flash through a window would basically result in having overexposed pictures. Still creepy.

For people asking about “updates” on previous stories he has done, do you know how much of a logistical NIGHTMARE that would be going back to find the stories he’s told to get updates
It'd be easy, as they are almost all from red dit, and they post updates to stories on there all the time. Not that it really matters, as 99.9% of the stories are made up anyway
Story 2. Workmen renovating a flat lose track of time and work late into the night. Neighbour asks them to stop, which they do. How disturbing!

man that second story gets me so mad. The over thinking is so crazy there. She wakes up to guys doing construction or something in their dorm and starts judging the guys choice of music?? Then gets scared when they turn off the music and stop when she asked them too. She also says she woke up in the middle of the night and was scared it was them outside her window but it coulda either just been her waking up randomly in the middle of the night or them leaving since it was only like 30 minutes after she went back to bed. so stupid

Story 1 was frustrating to listen to. It just sounded like a couple of helicopter parents just looking to be "victims" of something. They just openly accuse their neighbor of one of the worst things imagineable with 0 hard evidence, and when he's (very reasonably) offended by the accusation, it's "suspicious"? What? Yeah, no wonder he's avoiding you, you're a weirdo who keeps accusing him of spying on your kids.
Then story 2: She's upset about them making all of that noise at night? Totally reasonable. Asks them to stop? Also reasonable. But then she goes, "Oh no, they looked at me," and runs away to her apartment, scared? Why? They literally didn't do anything. Sure, she claims they looked at her like "predators," but we have no way of knowing what that even means from her perspective. Plus, they didn't cat call her, follow her, nothing. They literally just looked at her and she got upset despite the fact that she's the one who confronted them. She's literally the stereotypical college student who gets easily offended at random things
