      When a male lion(s) joins a new pride he kills or chases away the existing male and takes over his role.
      He also kills all cubs from the previous male lion, so that the next generation of lions are from his bloodline.
      It's strange that he didn't kill the Cubs before trying to mate.

    • @spareaccount1969
      @spareaccount1969 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @gravityfallscanada 😂 this is a drama series, it’s highly doubtful a male lion would kill cubs he had already accepted, even if they weren’t his own - they don’t just live peaceful around accepted cubs only to randomly kill them.
      It’s much more likely to be a death from poisoning, illness, injury rather than an attack by the prides male lion.
      There are only 20 thousand lions left in the world. Seeing how their population was decimated, with the odds stacked against them, we are very lucky nature has it’s ways to help with genetic diversity.
      Cubs need to survive for 3 years in order to reach adulthood.
      Unfortunately most male lions don’t manage to keep a pride at all & even when they do, on average they only hold a pride for 2 years.
      Cub mortality rates can be extremely high especially due to the frequent takeovers - it’s beneficial for genetic diversity & the survival of the species itself for cubs to reach adulthood - even if they end up being raised by different males.
      With many being overthrown in a matter of months - lionesses are sometimes already pregnant when the takeover happens, so the litters arrive without their actual fathers present, usually they are accepted. Only cubs already born when the takeover happens are killed.
      Honestly it’s blessing as if born with their actual fathers, if a takeover happens they’ll be killed.
      However being born just after the new takeover, it means they have a stronger chance of getting 3 years of protection & reaching adulthood.
      This is their best chance, unless they are born into a pride headed by a strong coalition group of males - sometimes having more than 5 pride males! Making cubs much more likely to survive to adulthood with their own fathers.
      Literally just a part of nature.
      The instinct to protect their young is strong, sometimes a few Lioness’s will leave the pride in order to raise their young alone, in order to avoid the culling of a takeover & see their cubs a chance of survival. Sometimes forming a new pride, or sometimes then reintroducing the young lions back into to the pride once they are older - in which case the pride male/males either accepts or rejects them.

This clip is full of emotion I can feel what she is feeling grieving the mother is crying making sound out of grieve she is crying grieving can't believe her cub is dead also wants to know find out what happened who did it. The most touching place is when she grieves and when she looks into the distance with eyes full of tears man my heart gout out to this mother lion my heart is hurting literally started hurting when as soon as I started watching her come down the tree and finding her baby cub this place

      @@christinerose4839 Hi Christine Rose. I think maybe you didn't understand the premise. My comment is a response to the OP (Original Post) that states that the BBC produces nature films like it was a (human) soap opera, to which I agreed. If I had responded to a comment (a response to the OP), my comment would be directed towards it by @username. This is pretty straight forward, and I don't see the relevancy of your statement, as the fact you mention is not in dispute in either.

    Really love kali and her cubbies. She’s an absolute hardworking provider and mom with 2 losses. Her cubs belong to one of the pride male lions in that pride. Why should she look outside for another lion dad? It’s likely she came into season again and that’s the reason for the pride male’s interest. If her cubs are two year or so, it’s time they become independent. Possibly, this was the reason for the tough love from the pride male. It’s unfortunate no one got a good look at the cause of death to know the real cause of death. Maybe it was a snake bite? Why did the cub die under the tree. It separated itself due to its illness or injury. I always mourn the death of any cub. Kali investment, a real loss.
