- The first session of the 18th Lok Sabha started today. Newly-elected MPs, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will take the oath from 11 am onwards. This is the first Parliament session after the general elections were held from April to June. Pro tempore Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab, a seven-time MP, will administer the oath to the new members of the House. 280 newly-elected MPs, including PM Modi and his Council of Ministers, will take oath, today, while 264 newly-elected parliamentarians will take oath the next day (June 25). After the oath, it will be followed by the election of the Speaker on June 26 and President Droupadi Murmu's address to a joint sitting of both Houses on June 27. The Opposition-led INDIA bloc, buoyed by its improved showing in the Lok Sabha polls, where it won 234 seats compared to 293 by NDA, is likely to raise several issues in the House, including NEET-NET row, the appointment of Bhartruhari Mahtab as pro tem speaker and the Kanchanjunga train accident

The PM has not received the mandate from Indians, loud and clear: no more dictatorship, arrogance, street language, religious fanaticism, despotism, anarchy, hearlessness of the past 10 years. No,due to some internal protests(It was not an armed rebelion to overthrow the governement) you cannot claim nation wide emergency even if it was to be declared it should have been only in affected areas not entire nation. There are provisions that emergency can be declared for nation or any particular area.

Why do you need to talk about the emergency - dear me BJP on the defensive. As every social scientist will tell you the last 10 years have been worse than the emergency because it is an undeclared emergency. There is no transparency. Sharia Law applies to criminal law not Civil Law. Nothing was discussed in Parliament and laws passed violating the spirit of the Constitution. Defensive? Wonder why? What happened to Federalism?
Why did the President ask Modi to form the govt? Did the BJP elect him as their leader after the elections? What happened to a vote of confidence? They started this session by defying our democratic traditions. SHAME

Had Mrs Gandhi imposed the revised CrPC which Modi ji is imposing on the nation on 1st July 2024 all opposition leaders who were arrested during emergency would have remained in jail till today as there is no provision of easy bail in the new laws 2024.
