For the 2022 season, the two safety cars are Mercedes GT Black and Aston Martin Vantage. I am not sure about the Vantage, but GT Black is arguably the highest-performance roadcar by Mercedes, and a proper GT car in its own right. And its need to be: F1 cars are fast even at 30% of their speeds and one needs an almost proper racecar to even bunch them up.
Bernd Mayländer is no ordinary driver, he`s an ex racing driver. When the safety car is out on track he`s really pushing that thing but the F1 cars look really slow behind it.
It's an old clip, he's been the safetycar driver since 2000 but he also raced in DTM before and even during his first years as SC driver and did the Le Mans 24 hours for Porsche in the GT class
Half of the races they use an Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the other half a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT-R. Both brands also have a different model medical car which comes every race as well
this guy prob has the best job ever if ur a fan of the sport got a comfy seat cause normally yes those merc seat's are nice and i guess AM seats would be on the same level (unless off course more likely they be sitting in some modified chairs for racing might be less comfy to sit in al day then your couch I don't know just my gues ) , you get too watch the race and get real life inside updates you normally don't get and for the cherry on top sometimes u even get to drive in the race
Nice video. Maybe you should react to a video about Nyck de Vries. He did a fantastic job in Monza and it would be a crime if he doesn't get a full time seat next year.
I know I've seen a video about incidents involving the safety car in the past, so yes things have happened but it's been a while that I can't remember it all... I do remember a couple of the clips because they're things I saw live, if I'm not mistaken it's from the F1 channel, no idea if anyone else has done something in the likes.
Paddles are faster than a proper manual gearbox. You can totally drive an automatic on an f1 track simply because and auto is still a damn car. Driving an automatic would not make someone drive into the safety car. JJ its very clear you are not a car guy so don't even try.

2:05 It's sometimes a Mercedes, sometimes an Aston Martin.
They divide the races in the year. I think half for each. Mercedes is now red and Aston Martin is green.
