    this does not work! I don't have https as an option and dell has removed support for ftp on this server. I download the files but cannot update it from the command prompt. Last effort was to bust out an old xp pc and I can access the iDRAC 7 and when I proceed to update it says fail on every file. .efi, .bin, .exe... everything. Does anyone know how to actually update the r720??????

      Dell has been removing older generations from their life cycle repo, This goes for anyone else that is having trouble doing Mass Updates. We have found a website that actually walks users through the process of having their 12th Gen servers updated. Please visit updateyodell.net/ for more information.

      it is because you don't have a more recent version of idrac. Try installing an OS and downloading and installing every single version of idrac one by one. For example if you are in 2.10.10.10. install first 2.15.10.10, A00 and so on.

    For Step 2 of 3: Enter access Details, what if there is no HTTPS to select?

    It's showing warning : Lifecycle Controller does not import HTTPS certificate at this. When press continue another critical error is showing (SUP0539). Enter another repository location that contains the desired update packages and retry the operation. Please help me to sort this issue.

      If you've found a solution, I'd love to hear it. I've tried using HTTPS, HTTP, FTP, and a flash drive. I *think* the solution might be to create a bootable USB with Dell Repository Manager installed, then load the updates into that. If that doesn't work, then I'm out of ideas. I was really hoping to have my server running by now, but such is life.

    hi @cloudninjas, when did the feature for network online share go into effect? mine doesnt have that as an option, im assuming i probably need to upgrade the bios to get there?

    You made that look to easy. I have tried everything and I cant seem to get my r720 to update. I have updated the bios and LCC manually and still gives me errors. Any suggestions?

    Does this do the updates straight to the latest firmware versions or does it incrementally update from your current version up to the latest version?

    • @cloudninjas
      @cloudninjas  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. This will be a one time update to the current, most up to date FW. However it will not continuously update your FW over time. Essentially you will need to repeat these steps every so often to keep up to date. Thank you. Smash that subscribe. 😁

      @Cloud Ninjas Correct me if I'm wrong please, but I think Dan is referring more to the increments in which the firmware is being updated, idrac for example. I recently acquired an r720xd and have read horror stories about people updating straight to the newest firmware from a very old version and bricking their idrac. Have you guys experienced anything like this?

      @@barrycarter3029Can you let us know how it went? My first enterprise gear (r720) is in the mail. I have been working woth consumer boards for decades and there is often a similar situation with UEFI/BIOS. Mobo manufacturers thankfully (ime) let you know which update(s) is/are required before patching up to current version.
      I am very excited about my adventure into homelabbing. The plan is to take my time and not brick anything. Thanks in advance!

    I get a message saying to choose a new repository. I followed exactly as shown, except for ipv4 settings, as ours is already set as a static IP.

      I'm having the same issue. I can't go through HTTPS, HTTP, or FTP. I also get messages trying to use a flash drive. I *think* my next steps are to get the Dell Repository Manager installed on a bootable USB drive, then try that. If that fails, I don't know what to do.
      Did you have any luck figuring things out?

    When I try to do this method. Its showing me a error (SWC0066) critical error.

      I am getting this as well. Plus I do not have the option to use HTTPS, only HTTP. Says to verify login credentials.

    • @MadRobDestroyer
      @MadRobDestroyer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iammoeski8928 I haven't been able to get this to download the updates but to switch from http to https you have to update the IDRAC software. I had to load a live Windows media which can be done with Rufus and install the exe that way then it will allow you to do https.
