I had a fixed wing pilots license many years ago. I have not been in command of an aircraft since the middle 1970's. Watching this just eats my heart out. I love it so much. Gyrocopters must probably be the ultimate flying thrill out there ! I WANT ONE !!!!!
OMG... that has to be the best Gyro vid on You Tube! I just moved from Southern Utah and miss that landscape! This video captured it so well! Thanks much for posting -- but you really need to post more... trust me, us flying junkies never get sick of this stuff! Thanks!
It was this video that prompted me to buy my Air Command gyrocopter, I am retired now so I spend many of my days at my hangar and everything is good. Don't wait, fly now.
That is really neat! By the quality of the flying, the bird and the video production, I'd say he is one cool cat. His boat video is the best I've seen on Lake Powell.
You've taken the flying and video work to a whole other level. Really gives a true picture of what we got in this sport for...keep them coming. Love to hook up some day and do some air to air in your area. Maybe we'll see you at Rotors Over The Rockies in Brigham City 2013.
Fantastic footage! Really well put together. A gyro would be perfect to fly in an area like that. You don’t have all the bumps and shaking of a fixed wing.
Sick sick sick! Shadow chasing, mountain proxiity, plane chases and low level - what more could there be? Very well done, I used to fly my trike early in the mornings and chase rivers, trains etc. What a blast! I would recommend you get a pod mounted gimbal for the camera and maybe upgrade to the latest GP. Awesome!
Hey Captain Utah, I love the video! Does this gyro count as one of the ultralight ones so you don't have to have any kind of license? It looks like if you took off the faring it would be an ultralight, is that correct? Thanks!
I happened by this video and love the quality. When I was a lad there was a guy in the trailer park who had a frame and two blade rotor. He used to tie it between trees on a windy day and test it out. I gave me the bug but I never got into it. I'm wondering what model this is and what does one cost today?
This is a modified Air Command...the company is not actively selling kits, to my knowledge. Most new kits are AutoGyro USA, Magni, or ELA. (AutoGyro is the top-selling brand in the world.)
For anything more than an ultralight, you'll need a minimum of Sport Pilot rating, which only take 20 hours to acquire. The aircraft shown is not ultralight. (Ultralight is under 254 lbs., which is pretty bare-bones.)
Beautiful scenery but there's no way I would fly that in a two-stroke gyro alot of area looked sketchy for an emergency landing now 912 4 stroke yes sir sign me up!!!!!
I'm not trying to sound rude, but why would you fly an auto gyro over a trike or small plane? They seem a little less intuitive to fly and although they have the autogyro effect to "save" you from a fall, they are mostly flown close to the ground, clearly negating any safety merit it has over a trike. Are they more stable or more often flown higher?
Old question but I can answer for anyone else who's curious. I flew my MTO Sport from Austin, TX to Los Angeles to San Francisco and back 2 years ago. On 2 other occasions I flew from DC to Denver CO and DC to Austin. They are remarkable machines. Unlike trikes and small planes, I can fly in winds 35 mph or more without issue. I have also flown mine to over 10,000 feet, and I have friends who have gone to 15,000. Check out my Facebook group: "Gyroplane - the ultimate recreational aircraft", over 2,000 members.
It's in the St. George, UT / Hurricane, UT area. Tons of red rock and petrified sand formations. Bryce Canyon and Zion National park are all within an hour or so. This is southern Utah, almost to Nevada (Southwest Utah). It's worth a visit. I lived there for 6 years and loved it.
What's better than Utah scenery? And it is always enjoyable for me to see someone who is really good at what they're doing. He puts a lot of faith in his engine's reliability--more than I ever would......but that's just me. Mr. Careful. Thanks for a great video. Well edited, too. BTW, does it really need that music?
Air Command is effectively no longer in business. Check out www.autogyrousa.com for the number 1 selling gyro in the world, the MTO Sport. I've flown their products coast-to-coast, they're fantastic.
Funny how people think that music will make their videos rock, and it usually doesn't work. Some instrumental jazz might work here but most people only know pop music.
The music awful, the flight amazing as flying is always \(^v^)/! But we want the sounds of the machine itself, the props, blades, engine, wind rush :-y
Nice view, but you lose an engine and you're in a world of hurt, near impossible to find any safe place to put down when your flying over rocks and canyons...

Which model are you going to buy

Outstanding flying and super editing!

just found this video.......FANTASTIC........could not have been more beautiful
Very good! Thanks for sharing.
Still the best freakin gyro video on TH-cam!! Music and pilot are awesome!!
Wow.. Great flying & video!
Great flight, flying a gyro is something that only someone who knows the great capabilities of this awesome flying machine can understand.
Nice looking machine…clean.

GREAT Video! Thanks so much for sharing!
This video puts me in a good mood, amazing landscapes, camera work!
Gorgeous video.
Fantastic footage! Really well put together.

A really excellent video. I think that I'll have to investigate thisma little further!

Gyros... Absolutely the koolest of all flying machines !!
Love this video, Very Good , Very Good ...
awesome!!! kick butt video!!!
This is what I called flying. Utah is my favoriite state. I go there at least twice a year.
Great Video!!! Great Looking A/C!
Sick sick sick! Shadow chasing, mountain proxiity, plane chases and low level - what more could there be? incredible flying zone.
Awesome, I would love to fly my gyro there, lucky you
Nice rig...looks like St. George area
Phantastic video!!
When you see that shadow behind, it's so perfect it looks like you're being chased by a black one (/°o°)/!
What are those black cylinder things on both sides of the craft are they foul tanks and are they both filled with fuel or just one only
Those are 3.5 gallon auxiliary fuel tanks, adds 7 gallons to the 5 gallon seat tank.
Nice! I've flown a lot of platforms, but not one of these. Inefficient? Yep, looks like it. But also looks like a lot of fun!
These are no more inefficient than standard fixed wing prop planes. These are actually more efficient, less runway required for takeoffs and landings.
Nice touch n Go on the highway..
OOOoooo!!!!! Vau!!!! Ja, ja!!!!!!! Das ist fantastic! !!!!!!! Oooooouuuuu!!!!!!
I'm afraid I have caught the Gyrocopter Flue...and I'm liking it a whole lot.!! Looking for Pre-owned Gyrocopters now. Any tips out there?

A satellite phone is a must. ...

In this video, even the music is great!
So good. Out of what airport do you fly?
You still flying?
Wow I want one of these ...
Nice work !!
Music is a killer
great video
What kind of gyro is it, and where can I find one?
I happened by this video and love the quality. When I was a lad there was a guy in the trailer park who had a frame and two blade rotor. Amazing video and awesome flying!! Do you need a pilot license to fly one of these babies?
For anything more than an ultralight, you'll need a minimum of Sport Pilot rating, which only take 20 hours to acquire. The aircraft shown is not ultralight. (Ultralight is under 254 lbs., which is pretty bare-bones.)
Beautiful scenery but there's no way I would fly that in a two-stroke gyro alot of area looked sketchy for an emergency landing now 912 4 stroke yes sir sign me up!!!!!
Очень красивый полёт,но очень опасный в случае отказа двигателя! /A Vety beautiful flight, but dangerous in case of engine failure .
Soglasen.
Especially in a 2 stroke engine in the 912 Rotax 4 stroke fuel injection no problem 👍
How much forward speed is required to maintain enough rotor rpm for level flight?
Most gyros will need 20-30 mph.
Belle balade, merci.

Where at in Utah is that??

I would rather not have the music as well.
video molto suggestivo......sarebbe un'esperienza da fare... nà meraviglia... beautiful
Where can I buy that? and how much does it cost?

This makes me soooooooooooo jealous of you.
非常牛!不知需要多少钱呢?
Моя-твоя не понимай??!!
That was cool, I think I saw the entrance to an Underground Alien Base in the side of the canyon wall.. The local Indians would know.

Wspaniała maszyna. Gratulacje dla twórców. A mówią, że człowiek nie potrafi latać. To musi być wspaniałe uczucie.
pretty cool

Had to turn off that irksome music, but nice footage.
I WANT TO HEAR THE SOUND OF THE ENGINE AND ROTOR, NOT THE MUSIC, OTHERWISE, GREAT VIDEO.
The music awful, the flight amazing as flying is always
\(^v^)/! But we want the sounds of the machine itself, the props, blades, engine, wind rush :-y
He must be running one of them thar 100% guaranteed not to fail reliable engines.
No shite! Not much room for engine failure.
Two stroke Rotax 582, 62 HP
ok again great video rouined by music why???
Comandante concederia o projeto do gyroplane pois quero construir um para meu uso instagram @wandson.oliveira.5. moro no Brasil, Rio de Janeiro!
Nice view, but you lose an engine and you're in a world of hurt, near impossible to find any safe place to put down when your flying over rocks and canyons...
Commander would grant the gyroplane project because I want to build one for my instagram @ wandson.oliveira.5 use. I live in Brazil rio de janeiro!
.................
Film quality super, music sucks doesn't suit the film at all.
I enjoyed the video but had to turn of the awful music.
Great video but gayest soundtrack.
electrically sculpted landscape...
stop with the gay 80s music
Seems you’re a little sensitive, must be a millennial
Почему такой маленький киль ?👽☝
