Tires in the begining were natural rubber , which is flat white in color ,They added black to the rubber mix when people complained about having a hard time keeping white tires clean . ICM makes some crazy detailed 1/35 rare military subjects and I was glad seeing them branch off into some 1/24th autos from the brass era that are unique , Will be nice to see your build of this kit and of course future builds of ICM and other kits , bottom line for me used to be painting all the parts while on the sprue trimming them off the sprue and touching up bare spots then assembly . Touching up as needed , in the caveman days of the hobby that was how I used to build them . We didn't have spray booths or other fancy doo-dads , rattle cans and glue that made you high as a kite , brush paint was what we had lol . Keep up the great builds and videos , Thank You ! p.s. many military paint companies like Valejo paints etc. have a version of brass for bullets and artillery shells that imitates brass very well . p.s.s. the IMC GT40 , Cougar 2 , Mustang 2 and even the drag version of the VW have tiny parts very hard to build , paint etc back in those 60s sniffable glue and rattle can , paint brush days . No wonder so few kits built in that era still survive , and no wonder so many of them are glue bombs or paint bombs !
Barbatos Rex just tested some Inspire Candy Gold over chrome that looks pretty darn good and close to polished brass. Also Alclad has a Polished Brass that I have tried that is not bad, if you can get it and Ammo has a rebranded Alclad named A-Stand that might have their Polished Brass. The Alclad and A-Stand goes over gloss black base but I am going to try it over chrome someday. He also mixed his own using clear yellow and clear brown over chrome and foil and has a separate video comparison on that too.
Matthew, many thanks for a very informative and enjoyable build. I’ve done a few 1/43 cars and have had success using 5 minute epoxy attaching very small PE parts. And it works well on painted surfaces
Matthew, I paint parts first, but I use a scalpel to scrape the paint off where I will be glueing. I do not use super glue if possible, I use testers liquid glue. Nice build so far.
There's a Model T Museum in Richmond, Indiana. If you're not already aware of it, it's very comprehensive, it's well worth a visit being you're a pre-war car guy. I'm getting ready to make that exact kit, thank you for the video, like you it is my first ICM as well.
Thanks Matthew for the information about the kit. I have this same kit in my stash and when I decide to build it, I will definitely use your feedback to build mine. We only disagree on a small detail, I like the box art paint scheme and my idea is to follow it when building it 😊. Thanks so much for sharing the video, looking forward to see next segments 👍
Testors makes a flat brass in the little bottles. It really looks like brass, but it dries flat, and looks pretty good. I use it on carburetors and brake boosters. You could hit it with Tamiya gloss, 2K clear, or Future to get it glossy. Nice work on the model. Assembling it before is a good idea with all of those small parts. Great color choice. I think I would go with solid black too, because I don’t like the box art either. Thanks for sharing.
Suggestion: bare metal foil with a coat (or two) of clear yellow with a tiny touch of orange. Try it out on a piece of foil first and fine tune the color.
1/35 military-kit precision in 1/24 auto-scale - say it ain't so, Joe!?! Def cool - and worthy of picking up vintage figures for... Already subbed, so just waitin on your finishin video ;)
I just saw a Barbetos Rex video and he was testing chrome and metal spay paints. Krylon has a foil line of spray cans that seem to have a nice look for brass. Has to say foil on the can. He decanted some into his airbrush.
That actually looks like more realistic brass for the time period. And for around the script on the grill you might consider using a pin to get in between the lettering, for the black.
You can have it in any color you want as long as it black - Henry Ford I seen hpiguy build up this kit. An he does sub-assemblies for all the kits he builds.
Great video Matthew. Have a few of the ICM model T kits and need to work one into the group builds. Doesn’t Alclad make a polished brass that looks like their chrome?
The strategy of a car kit, paint or glue or glue or paint or sub assemble or glue or paint or paint then assemble the whole thing or etc...............coffee time !
I was gonna say that sounds like an armor kit😂, have you tried gold bare metal foil? It may work for maybe the grill shell of the model T but prolly not the lights
I really love the quality of these ICM models - they're very well detailed. And this one is a particularly nice subject.

Thanks for sharing. Donnie
Barbatos Rex does a lot of paint reviews and he is always searching for the perfect chrome and gold paints. Very cool channel.
That will look great when finished!

Looking awesome Matt!!! Waiting for the follow up videos on this build. Thanks for all of your tips for this kit.

thanks for the video and info
Looks like a nice kit of an antique car. Love that round windshield😊
all your models look good. thanks to this video I just ordered this kit along with the fire truck
Great kit Matt
You is good Matthew. You got it 😊😊😊😊
Alclad does have polished brass. Barborus Rex just did a video on it and it is beautiful!
Looks like a great kit I may get one.

Great tip!
Please show the finnished kit it looks so great.
Looking good so far. I've got two ICM kits on order from the local hobby shop. Both WWII Mercedes staff cars.
Nice!
Absolutely impressive build so far Matt! I love how the brass radiator and other components came out! Can't wait for the finished product!
Told you, you would love it.

Alclad Polished Brass - ALC109 over their Gloss Black base looks really good👍
👍🏻👍🏻

Looks like a pretty sweet kit, Matthew 👍 I really look forward to seeing more progress. I do love these old brass era buggies for sure 😎
Thanks 👍
I think that dark red would have looked cool too.

Hi Mathew I have found that AK metal gold works very nice as polished brass. this is what I use on my cars of that era.
👍🏻👍🏻
I hope you do the spokes in natural wood you are the wood paining master IMO.
That's turning out quite well. The radiator is superb. The way you pronounce "cement" sounds like Jed Clampett.
👍🏻👍🏻
Ammo of Mig has a really nice brass in their acrylic metallic line.
Looking awesome Matt, can you show us how you do your woodgrain?
ICM makes great aircraft kits nowadays. Back in the day, ICM made short run kits that looked like they were whittled by hand.
I just saw a Barbetos Rex video and he was testing chrome and metal spay paints.

I believe model master had a brass metalized for airbrush it's not made any more but maybe someone you know might have some in there paint stash
Have you ever tried polishing the brass?
I have not

Nice 😅

Waht happen if you put yellow/orange clearcoat on your good chrome paint. Or your brash in clearcoat over your chrome paint. Just a try.
🤔
Have you tried taping aluminum foil to cover large areas like that. I have always had good luck with it.
Great idea!
that car still screams street rod to me !!!
Lol
I'd contact Barbatos Rex (youtube) for his advice on brass paints. He's tried everything.
I was gonna say that sounds like an armor kit😂, have you tried gold bare metal foil? It may work for maybe the grill shell of the model T but prolly not the lights
👍🏻
instead of taping the body how about using a plasic bag like a sandwich bag, then taping is minimal from there
👍🏻👍🏻
I don't even use Ace tape on my house painting jobs. Too sticky .
For sure!
If you are going to be a Online content thread you should get a better camera, mounting for said camera and way better lights.
Thank you for that amazing advice!! 👍🏻👍🏻
