Thank for sharing the planting and drying tips. I'm new to your channel would you please show an example of how you've used the flower in a dried arrangement, would love to see that in a future video, thank you!
I grew those from seed this year, they won’t bloom until next year 😭 I did plant Sweet William last year (biennial so also didn’t bloom last year) they are in the same family as carnations were the 1st to open and have been blooming for months‼️‼️ In addition to your carnations try those 😁
Hi thanks for video. Have you ever had an issue with the top of the stems getting some kind of black goo on them? Mine were fall planted and now it’s 5/8 and I’m seeing this on some stems. No blooms yet.
Hey Danielle, I know you’re a busy woman, but if you have a chance, I was wondering if you’ve ever stored larkspur in the fridge to arrange with days later? I’m needing to save some for Mother’s Day, but I noticed a couple of them wilting in the jar in the fridge. I don’t know if I should just let the rest of the larkspur bloom out on the plant and cut it on Saturday, or cut it at the right stage now and try to save it in the fridge, eek!
Thank you so much for this! I live in zone 6. Any tips how to start them in the fridge? Also I'm in zone 6 could I start them in the fridge this week and plant them directly in the ground in mid/late April? Thank you again!!
I’ve winter seen my larkspur and it’s ready to plant so do I just pop them in the ground since they’ve been outside all winter? Not fussy to transplant to soil?
Hi...fairly new gardener here 🙋🏼♀️ slowly graduating from the easy zinnias, marigolds, cosmos to other flowers. I have successfully grown Larkspur from seed and this is the 2nd year they came back. My question is....how far down are you cutting those stems⁉️ I’ve only cut down to the next large stem but they end up being only used in small vases. You look like you’re cutting all the way to the mother stem (⁉️) and cutting off all those budding branches. Do they grow back and continue to bloom⁉️
Hi Danielle!! I’m in zone 5 . I’m having issues growing Larkspur even tho it’s supposed to be easy?!! I’ve had it in my cellar in the cool dark conditions for over 3 weeks and no germination. New seeds too! Any suggestions what I’m doing wrong? Plz help!!
Thank you so much for your positive, informative videos!! Could you please tell us if you mulch over your baby Larkspur plants for the winter? Thanks again & Blessings to you!
I’m in Ontario Canada zone 6b and I’d like to try sowing delphinium seeds this fall. My first frost date is Nov 1-10. So I’ll plant 6-8 weeks before. Could you put out a video on how you sow the seeds and a follow up on how they look in spring? I have no experience with delphinium, which is why I’m asking
Hey Danielle, I have read that Larkspur (all parts of it) are toxic to humans and animals. How do you keep yourself and your doggo/kitties safe around this plant
I read that Larkspur is toxic and an irritant if touched, so I was puzzled to see a "how to harvest" video. I came here expecting to see measures to avoid touching it. Danielle, is larkspur toxic?
Larkspur is only bad if ingested I grow and harvest mine and strip them without gloves and don’t have any irritations. She doesn’t have to keep her self safe from it cuz she’s not eating it. I have dogs and cats on our farm and they don’t show any interest in chewing on it either. Really our animals haven’t chewed on any of our flower crops.
Are these good to be grown in the front flower beds as the last row plants? Or do they look better open fields and big backyard gardens? My flower bed is right outside my porch and not very big. There is no wall adjacent to it, it's kinda stand alone..
Do you know if the perennial delphiniums dry as well? The spikes are bigger and more loose... Also do you keep cuttings in a water bucket for a while before hanging them to dry?
Thank you! I am hoping to grow a lot of gorgeous flowers this year. I didn't know to plant my larkspurs in the fall, so I will plant half of the seeds now and keep the other half for the fall. Do you grow delphiniums? Those are a sentimental flower for me, but I am a bit intimidated by them.
Hi there! I have grown delphinium as an annual, but I've never been able to get them to stick around as perennials. I've heard it depends alot on your area.
I am am watching this in late august and found your info very helpful. I live in zone 5b. Do you know if larkspur is a hardy annual in this zone? If not, when would I sow it in early spring? Thank you.
Hello! I'm in zone 6b. Larkspur is winter hardy to zone 6. I would still try a fall sowing in zone 5. I'm often able to get things listed as zone 7 winter hardy to overwinter here in 6b. If not, I would plant it in very early spring - 6 weeks before the last frost. The book "Cool Flowers" is a great resource for growing hardy annuals.
@@elliottmcfadden6261 I really wish all gardening channels would first display the botanical name and then follow it up with the common name of their choice. It's so confusing to do otherwise, IMO.

Hmm. I thought Larkspur was the common name for Delphinium. Learned something new. Thanks.
