      I looked up PETA on the internet and they still exist, so I have to say that they weren’t “destroyed”. While I am not a member nor have ever been a member of PETA, and don’t agree with everything they do or stand for, why do they bother you so much? Is it because they are mostly women and most male comics seem to hate women, for what I’m sure are really petty reasons.

    This video reminded me of something! Patrice was a reader and very much liked the Art of War. How he opened on this crowd was a brilliant demonstration of that. A subtle probing attack followed by this absolute javelin through the heart.

  • @tacticalmattfoley

    Patrice was legendary on Tough Crowd with Collin Quinn. That show was criminally underrated....

    • @88_TROUBLE_88
      @88_TROUBLE_88 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Alot of the greats of comedy cut their teeth on that show before they gained the level of noteriety they found through repeated exposures on O&A.. That show was actually a visual manifestation of the now legendary "Comedians' Table" at the Comedy Cellar in New York, they all have mentioned with the highest reverence, like a mythical fabled hidden room that only the most hardcore comedians were allowed to enter because of the extreme hazing of each other and just brutal destruction of each others' insecurities and personal hangups that they tried to hide from the world.. It was a room dedicated to the exposure of those tender spots every human builds walls around to protect, but that little space was the spot where they relentlessly seek out that Achilles heel in their peers in order to place it under a microscope and experimentally kit it with every weapon available in order to take an already weak link in the armor and tear it to shreds for their own masochistic amusement.. Apparently, Patrice O'Neal was the fuckin KING of that table and as such, perpetually wearing a huge target on his back from his underlings, so to speak.. He talks about it in great length in one of his shows and also during reunions of the Tough Crowd show during several Opie and Anthony broadcasts..

    The way Bill talks about Patrice is so heartbreaking man. I remember on his podcast one time he talked about how he's always reminded of Patrice whenever he sees something or has a conversation that he knows Patrice would have picked apart and made fun of better than anyone could today. When he sees annoying articles, dumb news segments, cancel culture, anything. It's so depressing to consider living like that.

    He saw a shot and he didn't hesitate. THAT is what legitimate comedians do. That's just the vibe, the job, the situation. Especially for live, semi off-the-cuff events. Otherwise, you're writing, editing, working, tweaking things, tryin' stuff out on your pals, askin' what works, etc. UNLESS you're Mel Brooks. In that case, you just go live with zero input (no joke). 😂

    Bill talking about debating Patrice.. I remember listening to plenty of debates Patrice would get into on the radio with various people (Bill included) and it was never quick. Patrice did not repeat someone else’s talking points, he never threw out vague arguments. You might not have agreed with his position on something, but he would make enough one or more valid points that you’d come away understanding his why. On stage as well as other times on the radio, he was vulgar and liked to cut up. He’d lay into anybody for whatever vulnerability he could exploit, so it was easy to think that he wasn’t smart enough, that he likely couldn’t hold his own in a debate.
    But the truth was, if you wanted to argue with Pattice O’Neal then you better come correct and know what you were talking about, otherwise he’d destroy you. He was fun to listen to.

    Finding great mentors is very difficult. Perhaps we only get a few during our lifetime.
    We will always get good people that show up and teach us something but to have a person that’s there for a few years is very rare and maybe even limited to a few per person. 🤷‍♂️
    I’ve been noticing lately that there’s getting a bit of negative put out towards Bill cause he’s been “busting peoples balls”, such as Theo and such. But I see those videos as Bill noticing (this guy doesn’t want to be challenged, he’s happy just saying where he’s at) which isn’t a horrible if a person wants to stay where they are, but if you know there’s more rewarding challenges ahead but the person only wants to stay still, it’s boring to talk to them. It’s disheartening because you can see how happy they are for what they have achieved but you also know that one can only enjoy that spot for so long before life catches up to you.
    So in my opinion I think Bill really wants to help people move forward in their lives but is just getting bored with the lack of push and pull of growth.

    I love when phony people get trolled & lose their shit …..it’s very entertaining to watch these assholes react to not getting their way or things not going the way they hoped….the world could use Patrice right now for sure but hey….we’ve still got Bill 👍🙏🏼

    Having comedians at a PETA benefit makes about as much sense at bringing a laser light show to a college for the blind.

    I wonder if this is what made Bill attack philly. He saw that when a crowd is shit, rather than cater to them you insult them because if they're gonna give you a hard time, you might as well give them a hard time so everyone feels like shit and you come out winning because you got paid, they didn't.

    Maybe the crowd was really horrible but it always feels weird hearing a comedian blaming the audience for their bombing. Like it’s your job to engage them. The piano sounds funny as hell though
