Times haven't hit certain ppl yet. I've always lived on the edge. I had breast cancer twenty years ago hard to believe but ever since I've walked on the edge. Couldn't seem to come back. @@hellooutthere8956 You are a very rich person Sharon. If you have God you are not alone. So many don't know Him and I believe that's why there is so much hatred and strife in the world today. God bless you!!
G'day Sharon! I'm from South Eastern Australia. I wanted to say hi I'm so glad we have TH-cam and the internet to chat to others around the world and build up each other's faith and encourage each other to stick close to God. Even before the pandemic I was a homebody and because of chronic pain and other health challenges I hibernate every winter. I only go out to go to doctors, shopping or errands so I spend many hours doing crafts or reading or jigsaw puzzles to keep my brain working. Blessings, Dot

Times like these kinda remind me of what my grandmother told me about the depression… Prices so high… Food scarce… everybody ate out of their garden because they couldn’t afford anything else. I pray that God will guide us out of this black hole and we can be smarter and a more Godly and righteous nation on the other side of all this! Prayers and blessings 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you for being salt and light in this darkening world! My mom went through depression and taught me a lot about frugal meals. She wouldn’t waste one crumb. She didn’t make many casseroles but we ate goulash a lot which was our clean out the refrigerator meal 😂
Thank you so much for having my good savior in this program I love your program from the heart I love to hear about God he he is worthy of our praise. Your meals are wonderful iv tried some and they were delicious again thank you and God bless you
Historically many of the food we think of as “comfort” food was really just good, nutritious, and inexpensive. This is the food that got us through the Great Depression and the rationing of WWII. Macaroni and cheese, Ham casserole, Tuna noodle casserole and many others. Becky often calls it Struggle food. This is the stuff that fed our parents and grandparents as they grew up. We have made it through before, we can do it again. God bless everyone. Thanks Becky for the wisdom and love sprinkled through each of your videos.
Becky , I had told my wife many times watching your videos that your cooking reminded me of my grandmothers cooking . We ordered your cookbook and lo and behold you grew up on Gum Log . I grew up on Crane Creek just a few miles away . I have been to Many Forks Church many times. It was my grandmothers home church . Your channel has always been a blessing and we will continue to “tune “ in. God Bless you and your family .
I know you have a ton of fans that keep thanking you for your videos. But, I truly appreciate all you do. I was looking for depression recipes when I came across your videos . I love them all. I am not a practicing Chritian but I even enjoy your Bible quotes. You are not judgemental, you just encourage people to be kind. And the recipes are fabulous. My MO. Grew up during the depression and I learned to cook from her and my Nana.
I try to keep celery seed to add to potato salad, egg salad and casseroles when I don't have fresh celery. Thank you so much young lady for your videos, I’m sorry for the loss of your husband, I lost my wife two years ago and even tho we always loved to share our cooking and things around the house, I’m learning a lot from you and every video helps. God bless you and keep you strong.
I used to work at a pizzeria and they al dente cooked their pasta ahead, portioned it into ziplock bags and froze it. Daily, sauce was simmering in a pot on the stove. Every order of spaghetti noodles was microwaved from frozen, ready in 2 minutes, a ladle of sauce over and quick as that. Perfect every time.
That looks so good. I pray every day that things will change and get better. Being on SS it’s getting hard to pay bills and gas and then try a shop for groceries. I know God will walk us through this. Thanks for sharing I love watching your channel. 🥰
Oh Miss Diana, I'm not on SS but our family recently went through a job loss and the new job has pretty much cut our income in half. Yes paying bills is a struggle, but I've learned to look for deals. I plan my trips according to how much gas I have or may use. I've learned that dollar general has some good deals, you can buy something for a dollar and get a$5 off a $25 purchase for Saturdays. They still have those (Dak?) canned hams for $3! If you have an Aldi near you you can find deals there too. I was able to find cream of chicken/mushroom soup for .58/can. Some of their spices are still .99. A 5# bag of flour is $1.56! Sugar about the same. Don't know if you can or garden but we do. I've learned to let nothing go to waste. I freeze my carrot, onion and celery scraps to flavor a broth for soup. I just re-use the freezer bags since I'm putting the same things in there. Been freezing chicken bones and fat for the same reason. Planning on making my own lard out of pork fat too. The Lord does provide, we just need to listen. Many blessings to you. Hope my experience helps you to think outside the box.💞

I wanted to show your saying, do it what you have. Remember, I am Male, 78, cooked and baked a lot as a teen, done little until Wuhan virus. I started with a pound sausage, browned, took out about 2/3 for later meals. That works for me, maybe nobody else. Browned it, no milk, I don't like the taste of canned, got out a qt pack of dry milk, didn't have a jar, used a 54oz square lock top container, new thing for me, shaking in a larger container mixes it better. Missed the butter. Put elbows on to cook. Put in fluor and browned it with the meat. Wanted broccoli and cauliflower, have but frozen too large florets, microwaved a partial peas and carrots bag that would soon be in freezer too long. Got the cream sauce and meat ready, put in mac and vegs. Have shredded cheese but have a partial pack of Aldis cheese melt that is aging, I put that in and did Steve top. Looks like 8 to 9 meals. My wife passed away, I live alone. I eat one now, two in microwave bowls in the refrigerator, the rest in bags in the freezer, I use cheap sandwich bags, put them in a good gallon bag and label with a sharpie. I am learning tricks from you, some from my sister, and some that I make up. Thank you. God bless.
Becky, I love your channel. I've watched many, many of your videos going back years. You are one of the few people on TH-cam with good, old-fashioned common sense. Thank you for doing what you do!

You cook exactly how I cook and was taught by my mother & grand mother who survived the depression & WW11. The simpler the receipt often provides the best flavor & the best nutrition vs calories. Tks for all you provide to the novice and many experienced home cooks.
My mother had to feed 8 children and a hubby so I learned a lot from her how to stretch food. She used to think pinto beans (slow cooked with a ham hock) and buttered bread was comfort food! I have often wondered about people who say no one cooks in their home-what do they eat? Thanks Becky for another great meal idea-keep 'em comin. My daughter lives in Tullahoma Tn and I appreciate those down home southerners. So friendly!
It’s definitely a time where we need to be shopping wisely. We’re living in perilous times. I never thought I’d see this in America, “the land of the plenty”. God help us! Thank you for showing us budget friendly meals. God bless you Becky.
These economical recipes are wonderful and your instructions make them so doable for all families!! Thank you also for sharing the scriptures.... spiritual food and physical food, a perfect combination! God-bless you!❤️🙏❤️
Thank you Becky for your reading of The Word today. It was like God was speaking to me through you. It has been on my heart to be His light through my example at my job. You are a blessing to all who watch your videos. I look forward to meeting you in Heaven.
Thanks, Becky, for suggesting options for the recipe, both for ingredients as well as for cooking the casserole. Quick and inexpensive dishes are particularly welcome for many households right now. And helping people to have the confidence to put together a meal with what they have available using only a basic guideline provides a valuable skill.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge of cooking, specially how to stretch the budget. With the state of our economy, supplies being low and now that I am retired, your videos are so helpful. May the Lord bless you for blessing others.
I very much appreciate you and your recipes, thanks for sharing your life experience cooking. Edit: I think "they" are either trying to starve us to death, or make food so expensive it will still be the same outcome. Lord help us.
You nailed it sadly... BOTH ! God have mercy if America and we it's citizens are to survive. But the rich doing this crap to us DON'T CARE !!! I just keep praying and looking to Lord.
Really enjoyed this video. Very educational. May God continue to bless you especially for praising Him. EVERYONE needs to be reminded of why we need God!
Becky, you’re wonderful! Thank you for sharing your cooking help during these trying times but, more importantly, sharing God’s living word. God bless you and your family. ❤️
I just love you and can’t wait to meet you soon in the rapture! I am going to get your cookbook too, next pay check! What a wonderful witness of Jesus you are Sister! I love Jesus with all my heart! Your light is very warm and bright! Thank you! 🌻
Thank You Becky for reminders of past meals...It has fed my family when they were growing up in many different variations..GOD BLESS YOU!!❤ I Pray My light will shine brightly, through hard times and health issues...
Becky, you're an awesome lady. Thank you for sharing your recipes and encouraging us in The Lord. You've given me so many ideas now and just watching you today has encouraged me in the Lord, which I really needed. I also want to encourage you as well. Be blessed special lady. 🙏
You mentioned crumbling crackers on top. I remember back in the 70's, making tuna casseroles. I would crumble up potato chips and put them on top, they gave it a nice crunch too. Thanks for reminding me about casseroles. For people who have instant pots, I've made mac and cheese in one and put broccoli in it. Can cook the whole thing in just a few minutes.
Wow, your prices are way cheaper than what they are here where I live in Oregon. I love how you give so many different alternative ingredients. Thank you for the wonderful service you do to help people. 😀
God bless you for these videos on how to provide quick, inexpensive and filling meals to our families. Times were hard when I was growing up and I watched Mom fix a filling meal from almost nothing. I learned so much from her. I'm grateful for your videos giving me new recipes that I'll be adding to the ones Mom taught me. God will indeed get all of us through this.
It was fun to watch you making a casserole while I was eating shepherd's pie made from my left over chuck roast. Casseroles are so good and easy. You could make one every day of the week and never repeat yourself.
Becky, thank you so much for sharing your Christian witness. I'm sure you are making a difference in many people's lives. It is wonderful to hear the Good News instead of all the clamor of the world around us. May God richly bless you.
I love your recipes and how you show how easy it is to make a tasty and affordable meal. Even for someone who doesn't like to cook, you motivate me to learn. And I'm sharing this with a friend who has little money for food!
I have to say, I have gone through a lot of videos and cooks. You are my favorite as I have 9 boys, and we cook very similar. I know all you're doing, but I love to see someone else cooking like me, and giving me some ideas, keep it going.
I enjoy watching your videos. I appreciate you giving us recipes to use what we have. The price of gas and food is outrageous and unacceptable while the U. S is giving away everything we have. Thank you .
I love the tips you give on how to adapt things as you go through the recipe. I’m looking forward to your videos for the “newbie cooks” myself. We can all learn new and helpful ideas. Thank you. 👩🍳
You know you are helping me so much with feeding my family God bless you I love watching your videos and praying with you and you are such a beautiful person and a blessing I live in Denver Colorado and food and gas is going so high God will take care of as he always has 🙏 praise be to God ! 😀🙏
Everything you said, especially from 13.48 onwards made me feel so peaceful and hopeful. Food prices are through the roof here, but old fashioned wisdom WILL get us through. I made a cheesy casserole tonight with leftover bits of roast chicken legs (one kind of meat that is still affordable here) from the weekend, macaroni, spinach and green onions from the garden, and frozen corn. I will learn how to make your bread, so that I can save on that too. Bless you for what you do!
I always prefer to make my cream gravy with a can of evaporated milk (like my Mom did) then add water as needed. It gives the gravy a very unique flavor that I prefer over regular milk. I think fried spam could also be a substitute in this dish.
Thank you so much for this recipe. I'm sure one of my boys will not touch this, but I forsee with them growing, they'll dip into this. Your message and verse at tbe end is so comforting and positive. I just love stopping in and watching The Hillbilly Kitchen. I share your videos when I know a neighbor or family member will be helped by your meal💗 or your message
Thanks for teaching all the things I learned from a mother that lived through the depression in a large family. I want my grandchildren to know this too
I love you good old common sense approach to cooking, so much like my momma always did. With 7 kids and more times than not unexpected company to feed she could feed em all. Believe me no one left the table wanting and my momma was known for being a great cook. Seems like a little flour, salt, just couple of ingredients transformed into awesomeness for Pennie’s. Back to your videos, they are great source of ideals, memories, common sense and spiritually uplifting.
You have no idea how helpful your channel has been especially in these trying times. Many of your recepies were things that I had forgotten. My family and I really apperciate what you are doing. We made the ham casserole last night I had some frozen left over ham and it was a hit. A perfect thumbs up dinner from both my girls and my husband. I look foreward for more of your content and when I get the chance I will be getting your cook book. It needs to be a staple in my house. God bless you and your family We will keep everyone in our prayers.
It was Monday for us... usually fried potatoes, green bell peppers, onions and cut up hot dogs --- Monday night special my mom called it! Those were the days!
I made a broccoli and cauliflower casserole with some left over chicken and rice that I had made in the crock pot then added cheese and crackers it was perfect for my husband and me to eat needless to say it was gone in one night. Made 1.5 quart casserole neither one of us had eaten …thank you for all the tips you provide it will come in handy as gas prices go up
Becky you are the perfect guide to navigate the people in charge of feeding the people!!! I’m all ears and eyes. We can and will get through these times! Glory to God!

Your reminder to share with others during hard times is such a loving sacrifice that I know God richly blesses you for!
God bless you!! So many people have no idea of what the times ahead will bring.
*Matthew 24*
When I cook something, more often than not, you eat what you get.
And your message with the Biscuits and gravy analogy inspiring.
Thank you for what you are doing. Feeding our hearts and showing us how to feed our families.
Thank you, Becky, for giving to the Lord. You and your channel are an inspiration. Thank you for sharing
Both of my Grandma's and Mama are gone. Bless you for showing us real Country cooking. I've learned so much from you.
@@puddinfife yes pudding, that was the last part of my sentence. Agree with you.
“They” can try, but God WILL take care of His people. To God be the glory!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@terismith526, AMEN 🙏
You nailed it sadly... BOTH ! God have mercy if America and we it's citizens are to survive. But the rich doing this crap to us DON'T CARE !!! I just keep praying and looking to Lord.

Really enjoyed this video. Very educational. May God continue to bless you especially for praising Him. EVERYONE needs to be reminded of why we need God!
This is so beautiful! You are such a blessed lady!
Becky, you’re wonderful! Thank you for sharing your cooking help during these trying times but, more importantly, sharing God’s living word. God bless you and your family. ❤️

Amen, when I returned to the Lord my life has changed for the better. Thank you
I was raised on suppers like this back in the late 50's and early 60's and I thought that it was some good stuff
Hi Becky and Bless you for demonstrating your Faith in the things of everyday life . Such a blessing to all of us....Michigan
Ma’am, I needed to hear this scripture and your message today. Thank you so much for the encouragement! God bless you and yours. 💖💖💖
It was fun to watch you making a casserole while I was eating shepherd's pie made from my left over chuck roast. Casseroles are so good and easy. You could make one every day of the week and never repeat yourself.
I love seeing your videos pop up! We're still keeping y'all in our prayers. Hugs 🤗🙏 and God bless 🙏
AMEN , SISTER IN CHRIST, TELL THE TRUTH OF GODS WORD , WISDOM !!!WITH SOME GREAT COOKING !!!
Money is hard to come by.
Thank you. I just love your channel and you. The way you share scripture and your faith and showing us some delicious looking meals.
I have to say, I have gone through a lot of videos and cooks. You are my favorite as I have 9 boys, and we cook very similar. I know all you're doing, but I love to see someone else cooking like me, and giving me some ideas, keep it going.
Flour and milk make gravy! Love this woman!
We
Love these casseroles and love you, Becky. Hope you're doing well.❤🙏🏼
Becky awesome cooking thanks for sharing and God’s blessings for you and all your family and thanks for making God first in your life
Thank you Becky for helping everyone your so thoughtful. I miss your hair being red , I love your red hair . Lord bless you always
As a cooking dad I'm always looking for quick & cheap meals, thank you for you help! 😘
Becky this looks wonderful, thank you! I love the way you shine the light of Jesus sharing Scriptures and so much hope! God bless you! 🙏❤️🙌
You are the best presenter on you tube. The versatility of this casserole you tell us is wonderful and welcome!
I always prefer to make my cream gravy with a can of evaporated milk (like my Mom did) then add water as needed. It gives the gravy a very unique flavor that I prefer over regular milk. I think fried spam could also be a substitute in this dish.
Amen! Thank You for being a light to our world! God Bless You Always!!! Love Your sister in Christ, Rhondda ❤️🙏🙂
I want my grandchildren to know this too
Thank you for being there and helping every one through this time.
Thank You Becky for simple, brilliant casserole tips❣️
You have no idea how helpful your channel has been especially in these trying times. Many of your recepies were things that I had forgotten. My family and I really apperciate what you are doing. We made the ham casserole last night I had some frozen left over ham and it was a hit. A perfect thumbs up dinner from both my girls and my husband. I look foreward for more of your content and when I get the chance I will be getting your cook book. It needs to be a staple in my house. God bless you and your family We will keep everyone in our prayers.
Becky, you are such an inspiration. I just wanted to tell you how much I love watching your videos. God bless you! 😇
You always have such great practical ideas, thank you and God Bless🙏❤️
I love your videos. I'm not that great of a cook. Your step by step instructions really help me. Thank you so much.
I will try this casserole 🤗 God is good and merciful Peace to you Becky in Jesus name Amen.
Tuna noodle casserole was and is a favorite!
When I was growing up, Thursday was refrigerator clean out day. Almost always a casserole on Thursday night
It was Monday for us... usually fried potatoes, green bell peppers, onions and cut up hot dogs --- Monday night special my mom called it! Those were the days!
God woman, you are a treasure!
(I hope someone on your crew got A's in English.)
You are so on track. 🌻💐

Thank you Becky, you have always put up some delicious recipes. I love your recipes and your Bible verses. Have a blessed night and God Bless 🙌.
Thank you for this recipe and for all the good words for people to gain faith in God and that we will get through these bad times.
💫 Blessings, Becky. 🌹🌹🌹 Roses to Jesus... 🙌🏼 I appreciate your channel. 🤗 Shalom, prayer hugs to all. 💖 😊
