I can't tell you how much your videos mean to me. My husband was diagnosed with dementia a year ago. No one can tell you exactly how hard it will be on you to keep them at home but we've been together 40 years and there's no way I can put him in a home, so I find myself turning to your videos for comfort not just for the cooking but for the verses you go over and the way you explain them., I can't even begin to explain to you how much it means to me I thank the Lord for being in my life and for also guiding me to you. Thank you again 💓 💖
God bless you Trisha. I know exactly how you’re feeling and what you’re going through. I’ve been in your shoes. My mother God bless her soul now was diagnosed with dementia as well and I cared for her all alone for 3 years without any offers of help from my siblings. I had many days I cried and prayed to God to help me and guide me and help me help her through this wicked illness she’s dealing with. I will keep you in my prayers and may God bless you and your family.
I'm not sure if you heard of chelation it helps get rid of toxins like metals in the brain maybe you can ask a doctor who practices that and also matcha prevents neurological diseases... just read about it too I'm new to this too Many blessings on your journey 🙏
I know how hard it is. I was a caregiver for my husband for about 26 yrs of our 36 yrs together. The last 4 months he had recieved a transplant and believe me it wasn't as easy as they may have you believe. At one point t the doctor wanted to put me in the hospital. I was completely exhausted.. I couldn't leave e him. I knew that God would carry me through. He's with Jesus now and I'm alone. Caregivers are special people. Their God's helpers. Wives that love their husband's and care for them in hard times are special earthly Angels of the Lord's. God bless you and your husband. 🙏🙏🙏💕 coming your way from Ky. I just now found her channel and I'll be watching more of her. There's a channel that has helped me get through my grief on days that its hard. You might want to try it out. It's called Tamaras Blue Chicken here on TH-cam. Her Website: tamarasbluechicken.com/. Go checkout Kiwi and his caregiver when you need loved on or a need a smile. They are from Canada. I hope you enjoy him. I know I do.
My heart goes out to you and those in the comments that are and have experienced this with a loved one. May the Lord guide and heal them completely, in Jesus name I pray. ❤
I'm a little over half a century old too. I ate that meala lot as a child. In summer time we had cucumber and tomato salad from the garden to go with it. Sometimes we had a can of pork'n beans with it. I never realized that we were poor; I had a loving home with loving parents that was warm, safe, and dry. And I never went to bed hungry. Amen!
There’s nothing better than fried potatoes onions no matter what meat you add. Thanks Becky for the great recipe. I was a single mother from the time my two babies were 20 months and 3 months old. We ate pork and beans with hot dogs many a night. Thank you for always giving us a Bible message and reminding us that Jesus is always with us. Blessings and prayers to you Becky I am asking for prayers for my 18 year old grandson Coleson who joined the U. S. Marines yesterday. Thank you so much. 🙏🙏🙏🐶
Keeping Coleson in thought and prayers. His Momma too! From Texas y'all! Let's get a prayer chain going for Coleson and his Momma! God bless Becky for all the good food she shows us how to fix for our families! God is in control! Read your Bibles and pray! He gives us his Holy Spirit to comfort those who belong to Him!
Praying right now for Coleson and his family. Lord Jesus, we thank you for this precious young man. We ask that you protect Him and give him strength and safe passage through all that is in his future. If he doesn't know you yet, we ask that you bring someone into his path to lead him to a relationship with you. We ask that you give his loved ones peace beyond our understanding and let them know that Coleson is in your hands no matter what. In Your precious name we pray. Amen.
I grew up pretty poor, so we ate like this all the time. As an adult, I've been lucky enough to be able to eat at amazing restaurants all over the country, but I am still as happy to sit down to a plate of this than anything else.
Amen! I travel a lot for work, and I have been able to eat in some world-class restaurants on a per diem. But, nothing fills my belly and my soul like this food. ❤
Sister Becky, that might be a poor man’s meal but at my house it’s a staple. We just use kielbasa instead of the hotdogs. We love it! It will feed a crowd and not bust your budget. Times are definitely getting hard now so we need to fix budget friendly meals. God bless you Becky.
Kielbasa is also what I use. To extend further add canbage!cabbage! As mentioned smaller pieces allows using less meat. I try to get 4 meals for 2 people out of a package of 2 kielbasa.
This is also really good with scrambled or fried eggs. In our Latino household, we used to have sliced hot dogs, diced potatoes, onions, drained leftover beans and scrambled eggs in the morning, often rolled up in tortillas. Still something I make for my family and it's so filling!
I'm sure it is delicious with eggs, but that costs more money.. Bacon would be good in it too- but that costs even more money... This is all about a very cheap meal- its not about a good recipe but ur recipe sounds delicioso :) (!)
Yeah potatoes and eggs go well together, secret is getting the potatoes nice and browned. You can also sort of mash potatoes up and fry them that way, the way i prefer it.
I grew up on my grandmother's farm and she cooked this, I have all her cookbooks and her recipes, all for cooking on a woodstove. I wouldn't say it's poor mans cooking, it's how we ate on the farm. I also have all my grandmother's cast Iron cookware. God Bless.
Really !!!! You need to put all of those pages together n make a cook book n sale it.... I would love for you to do a video with same of your grandma recipe
Grilled Cheese with tomato soup is a staple in my home too. Brought up on it, still eat it at 75. We eat potatoes and onion with a fried egg for breakfast all the time. My daughter makes the best breakfasts!
I'm old enough to remember Dad bringing home potatoes in 25 lb sacks. As a child I never saw them packaged any other way. I also recall that no one ever called meals like this 'poor man's food.' We just called it delicious. "Thanks Mom!"
Hello James ! Back in the 1960's we had a root cellar under the house where I grew up. There were sacks of potatoes, cabbage, carrots, swede, and onions in there. Plus shelves full of home made pickles, jam, and fruit syrup. My frugal mum was an exellent cook. She'd bake 4 large loafs of brown bread every other week. This, plus mostly frozen meat, vegetables, and fish, got us through the winter. (Wich can last for 8 months here...) Stay safe and well. Love from Norway 🇳🇴
@@ninaelsbethgustavsen2131 Another thing about living in the US now is that back then, produce didn't turn or go bad quite as easily as it does now. Hoping that isn't the case in Norway.
@@jamessheridan4306 Well, the supermarket vegetables are scrubbed clean, and mostly wrapped in plastic. As a chef I find this more than just a little annoying. So I shop from market stall holders, when ever I can. The plastic wrapped stuff prompts you to consume even potatoes within a few days. Or they start sprouting ! Buying in bulk from your local farmer however, is a different matter. The root vegetables, leeks, and potatoes still have their dirt on. Wich keeps them fresh for much longer. If stored in a cool and dark place.
Your recipes drew me in, but your messages and reassurances are what have made me a dedicated fan. This 74 yr old loves the uplifting commentary. Thank you.
I'm only 22 but I appreciate reading these comments and watching these videos. my grandparents grew up during the hard times of the great depression as well, and I love to hear their stories. They could tell them for days without repeating a thing.
Yall are great people. I need to visit my grandparents. They worry about me. I care about them deeply, but I get afraid of visiting because of a cousin that used to treat me bad, living in the same house. not exactly the same house, it's like 2 connected houses. I'm bad at confrontation, and it's really hard for me to build up the strength to man up and visit them anyways.
@@jamesmcmillian9890 .. ask God to give you the words of what to say to your grandparents.. try not to wait .. A I’ve heard that anyone over the age of 75 are living by the grace of God.. God bless you and you can do it !! 🙏🏽💫🌷😇
Thanks Becky. I grew up on sugared raw onion and toasted Wonderbread. Also fried baloney, hot dogs, rabbit, squirrel and catfish. My folks were shanty Irish dirt floor poor. I am ever grateful for my dear mother making creative food for 4 hungry kids. Made it to 83 so po-folks food never hurt anyone. You are blessed.
Thank you for this video. My wife and I are helping our daughter raise her four children. Any and all helps such as what you have given are a great inspiration and a boost to our limited budget. We are a Christian family, too. May the Lord richly bless you!
Lets vote Joe Biden out; he seems to be the end of our great country; he managed to create a 40 to 50% inflation in less than two years. Neither sleepy Joe or his team cares either!
@@edp3202 Using bacon fat if you have it makes a huge difference. My Mom always had a canister with a strainer on top to drain any grease to save from any bacon she cooked.
You are such a blessing. Feeding our souls, feeding our tummies, feeding our hearts and feeding our faith. Thank you for continuing to share your very special gifts. ❤🙏❤🙏
In the early 70s when I was newly married and poor, someone told me about this recipe and I started making it. We loved it! I still make it occasionally for myself still. Back in my poor days I used hotdogs in casseroles frequently as they were cheaper than any other meat. Maybe not the healthiest but if you are on a very tight budget filling empty stomachs overrides healthy at times!
When I was much poorer I learned that I did not need meat every day, although i preferred to have it.This exact dish twice per week kept me going, along with rice or noodle meals between times. Now that I'm retired and spoiled I still eat this every week or so just to enjoy the taste.
@ Cheri George Amen to that !! .. plus asking “God to Bless the food ..” is what we do in our family.. sometimes we cannot afford balanced meals with fresh fruit and vegetables 🥕💙🌱💫💎🕊🙏🏽
Cant burn it. Been eatin it all my 67 years. I would rather have this, the go someplace where dinner is $50.00 for three spoon fulls of food. You are the best cook. The best person on youtube.
God bless you. I am a professional chef, have been for 40+ years and I enjoy your videos your faith and you stories about your experiences and your common sense advise to those that need a little more confidence in the kitchen
Amen! I recently found your channel and I love how encouraging it is and God honoring it is. May the lord bless you abundantly. I know as a younger mom in her 30s with younger kids it is such a blessing to see more seasoned women training us younger ones how to cook and clean and get through hard times and take care of our families and love Jesus. 🙏🏼
Becky, thank you not only for another great recipe but for the encouragement and scripture. I sat and cried listening to you and felt ashamed for being so sad. You’re right we need to show others that Jesus has already overcome the world and it will be alright.
Thanks for sharing this recipe! Made this all my life, one of my comfort foods, but use kielbasa (smoked sausage) which costs about as much as hot dogs and tastes 10 times better. Usually I put the potatoes whole in the microwave, take them out when they're done (4-8 min depending on size) chop them up and fry everything together. I fry it in oil and add a little butter at the end for extra flavor, along with salt and pepper. Delicious, filling and doesn't feel "poor" at all!
I love your channel and your content. I also want to thank you for your words of comfort. 14:40 was when I broke into tears. These are some crazy and turbulent times we are living in... a lot of us are breaking down. I didn't realize how badly our current events had been effecting me until you said "It's going to be ok.... We're going to get through this, don't worry about it.." Thank you for that. I can't explain it, when you said that, I felt an overwhelming sense of hope. That was something I really needed today, something we ALL need right now. Bless you, thank you for being here. I get a lot of comfort from your videos. Greetings from British Columbia, Canada.
@@kathyb5740 Kathy that is beautiful! Thank you so much for your kind words, and I wish the very best for you and yours! God bless you, you are one of the true Angels!
I declare, Becky, when you lifted the lid off your skillet, I could smell the onions, potatoes and the hotdogs!😋 This dish really brings back some sweet memories of Mom's meals in our Alabama kitchen when I was a kid back in the '60's!❤ As always, bless you for sharing your time and hospitality, your good food, and most importantly, the words of our Lord with us.💝✝️
Becky, I made this for my family in the sixties! I thought I made it up! I also put some sliced carrots in it. This is a good meal!! It's also good with sliced kielbasa instead of hot dogs. Thank you for your ministry, Becky! You are a light in a dark world. Love from Florida 🙏🏼❤️🕊

Definitely do more of these quick cheap recipes. I’m so grateful for you & your words of comfort Becky. You’re correct, we need to be at peace because no matter what, God is with us.
LOVE the budget dinners. Keep them coming!! This day and age we need to learn to cook like our grandma's did :) Would love to make old fashioned baked beans which would be good with hot dogs. I've only ever opened up a can of those!!!
My Mama's "secret sauce" for baked beans always gets complements. It's mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire and pancake syrup. No measurements but you use more of the mustard and syrup than any of the others. Add that to canned pork and beans along with onions and green peppers and top with either bacon or hotdogs. If you have time bake for 2.5 hours, adding the meat for the last 45 mins. So good.
I ate this so many times as a kid growing up I thought I would never eat hotdogs and potatoes again. I watched this video one time, and I’ve already got it cooking on the stove. Wonderful video and a super nice and down to earth gal!
My mama made this when I was a little girl. I always got excited when I sat down at the table and this was our meal. Thank you for the recipe! Also, thank you for the scripture and sweet message. Needed to hear it.
Thank you Ma'am. Thank you for putting God and His word in with these videos along with these recipes. I discovered your channel a few months ago and have enjoyed watching every one that I have seen so far. Your videos are proof to me that God still lives in the heart of people that believe in Him. I pray for you and your family continued blessings on your channel and in life. And again thank you for being a blessing to me.
I love all your recipes because it reminds me of my childhood, but I love your witnessing through your channel even more. I find comfort in your reading of the scripture and reminding us all that, with God, we will be alright. THANK YOU!❤
The poor man's meal has been a strong presence for four generations now in my family. During the depression my dad would feed a family of 10 with 3 to 4 hot dogs and potatoes. When I was growing up, he made us the meal and we thought it was his original recipe and so good. He then shared with us the origins of it. I raised my children with the familiar poor Man's meal also. Now my grandson is familiar with the origins and the history of it in our family. Since he was very young, he was interested in recipes and cooking and we tried to have history through food. He has always researched recipes and made grocery list along with helping me cook. We visit many countries culture through food and last night we had a Scottish recipe. Around the world with food and through Time with the history of recipes. Thanks Becky for her bringing these recipes to light with the young people who have no idea how to stretch a dollar. In today's times, we need to teach children and grandchildren how to stretch those dollars!
Amen Sis...He HAS already overcome the world!! One can't truly live until he/she puts God 1st! Thank you for such a perfect teaching of this meal & bringing the Lord to the table! God bless you and yours mightily🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Love this type of meal Becky. Thank you. I didn't grow up with meals like this but when my best friend got sick and needed help, she taught me how to make all kinds of budget meals like this one as well as fresh green beans and potatoes, 15 bean soup and other recipes. Now I crave this kind of meal. I'd be eating like this even if I won the lottery. So I definitely want to see more recipes like this. My friend made eating fun again.
Learned of this meal from a 90-year-old woman who had a channel here on TH-cam called Depression Era Cooking. 'Edna' shared many stories, recipes, and useful ingredients gathered while growing up during the depression. I'll never forget the story she told about digging up dandelions for salad on the way home from her job at the Dolly Madison factory. Treasure your family now and forever ♾️
I love this meal. I also like to add eggs once the taters and hot dogs are almost done. So good. After working 70 hours a week I need simple meals. I just told my husband the other day that I love hot dogs on a bun with fried potatoes on them.
i agree. i used to LOVE to cook....two years ago, going to the store was madness..and i stopped enjoying it.....had food delivered from stores, etc. Now i focus on simple, nutritional meals at low cost. PLUS, It took a few months of pain, but I am pretty much full on OMAD (one meal a day) and the amount i could eat is now way too big! I guess training and age do this. Thanks for the recipe!
We need more Depression times recipes! It was always good wholesome food and all that is necessary to stay healthy. Cooking has gotten so complicated over the years that people have forgotten about these simple, wholesome, delicious meals. Thank you so much for reminding us and please don't stop sharing them.
I swear that is why bisquits and gravy were invented: to stretch meals with good taste. My mother's people had a very hard time during the depression. She picked cotton for 20cents a hundred weight and it took a long time to pick a hundred pounds of cotton. Grandpa had gotten his arm cut off in a lumber mill so he wasn't able to do much back then. My mother could cook more with less than anybody I ever knew. And it was so good. We need to teach this new generation about old times and how they managed to feed large families on next to nothing. A lot of grownups and kids today know nothing about managing when times get hard.
Thank you so much for that message. I have been letting myself get down recently because of everything you have said. I hope and pray that we can come together as a country and demand changes and eliminate these career politicians who line their pockets instead of tending to the needs of the country. You lifted up my spirits. God bless you
Awesome recipe! Brings back memories! My mom used a kielbasa, Hot Dogs, Ham, any meat that was left over! Nothing was ever thrown out! Thanks for this great reminder! God Bless!!
I love this meal, my mom use to make it for us when we were children in the 1990's - South Africa. We grew up dirt poor but happy. This is my comfort food!
This would be great, hope things aren't headed that way now but they might be. My go to lately is half lentils, half black-eyed peas, cooks in about an hour and you can add pretty much anything to it.
@ButMuhFeels Hurt Nice, I have really learned to appreciate carrots in things. Used to think they were just an extra veg but it really makes a difference, as much as the onion does.
This is a nice reminder of a meal I used to make. I also made pork and beans with hotdogs and onions cut up. Sometimes I would use a can of ranch style beans and a can of pork and beans, for a different flavor. I always made a it with 2 cans of beans, a whole package of hot dogs and an entire onion.
Oh my gosh.. I went and married a poor man that was richer than I. LOL. I would love some beans. Huge discussions happen regularly here over beans. Lol. Me.. momma, first day of camp, I'd like chili with beans. I miss them. Grandma uses her potato masher to break the beans to reduce gas btw. Genius. Acts as a thickener too.
Said it before, I'll say it again....you are an absolute treasure! Not only do your meals and the way you cook remind me of my Mama and Granny, when you give your wisdom if the Lord, it is always EXACTLY what I need to be reminded of. Thank you so much and God bless your precious, precious heart. Lots if love in Christ from SE Arizona tonight!

Hi Becky!!! I really liked your recipe for today. I could never make fried potatoes so I stopped trying years ago. Maybe I'll try it again using this recipe. Yes please show us more economical meals. GOD bless you. Great video!!!...
@@sylphofthewildwoods5518and Diane C, Put your whole potatoes in the Microwave for 4 minutes, turn them and hit three more minutes. Wait until you can hold them and peel the skin off, comes off easy. I hold them with an oven mitt and do them while they are hot. Cut the baked Potatoes in half and then in one quarter inch pieces. I use Olive Oil and some Butter to fry. Start with high heat for just a couple of minutes and then turn it back to medium heat. Just keep turning your potatoes until they are browned. Perfect fried ‘Taters every time.
A little tip for you... If you're frying potatoes in cast iron, use plenty of oil and let them develop a crust before you stir them. That will help keep them from breaking up/getting mushy. You've got this!

Growing up this was a family favorite! My mom learned how to make this from a friend. We thought is was a special dish. Now I make it for my family. It’s a tradition. This is a comfort food of mine! So easy. So simple. So delicious! 💕
You could also add a few eggs scrambled into the mixture. My mother back in the 40’s would make a dish like this that was called “Cowboy Son of a Gun” which was usually bacon rather than hot dogs and water was added to make a gravy from the potato starch. Sometimes there was no meat in the dish and then it was called “Cowboy Son of a Bitch” because of the lack of meat😀👍

I never thought of making hot dogs this way in all of my 66 yrs! I would like to see more of cheap meals that can be prepared. My mother. God rest her soul, grew up on a farm during the depression, and potatoes, pinto beans, and rice were basically their staples. They were poor, but they always had food to eat. Thank you for your encouraging words about the conditions of today and how not to be so worried about things. It is very heartwarming to hear you speak of our Lord. Thank you.
dad cooked this up for us now and then. you can also use one of the following in place of hot dogs: spam, mexican chorizo, any type of sausage, or any type of meat you prefer or have left over. ketchup, salsa, or any favorite herbs (fresh or dried) cilantro, oregano, parsley, basil, celery leaves, sage, or rosemary also make the the stir fry extra tasty.

Yes, cherish the time together. I did the same thing until my Dearest Mum passed in 2020. It wasn't easy, but I would do it again just to be with her. I remember trying to find the right foods for her sensitive palate. She was always a fantastic cook so it was difficult for her when it came to most dishes. If she were still here, in order to try this dish, it would have to be seasoned to perfection! Her spicy hot dog meal included pasta, tomato paste and fresh herbs! Still makes me smile! Glad to see that this poor man's meal has many diverse versions!
You are such a blessing Becky. In conversations with my local food bank I’ve been surprised at how little many people know about throwing together an inexpensive meal from scratch. They tend to see folks preferring the highly processed “boxed meals” because they don’t know how to put single ingredients together to make an inexpensive meal. But thanks to lovely souls like yours, that situation is changed. Thank you also for your ministry providing the real food of Life.
@@davidvaughn9 I don’t disagree, however, if you are starving, have limited income and a family to feed, unemployed on food stamps, etc. you absolutely would eat this instead of turning your nose up at it because it’s “processed”. Look up Clara and depression cooking. This nice lady is picking up where she left off.
@@davidvaughn9 No, I am not under any such misconception and personally never eat hot dogs, bologna and many other such processed meats. Unfortunately though, we currently live in a world where a large majority of people don’t know how to put together two or three simple and basic ingredients to make a meal. The only thing they know to do is open a box of Rice-A-Roni, hamburger helper or instant Mac-n-cheese . In donating basic single ingredients to my local food shelter, I was informed that many of those items might never be taken by those in need, because they wouldn’t have a clue what to do with them. Thanks to channels like this, folks are being blessed with both knowledge to feed their family and wisdom to live a fruitful life.
I made this more times than I can count when my kids were growing up. We all loved it. I just thought of it as quick, easy, cheap, filling and something everybody liked.

There’s nothing better than fried potatoes onions no matter what meat you add. Thanks Becky for the great recipe. I was a single mother from the time my two babies were 20 months and 3 months old. I am asking for prayers for my 18 year old grandson Coleson who joined the U. S. Marines yesterday. Thank you so much. 🙏🙏🙏🐶
Keeping Coleson in thought and prayers. His Momma too! From Texas y'all! Let's get a prayer chain going for Coleson and his Momma! May Coleson wear God's full armor of protection 🙏

Amen.

I appreciate this recipe and your Godly advice!
I grew up pretty poor, so we ate like this all the time. As an adult, I've been lucky enough to be able to eat at amazing restaurants all over the country, but I am still as happy to sit down to a plate of this than anything else.

Absolutely I'm fixing this today with smoke sausage, thank you Becky and God bless you
Amen! I travel a lot for work, and I have been able to eat in some world-class restaurants on a per diem. But, nothing fills my belly and my soul like this food. ❤
You can appreciate those beans and rice with sausage because It just taste so darn good .
Kilbasa or bratwurst is what I remember.
Smoked sausage was put in my grandmas dish.
Kielbasa is also what I use. To extend further add canbage!cabbage! As mentioned smaller pieces allows using less meat. I try to get 4 meals for 2 people out of a package of 2 kielbasa.
This is how we make it, with kielbasa, and it's one of our favorite meals!
Same here, Harriet. I use smoked sausage or kielbasa and serve it with sauerkraut and cornbread or johnny cakes. Makes me hungry thinking about it!
This is all about a very cheap meal- its not about a good recipe
but ur recipe sounds delicioso :) (!)
Oooooh I'm gonna have to try that!
@@vaekkriinhart4347 eggs don't cost more than hotdogs and are more nutritious.
bean and potato burritos are da bomb!
God Bless.

"Poor Man's Meal"?!!! My wife has had me believing it was her original gourmet concoction all these years!!! 😱😱😱

Our comfort food!
Grilled cheese and tomato soup is a fall/winter lunch staple in my house!!!! We absolutely love it!
Every Sunday night!!
(Wich can last for 8 months here...)
Stay safe and well.
Love from Norway 🇳🇴
@@ninaelsbethgustavsen2131 Another thing about living in the US now is that back then, produce didn't turn or go bad quite as easily as it does now. Hoping that isn't the case in Norway.

Well, the supermarket vegetables are scrubbed clean, and mostly wrapped in plastic.
The best chef is an empty stomach.
My friends mom used to make this…she called it “slumgulian”!

I have eaten this exact dish hundreds of times and variations of it. It’s fantastic! You dont feel poor when you are eating good.
@Austin Batton Lol imagine thinking your comment was witty.
Sometimes you can substitute affordable sausages in for hot dogs only because they're healthier. And dip that meal in some ketchup and mustard. OMG. 😋

Don't discount hot dogs- they have much needed protein!
Cheap protein? Eggs, that is all.
When I was much poorer I learned that I did not need meat every day, although i preferred to have it.This exact dish twice per week kept me going, along with rice or noodle meals between times.
Now that I'm retired and spoiled I still eat this every week or so just to enjoy the taste.

That's right! We have not been given a spirit of fear but of love and power and of a sound mind. (and no sadness! ;-)
My mom used leftover cooked great northern or pinto beans for her baked beans!! They were so good!!
So good.

That’s a wonderful family tradition. We need to remember these things.
Teach the boys how to cook and you raise men that can take care of themselves.
I cut the hot dogs in pork & beans & just fried the potatoes and onions !!

Put your whole potatoes in the Microwave for 4 minutes, turn them and hit three more minutes.

Thank you for this recipe Becky. I take care of my invalid mom and she's very finicky about eating. Her ears perked up when I told her about this recipe. It's come along and a much needed time in our lives, so thank you!
Kelli Franklin, Bless you for taking care of your mother. I did the same thing. I know how hard it is to be a caregiver. Give your mom a hug and enjoy the time you have with her. ❤
I'm feeling down today and your video tells me it will be okay. I so appreciate you Becky.
Please provide us with more of these poor man meals greatly appreciated
You are such a blessing Becky. In conversations with my local food bank I’ve been surprised at how little many people know about throwing together an inexpensive meal from scratch. They tend to see folks preferring the highly processed “boxed meals” because they don’t know how to put single ingredients together to make an inexpensive meal. But thanks to lovely souls like yours, that situation is changed. Thank you also for your ministry providing the real food of Life.
Are you under the impression that hot dogs aren't processed? One of the absolute worst things you can put inside yourself.
@@lmowner5722 Loved watching Miss Clara! I cried when she passed. Love her recipes!
I made this more times than I can count when my kids were growing up. We all loved it. I just thought of it as quick, easy, cheap, filling and something everybody liked. My children are all grown but, for some reason, I haven't made this in years. You've inspired me to cook it again. Bless you, Becky.
I love fried potatoes and polish sausages. So,so good. Thank you.
Keep the buget recipes coming!
I am also praying for our country. Thank you, again.
Yes do some more of these meals
In Swedish it's called 'Pytt i panna' or 'small pieces in a pan'. Put a fried egg, over-easy on top and you're living the good life.
I want to thank you for being a blessing in my wife and I life, most of my family from my mother's side of things are from the Appalachians ,you sound like one of my aunts and that kitchen is like my grandmas , I'm 60 now but sure miss all that, God bless you and your family
My Mom use to cook a pot of soup beans with a piece of jowl bacon, when the beans were done she would add a lb. of macaroni . I had no idea she was stretching the meal, I loved it. Matter of fact, it's really not much different than beans and dumplings.
My Mom made this too! We liked the second day beans and macaroni as well as just ham and beans.
I've fixed a meal like this before using smoked sausage and bell peppers. God bless you for all your doing to bring the word of God to your viewers
Becky i never thought I would see what's happening today in my lifetime. I do keep trying to remember that none of this caught our God by surprise. Your words comfort me and help to refocus my thoughts.
I love you sister. Yes please, more poor man meals. Now is the time for all the tips and tricks. We have to keep spreading the good news.
My momma made a version of this. I’m going to make it this weekend. Thanks Becky
I've ate it many times. I've also replaced the hotdogs with sausage or ham, and added tomatoes, as well as eggs. Thanks for bringing back food from my childhood.
To this day ( at 45 yr's old ) I still refer to this meal and other variations of it as my Favorite. Simply Some Of The Best Comfort Foods Also !!!!!!!
Thank you, Becky, for sharing this 'poor man's meal'!! And thank you for being an encourager for us in these turbulent times. God bless you!!
Thank you, Becky! Was raised on this meal - Mom substituted Spam or bologna too! I love your recipes- reminds me of my childhood!
Thank you for the recipes and the daily verses to strengthen our faith in this uncertain times.
Becky thank you so much for your ministry. Learning to put God first in everything I do and feel so much at peace now. Keep those budget meals coming. Thanks once again.
Poor man’s meal looks delicious! Thanks for sharing and yes, would love to see more meals on a budget. Tips too ❤️blessing’s
May God bless you for sharing these things to the world in troubled times.
Food after water is the most important and comforting things there is.
This one made me smile, Becky. Has always been a beloved meal in my dad's family, but uses inexpensive hamsteak instead of hotdogs. My kids are grown and regardless of how "fancy" they may "dine," they will request ham, potatoes, and onion whenever home🙂 Thank you, as always, for your channel!
Just made this the other night! I thought I was the only one that did this. I also put hot dogs in scrambled eggs. Yum.
That actually sounds delicious
hotdogs in kraft dinner hits close to my heart. mom would cook that when times were tough
Eggy with weenies
@@quipher Macaroni and cheese with weenie
Thank you so much for the part when you tell us it will be fine and it's ok to take some losses in order to learn from it.
Not to many people say this even in a face to face conversation. I really needed to hear this in these hard times, once again thank you. Also great recipe, cheap, easy to cook and taste delicious. God bless you.
Totally agree. Sending love from uk. Xxx
❤️
Becky, Thanks for sharing budget meals and budget shopping tips during this time of crazy inflated food prices! There are plenty of viewers who can use all the low cost ideas we can get.
Becky, I feel not so bad when you put such a positive spin on budget meals, we feel like we are not alone. God bless! I've made this dinner and my kids love it too
Your not alone x lots of us are on a tight budget x
@@Julie-si3hi I appreciate your words
Just found your channel. I'll be checking you out more . As for this meal, I've eaten it and feed it to my family in hard times and upon request. They didn't know why I cooked that meal. It was good!! Ketchup on potatoes and hotdogs either together or sepetate can make it taste even better. I use to use kielbasa sausage in mine at times. Ive even used cabbage instead of potatoes to make it cheaper or equal if using the sausage. It was a joy to hear your verse and explanation at the end. Thank you and God bless.
That was a perfect verse for right now. That peace that surpasses all understanding. I wish with our hands we could all hold a shield up over Ukraine. I love watching you when times DO feel tough...because you never fail to give me a smile. My husband is a pastor; I am going to suggest this very verse to him! 🌷♥️🌷
Thanks for sharing, Becky. I've made this for my family for years. You can also add any kind of beans for protein if you don't have hotdogs.
I’m so glad I found you! Keep them coming! ❤️❤️
Growing up in Indiana, we use to eat this dish all of the time, and I loved it. Always topped with just enough cheese & catsup too(although a light drizzling of ranch isn't bad either. Now that I've been in Minnesota for several years, I will make this for me and my better half and we call it my Indiana dish. She's Swedish, but loves it. 👍🏻
What can we all bring? Lol. You're an Angel.
@@reneelosie2644 Bring your appetite! 😉😁
@@kevmodee1866:
I would but I'm in Southern Iowa and we're in a winter storm advisory. Thanks.
@@reneelosie2644 Ewww... I'm so over the cold and snow this year. We've had some record snow and cold temps, but by April hoping for redemption. Hope them same for you folks. 👍🏻
