Usually what mainly cause this is a vacuum leak is located in your Pcv valve that is integrated into your valve cover. You could also have a bad PCV valve hose or a crankshaft seal. That’s gone bad, but normally a bad crankshaft seal will make a loud, whining noise.
To check to see if you have a bad PCV valve integrated onto your valve cover all you have to do is put your finger over it and normally it’ll make a whistling sound or you could pull out your dipstick and it will allow air to be sucked into your engine those two things will tell whether or not you have a bad PCV valve that is located on your valve cover
@@tylerm71 It is most likely related. I've observed it on a few Cruzes I've worked on, actually. The high speed fan activation is a result of the ECU losing communication with sensors it needs to operate correctly. It's probably about to throw a code. When that happens, it turns on the cooling fan as a safety measure. The last time I observed something similar was actually faulty wiring going to the boost pressure sensor on a Chevy Cruze. You can get the same behavior on lots of similar vehicles using similar engine software principles, not just GM.
This video is super helpful! I have P0171 code. If I have the check engine on my dash and replace the Mass Air Flow Sensor, how does the check engine light disappear? If I buy cleaner, where do you spray the cleaner?
You can disconnect your negative terminal for 30 seconds that will clear the code. Also you spray the cleaner on the inside of the mass airflow sensor you’ll see little strips that look like wire and your spray on them. Then let it dry and then you can put it back in.
I got a 2012 eco turbo that recently started to show the mileage per gallon sensor go all over the place it would jump from like 28 to 32 to 38, would this help out? I drive good but not perfectly in the city to be getting 40 miles per gallon with a bunch of stoping and such
Yes if debris got inside the mass airflow sensor on the wire. Then you could get some mass airflow cleaner. brand recommendation is CRC and then spray it on there and let it dry.
P2270 is for the Bank 1 Sensor 2 oxygen sensor located by the converter. P1101 is for the mass airflow sensor. Make sure when you replace these parts you replace them with ACDelco certified.
I have a 2014 chevy cruze LT 1.4L. I go to look up the MAF sensor you have and it says it doesnt fit my car but the one thaf is double the price fits. Is it lying?
The maf sensor that was bought for this Cruze in the video was from Advance Auto and it is AcDelco. It was I believe around $74.00. I do know parts can cost more in other areas and states.
Even as an armchair DIY, I am not convinced that this guy really 'fix' the car. He did not show the symptom, he then slap on a new MAF. Changing out a MAF sensor is easy for anyone, but Why? He used a lot of common words, even I would despise his technical skill, like running rough, like after slaped on the new MAF, the car 'sound better' etc. Anyway, I would not take my car to this guy to fix.
Did anyone see that spider hiding 🕷 😂
Yeah. Daddy Long Leg.
I actually sprayed mine with mass airflow spray and now it works like new!
Good tip on checking the date sensor was manufactured.
MAF sensor is a pain in the ass!! So sensitive!! Ugh!! Thanks for the vid!!

4:08 well hello there
I got code p1101. Idle jumps and sometimes don’t wanna start. Hoping I can clean the maf and fix it
If not you can always get a new one from advance auto just make sure it is an AC Delco because the car doesn’t like aftermarket.
@@StansAuto83 yes and I unplugged it while it was running and there was no change in how it ran. This car has been tricky lol
Yes that they are!
Will this cause a very quiet chirping sound?
Not sure. I know a belt can do that.
It was easy to get to but with one hand it was a challenge. :)
Yes lol
P0171 is the engine code.
My check engine light came on had scanned it said air flow system would the sensor problem. Thanks
It could be.
After you plugged it back in after testing does that high fan noise go away?
No the high fan is normal on Chevy’s and GM vehicles.
@@StansAuto83 cause you plugged the Maf sensor back in and it jumped up instantly, just wanted to make sure

When that happens, just disconnect the battery for 3-10 minutes, reconnect it, and it’ll fix itself.

I unplugged my maf and it started acting crazy but when I unplugged my map sensor nothing changed does that mean I have a bad map sensor?
Normally yes it means it not working.
Where did you get mass air sensor from?
Gm dealership

The code for it. And the test with the scan tool showed it not working.
What about p2228
Causes for this P2228 code may include:

Defective or damaged electrical connector
Wiring issue (e.g. open, short, corrosion)
Electrical short (internal or mechanical)
Loose electrical connection Heat damage
Mechanical malfunction causing altered BAP readings
ECM (Engine Control Module) issue
