    Use the old wooden baseball bat trick to clearance the tires. Roll the bat between the tire and the wheel well and roll the car forward and backward, that should give it more than enough clearance.

      Works great.... just roll it slooow with sready pressure !
      One of the best backyard fixes that, if done right, doesn't really damage the car !
      It's better than a big cut that never looks even ! 🤔🫣

    One way to push out the rear wheelwells is the old baseball bat trick. Insert a bat between the tire and wheel well wherever it will fit, then roll the car so that the bat rolls between the tire and wheel well and pushes the wheel well outwards. :>)

    Hey Dan, If you can find one, look for a Vega torque converter. Behind a built small block it's a 3000-3500 stall. Might be cheaper then a B&M Converter. We use to do that back in the 70's, and it worked fine. Love your channel and videos. Take care and be safe.

    • @jasonseal2692
      @jasonseal2692 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A buddy of mine ran a Vega converter for years. Back then we would snag on from the junk yard for ten or twenty bucks. It would dent the beer fund though.

    16:31 Thrush welded mufflers are my preferred choice on basically any hot rod exhaust I do. I think they are the best sounding chambered muffler. They are only like $50, and last forever. I love how they sound in the higher rpms.

    I think i agree withyou Dan. Id remove a leaf and let the front end drop a bit and soften the ride. Nothing wrong with a streight axle. Had one in my fargo for many years and loved that old truck and how it handled.

  • @chrisw5837
    @chrisw5837 ปีที่แล้ว

    Cool hot rod. I think I agree with you on removing one leaf. It would only lower the front. Touch but will likely help with the suspension feel so it’s not so stiff. I think if Dani does race it it will also help since on the launch if it’s too high he’ll be staring at the clouds. Looking forward to seeing you guys enjoy this hot rod.

    I live in Mississippi, so when you get here,you're going to get tired of people asking you how much do you want for it. I have always wanted a 64 myself, it's a very popular car. If you find one around here they're already fixed up, I'm a mechanic, and would rather build it myself like you're doing. It's all about the build, and I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.Be safe on your trip down here.

All they know from the time they've been around are wind tunnel-designed lookalike, boring cars. I doubt that many knew that this was a gasser, but they sure knew right away that it was some kind of race car. And therefore cool beyond belief.

    Might wanna think about butting a 1- inch or 2-inch block between the rear housing & Leaf springs that way less chance of tires rubbing, Spicely if your butting stuff in the trunk & nailing the gas, Also It will help level the front so the Wife can see better over the hood, But definitely some old fashion Lader bars to help that rear from jumping around after putting in some blocks , The front will still be higher & The back still sitting lower ( No cutting the body up) Plus It will look so Awesome ! Also 373 gears in the rear with a overdrive trans will work great for them long halls and help keep it running cooler with keepping them RPM's down , Great Videos Man , Keep it going .

    I had an old clunker years ago where the floor had rotted out and I had patched it. The speedo cable retainer had rotted off as well, My speedo ceased working except when the cable would flex just right, if the cable isnt perfectly straight 90* from trans it pulls speed gear away enough to slip or disengage as well as to prematurely wear the speedo gear itself. Found the right angle and secured the cable to correct the problem. That may not be your issue but it might be.
