Sublime! DSCH's genius lives on...
Clear and transparent interpretation of this multilateral masterpiece in a relatively fast tempo with perfectly synchronized sound of all the instruments. The highest technique of four soloists is still incomparable until today. This valuable recording should be more frequently heard and more highly estimated!
The third quartet is a kind of paradox. It starts in a quite tonal atmosphrere, seeming to be a pasticcio of Haydn. Modulations to far tonalities appear here and here, keeping however the clasiical tonal structure. The rest of the quartet is more ambiguous, but no stylistic radical break occurs. . Chostakovitch had not started his final style, often very lonely, often very sarcastic. This quartet illustrates an intermediate mood, which is very intersting to hear. The interpretation is quite direct, well in line with what interpreting this quartet requests. Thanks for posting.
Je ne sais plus vraiment, je perds la tête depuis quelque temps ! En tout cas, cette musique est merveilleuse, elle m'aide à m'endormir paisiblement. Et c'est heureux parce que mes névroses envahissantes, grignotent ma raison!!!!!

Klare und durchsichtige Interpretation dieses vielseitigen Meisterwerks im relativ schnellen Tempo mit perfekt synchronisierten Töne aller Instrumente. Die höchste Technik vierer Solisten ist noch unvergleichlich bis heute. Diese wertvolle Aufnahme soll viel häufiger angehört und viel höher geschätzt werden!

What year was this recorded / released?
Wish it was written. From the 4 players listed in the credits, that would be the formation that recorded the first quasi complete set (2 last missing, not yet composed!) in the mid sixties. So this could be what we listen to, pretty clean rendition that it is.
well, we have to recognize clarity and genius when it rises this is it; Shostakovich was a superlative recorder, hardly a composer
