I have a question if anyone knows I could use your knowledge. Can a Christian be a narcissist? Can they truly put the Lord first before themselves? Ty. God bless everyone. 🕊️♥️

Interesting question... At first I wanted to say yes because we are all wretched sinners. After thinking about it for a minute, I would say no. To truly be a Christian, God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit must be the most important thing in your life. We are all selfish and display narcissistic tendencies at times, but if I understand narcissism right, they put themselves first all of the time, leaving no room for God.

@ thank you. That helps me to understand more. It’s what I felt too but wanted a fellow Christians perspective. And I’m praying about her, and for her for the Lord to help her with this. Everyone sees it but her. Thank you again. God bless you. 🕊️♥️

If you're referring to a particular person in your life, you must discern whether they have narcissistic traits at times or if they are a full blown narcissist. It's easy to find out but could also make for an uncomfortable situation. Confront them. If they are a full blown narcissist, they'll flip out on you, it will get ugly. If they are not a narcissist, they will be open to constructive criticism and just may not be aware of their behavior.

@ yes it’s my sister. I don’t dare confront her. She will definitely attack anyone who confronts her That’s great to know. You don’t want to believe your own sister is a narcissist but you can’t deny it. Life with her was like walking on glass. Now that we are much older she will not talk to you if you say anything negative to her about her. Thank you for your help. I’m mostly concerned about her relationship with the Lord. She says great things but can also say things that you shouldn’t hear coming from a Christian.

@@carolinekinney2364 I know exactly what you mean about walking on glass, my mother. So many times growing up, I would hear family members say "Whatever you do, don't set (name) off.". I haven't spoken to her since Fall 2018, except for one email exchange where she told me I was "fucking crazy" and told an egregious lie. I can only suggest that you keep praying for her, and try to slip relevant and edifying scripture into conversation. If the abuse is too severe, cut ties. Sometimes that's the only way to get someone's attention. Works with my dad but not my mother.
