Wow, I'm glad I saw your video before I purchase mine. The polyurethane and silicone additions are great tips for longevity! I would be extremely disappointed if I had to buy another one after only 3 years of use. Many thanks! 😎👍🏻🐔🐔
We have the same chicken coop, got it at trackter supply too $300.00. and so ours is under a barn lean to but we will be doing your idea! Thank you for the help. God bless. We have 2 hens, there just for fresh eggs, they beat walmarts eggs all day long! Have a Great day.
I agree, any pre-fabricated coop won’t last very long at all. 3 years if you’re lucky! That’s part of the reason I chose this one, the metal frame should hold up well. Great ideas for prolonging the lifespan! I’m definitely saving this video for future modifications. 😎 (Edit: I would add caulking to the screws on the tin roof for added water protection.)
Just this week our city changed the ordinance for Chickens. I got the same one as you have and I did the silicone caulk as you did. I am going to use Venture Clad on the roofs. Also going to set it on treated 2x6's. Going to do Rustolieum on the wood. Very nice vid.
Thank you so much for making this video. We just got the same coop and I'm so glad we found this. We saw some other videos where people said theirs only last 2 to 3 years. I was curious what size self tappers you used and if you sealed them or not?
@@EastRiverHomestead Please consider an update, as a little prevention should have extend the coops wear. I am thinking about getting back into having some chickens, but I do not want to build a coop from scratch. I have been looking a the plastic coops, THe TIKE Style of put together and a dog run with a roof.
Thanks for the ideas. I'm thinking maybe reframing a roof to allow better ventilation in the gable for winter (in Ohio) and using the metal roofing for longevity. How has it held up after a year?
Nice job! I think it does look great. Those are great tips as well.
Thanks!

Thank you for the weatherproofing tips! Headed to get polyurethane and silicone now!
Great job! Excellent ideas! 👍
Thanks for the idea, what kind of screws did you use for the metal roof?
Thank you. Metal roofing screws. You can get them at any big box store.

Metal roof screws come with a rubber gasket to seal when tightened.
@@tonygaines15 I will have to pay attention and make sure to get those. Our coop is getting put together this weekend. 😎
@@EastRiverHomestead how many chickens 🐔 do you have

Pimp My Coop! -that’s awsome
Looks great!! I hope it holds well for you
The metal frame on the ground should be put on treated lumber, great job
I'm thinking about getting this coop, you've got some great ideas for upgrades. Thanks!
I thought about getting this coop but we decided to make our own instead. I got some good ideas from you on using the tin though. Good work.
Please post a video when you do.

How has it held up after a year?
I just got this same coop but mine came with 2 vent holes on the aide panels. Still want to waterproof a bit more to make it last
@@EastRiverHomestead that be great to see your updates on it. N so far I love it for my 3 birds they look so cute scratching around in there
Roughly how much was needed for the roof upgrade? I really like that idea
Id do this but I would cut myself on the edges. Great idea tho.
So how Is the roof holding up? I may do this to the coop we have
Great idea! Do you find that that particular coop needs extra ventilation for summer? We are about to build ours
@@EastRiverHomestead thanks for the response! Btw what did you use to secure this to roof?
@@EastRiverHomestead thank you!
