I forgot to mention that before the Cara Delevingne character dies, she says she did kill the twin when she did that ultrasound. So in the show apparently Anna had been pregnant with twins all along...? Not a fan of this change and prefer the book! Where as said, her single baby really did die but then was brought back. The doctors say it must have been vanishing twin syndrome in the book simply because they don't know how else to describe it.

I was hoping they were going to twist back around to some semblance of the book, on other channels people have really nothing but hate for the way they ended the show, why would someone just show up and be able to kill 2000 year old witches with a few words? Lazy writing.

    • @wildmarjoramdieselpunk6396

The TV version stated that Ivy had killed the human twin. Anna had both a monstrous male child and a human female child. I assumed then it was different twins and not the same baby coming back. See, this is why changing the book just enough makes this a hot mess at times! I also talk of the TV characters with different name like Ivy/Meg..but then it is also a bit Ivy/Meg/Cora? And wasn’t Emily Anna’s manager? A British woman? I am not sure why Siobhan took her over, but her character wasn’t really Siobhan/Emily either. I think the biggest mistake was renaming Preecher Mavis instead of Io. Io is a solid, mythological name. :) But I was hoping maybe the spirit that came into the human baby was Adeline, like how the actor Siobhan’s spirit entered the baby in the book for the common good, but there is no evidence that this happened in the show. It would be cool if this child was Adeline or Hestia in the flesh.

The thing about the book is you realize how much of the crazy is internal dialogue, not that I can ever get pregnant but I think we all have been there when your internal dialogue is trying to convince you the world is against you. Its just extra because of all the changes a woman goes through when pregnant.

    • @Louise-wk5yf
      @Louise-wk5yf หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Explained from Reddit:
In episode 7, the witches circle Adeline, Ivy says "You have no power other than what she gives you" then Sonia says "and takes away". So Adeline had power, it got taken away by Siobhan once she left the cult, which explains why the chant failed for her at the restaurant, because she didn't have power.
Siobhan later gives Anna power when she accepts the baby and is given the green heels. Anna is able to cast the chant/ ritual at Siobhan with the power Siobhan gave her.
The witches are bloodbound, and die together.

I'm always open to different stories regardless of what they are about, especially with AHS. It's been one of my most loved shows for a while now. That said...this show has gone INCREDIBLY down hill. At least when they went political witg AHS CULT, it was a cohesive and very entertaining and scary story.
Lately however....the show seems lazy, disconnected and rushed. There are plot lines that go nowhere more regularly and they have now more then ever been force feeding ideology and politics down our throats. And to add on to that...there has been an overwealming amount of 'Man Hating' and 'Masculinity = BAD'...and "Patriarchy blah blah blah...if it wasn't for men everything would be better etc etc etc.
Its a huge put off. And it makes me not want to watch this show anymore.
As a man, I don't want to sit down to watch my favorite show and be talked down to about how inherently bad I am because I'm a Man.

@@WhytheBookWinsYup. Even if they went with Hestia coven, it would have been a fresh take. And I forgot other seasons when the Big Bad was knocked down pretty fast, like in AHS: Apocalypse. I wouldn’t have been surprised if the end connected with that season but it didn’t. And it was weird that the coven in AHS: Coven would not be aware of Siobhan’s Lilith-ness and her plots. Also, AHS: Roanoke reflects a bit of Celtic Witchery but not enough as I wanted it too…but Siobhan’s actions and the First Surpreme’s actions in Roanoke, especially sexually, are quite alike.

I didn’t really get why they wouldn’t use more of the book. This season was a fever dream. I get bored of the witches=Satanic. And then it was Hestia vs. Satan, which isn’t even the same mythological systems. I would have loved a Hestia cult fighting the Satanic one. It was weird they acted like the coven was for the matriarchy…but then they would kill each our and definitely wasn’t women helping women. It was so contradictory. Plus, a Hestia chant destroyed an almost Lilith like character very easily. It’s cheesy like you say. Adeline just appeared with no explanation and Anna and her have no connection but Dex…I don’t know. Much of it didn’t make sense.😊

They do that because it's what we are not expecting it actually. They do this juxtaposition with each deity/evil power just to show you that Lilith is not necessarily powerful and unbeatable or stubborn and Hestia is not all about life in domestic aspect but she can allowed women to have their independence/ career that a women or mother wish she can have. It's all about balance and it's to show how society or families in general is lack in critical thinking or voicing out something creative that's necessarily doesn't have to always against the grain. It's refreshing.

@@WhytheBookWins the unpredictable route in this story is that how the husband seems involved but he's actually not. And I guess that's what can be fueled the stress in mother hood is and it's a good choice to amp more dynamic in a true sense of relatability where every mother whose watching can relate thus it's makes more sense to the title of 'delicate conditions' and the confusion Anna must faced in the hormonal changes and motherhood stress type of way. Something that can get throw under the bus easily.

But anyway, I love love the messages in both, while de book it’s a positive feminist point of view in pregnancy, the series is… let’s just say a “general” perspective about wishes, dreams and what would you give up for it. Btw! Some reviewers thinks that the series is more like a modern fairy tale, Siobhan being the bad witch and Ana de innocent modern “princess”. I like my witches more positive. More woman positive. The show was more about how the Lilith like Siobhan was making male monsters and killing off the girl children and female witches and making Dex’s dad important for some reason. Like they say they need males and females cannot create anything like Ivy says. It doesn’t feel very “girl power”. It feels a bit male gazey and stereotyped which is weird because a woman was the showrunner and the whole writers room. Usually AHS has a writers’ room of 5-10 writers so having only one writer is crazy. A heavy burden for that lady. But why couldn’t they have the positive way the book ends within the show. They did change the message of the book. That sucked.

Did anyone notice some correlation between show plot & Wizard of Oz plot? A powerful witch dies easily in both stories by younger heroine, twin witch sisters are important characters in both works, the presence of symbolic heels (notice that the color of heels used in AHS show are green which is Emerald City's theme color), both heroines had the power within themselves to go back "home" or get back to "normalcy" symbolized by the use of their shoes & repeating a chant while wearing shoes (Dorothy clicks shoes and repeats I Wish I was Home & ends up back "home" while Anna repeats chant while wearing symbolic heels & uses same heels to kills last remaining spider while she returns to normalcy & goes back home metaphorically), women have the most power in show and Wiz of Oz (Glenda, Wicked Witches, Dorothy, Dorothy's Aunt, etc ). It makes me wonder if AHS show writer was a big fan of author L.F. Baum and/or his most famous book.

@WhytheBookWins well, remember he walked in his family's home and caught his dad having sex with Siobhan and saw them taking his mom's blood and his father admitted that Virginia wasn't his real mom? Then days later as he was walking out of Adeline's restaurant the night when the coven killed her, he was heading out of the restaurant then paused and had then walked back to Adeline which surprised her and he hugged her really tight as if he knew something was about to happen? It was as if he was saying goodbye to her with an unexpected longer than usual hug. Remember when he went to his mom's house on the night she was found in the tub, the message on the mirror said "I tried to warn you"... which I thought was a message left for Dex just as the other mirror messages were left for Anna at their NYC home. One last point. When Anna told Dex that she thinks the baby is still alive while they were in the bathroom, he hugged her and the camera were placed on his face and he looked disappointed at the thought that she mightve gotten pregnant. I'm not sure Dex was completely oblivious to the coven's involvement or existence.

@WhytheBookWins thanks for your response. I never read the book and was wondering if u noticed that the coven was drinking blood from the decapitated heads of Preecher & Babette in the finale? Originally I thought that the coven couldn't kill a woman who gave up her baby even if she didn't join the coven which might explain why the coven hadn't killed Preecher much sooner instead of allowing Preecher to constantly meet and warn Anna? Afterall, Ivy was present in coffee shop & overheard Preecher telling Anna all of the backstory about Dr Hill & the coven. Why allow Preecher to live long and give her multiple opportunities to reveal or warn other potential female victims and if you give up your baby to the coven, doesnt it give you any protection from them moving forward. Did Adeline intentionally seek out Dex because she knew the coven would find out and it would lure them to her so that she could eventually use her Hestia chant? To me, the show never answered those questions. Anyhow thanks for the great review!

Re your last question about Adeline, I saw someone elsewhere suggest this: and it makes sense to me: Adeline used to be part of the coven but turned against them and since Dex is Siobhan’s son, she may have been with him but refusing to have children in order to prevent the coven’s plan from working. Which is in turn why the coven then kills Adeline, so that Dex is free to be with another woman and have Siobhan’s monster baby.
Not sure about the chants. While living, her chanting rituals may have been more to just stave them off. I saw yet another person say that she wasn’t able to stop the coven with the chant on her own(maybe because she is an ex-witch) and the chant was only successful with Anna’s support (she’s more “pure”)

Fun fact, in the first episode at Anna, Dex, Thalia and his wife's dinner, Thalia says that "She still feeling Adeline's spirit around them" and asks the others if they don't feel the same, being a clue about how the season ends, it seems like Adeline was present all season looking for the right moment to take her revenge 👀👀

I do not care for Cara Delevingne, so I was happy her character got killed, haha. But the biggest saving grace this season was not having to deal with a major Leslie Grossman character. I enjoyed this season, but I miss Jessica Lange and Angela Bassett.
I didn't understand why they didn't just kill Preecher in the show. I didn't feel bad for Dex, but I did feel bad for the bodyguard. The book sounds a lot better in my opinion with the witches not being evil. That's a nice twist. The show's ending didn't even feel like a real ending to me. I kept expecting another scene or previews of a continuation. My assumption (just by the show's ending) was that Anna had one more choice, but by taking her Oscar with her that she screwed herself and her child.

    • @WhytheBookWins
      @WhytheBookWins  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

Yeah having them be evil was very typical.
And that is an interesting thought with the ending! I had seen her having both as a positive thing, but you could be on to something with your interpretation!

Ahs “The Coven” season crosses over into several seasons. Hotel, Cult, end of 1984 and more..If you watch Coven and the following seasons, you will see how much they randomly pop up! Coven is by far my favorite season. You will see the Delicate ending is actually quite a disappointment in comparison. (Imo)🖤

Where was this confirmed? Coven is set in 2013 when madison is roughly 16/17 years old.
Delicate is set in present day 2023/2024 meaning madison is in her late 20’s or early 30’s.

I love American Horror Story! Delicate wasn’t bad just was not what I expected. I personally thought that it would tell more or show more of Anna battling the evil witches. Drag it on a bit make it longer! Explain it better. Plus they didn’t show the baby’s face just the claws! I was disappointed in that one lol 😂 I would have loved it to be longer and really go into detail about it!

I thought it was a decent adaptation, but I definitely think the first part was a lot stronger than the second part. I personally really didn't like how they made the witches evil in the end because it felt lazy. What I really enjoyed reading the book was that it was never very clear what was going on, and a lot of the time it seemed like it was a cult stalking her but without anything supernatural happening only to be revealed it was a coven of witches that had brought her baby back and was trying to help her. I didn't overly mind the witches being fairly explicit in the show early on, but I feel that things like revealing the Ashleys were witches before Siobhan even introduces them was an odd/bad choice. It would have been better to leave Siobhan's connection to the coven more ambiguous until the final episode.

I think Rosemary's Baby is a masterpiece BECAUSE of how terrible it is for Rosemary. It is so frustrating and really makes you feel, it is a horror movie after all. But with that being said, I 100% rather watching more positive takes on the story and think this AHS season had a perfect mix of the Rosemary's Baby darkness and the Delicate Condition light.

Overall not the best ending great season 8/10 it saved ahs cs it was better than the last two seasons but Ryan js disspointed me w the ending n it’s crazy cus he had such good source material I prefer the books ending bc the way the book ended it left me creeped out more than scared which I loved only thing abt the shows ending I loved was that they kept the reincarnation twist from the book but besides that I didn’t like the changes in the shows finale the witches plan to take over the world eventually wasn’t in the book their lines were goofy n they shoudlve just kept siobbans powerful monologue from the book n did that bc Kim’s character had such good lines from the book especially when she gaslights Anna into joining the coven by mentioning how the men in her life failed her before the coven had eyes on her by not telling Anna why her body was miscarrying n making her go to appointment after appt when Anna can js accept the help of the “village of women” who will take care of her according to siobban. Js saying the ending was the best part of the book n Ryan coudlve made it even better but instead he added too much corny changes in the witches purpose compared to the novel

For me this is the worst season of AHS. So much of this season felt like they didn't have enough story so they were padding the story out with a lot of nothing. I quickly grow tried of the is it real and or is it not stick this show over relied on. Most of this season was incredibly boring for me and I kept waiting for something interesting to happen. I found the vignettes that took place in the past at the beginning of the episodes to be far more interesting with actual tension to them unlike like the majority of the show. Episode 7 is my favorite episode of the season because it had actual tension to it and it didn't do any of the hallucination nonsense that this season was obsessed with.
At this point I wasn't expecting much from the season final but WOW they exceeded my expectations for how bad it turn out to be. I am not sure if I am suppose to be scared by the events of the episode or found it to be funny because its so badly written and over the top ridiculous that I can't take any of it seriously. The baby bits or claws off Dex hand & the master plan is so incredible stupid. The dialogue is so cringe. Oh by the way did you know that all humans were born by women. WOW I had no ideal what other sage wisdom do you have for me. The witches outfits are so ridiculous looking that as well as the dialogue and delivery of these words being so campy It under cuts any kind of tension they my of been trying to build.
The master plan is so laughably bad. Were going to get rid of all men except the ones we keep as sex slaves because men are the cause of all of the worlds problems with their toxic masculinity. Yeah because I am sure of society with women ruling would be perfect and all women would get along with each other and never argue or backstab each other over anything. Theirs so much about this plan that makes nonsense I am not even going to waste time braking all down.

The season has its own world… The book Delicate Condition tells it all… In the book, ‘Delicate’ ends with Anna alone in her house, which is still painted red. Suddenly able to use her legs again, she gets out of the wheelchair and puts on what used to be Siobhan's headdress. Slowly, she goes to her baby who's crying in the next room. He's now no longer a monster but a normal child. Siobhan represented as Lilith in the Bible. Now will move on to season 13

The finale is currently the lowest scored episode of AHS on IMDB. And the fact that this is, in the end, such a bad adaptation that misses the point of the book, hurts because this is the first season of AHS with a female show runner. If you do decide to watch another season of AHS, I'd go with either Asylum or Coven. Or 1984 if you want some cheesey campy fun.
