    I think the biggest reason for their collapse are the injuries to Kyrie and Gordon Hayward in 2018.
    If those injuries never happened, the young guys on the team wouldn’t have had to step up in the 2018 playoffs. This means they wouldn’t have had the confidence or just wouldn’t have been as ball dominant in 2019 (The 2019 Celtic’s biggest problem was the large amount of ball dominant players on the team). This means the Locker room problems wouldn’t have been as prevalent (or wouldn’t have happened at all) because the young guys wouldn’t have had their moment in 2018. This was probably poorly worded, so here you go:
    The point is, if those 2 injuries don’t happen in 2018, the 2019 Celtics don’t fall apart because of their locker room issues and large amount of ball dominant players, and we have a Celtics dynasty.

    • @wh3elson
      @wh3elson 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      This is true. They basically proved it: “The two “best” players were out and we made it tot he finals, maybe in reality if I was given the chance I’m the best player”. American NBA basketball is inherently selfish, give the ball to your best player most of the time, and when he’s crowded give it to your 2nd. Screen for your 1 and 2 to get them open. It also doesn’t help the biggest contracts and fame goes to those players. So the rookie squad who’s “proved” themselves worthy of the 1/2 are wondering why they’re being pushed back into their former roles even if statistically and factually they are worse

      Its a double-edged sword for sure. If Tatum, Brown & Rozier don't step up in 2018 then egos don't implode the team in 2019. The flip side is because those three stepped up it showed what Tatum & Brown can do with more experience and made Rozier's trade value go up. Flipping Rozier for Kemba Walker on paper after Kyrie left SHOULD have made the team just as nasty in 2020 but as well know Kemba's knees weren't up to it.

      kyrie is the most hated player in the NBA and it’s extremely weird to me. anything he does gets absolutely blown out of proportion for no reason. I will never in my life understand the immense amount of hate he gets for wanting to be a normal guy outside of basketball. Anytime he talks to the media it gets twisted and goes thru the wringer and comes out on TV as something totally different than what he actually meant. Social media enables everyone to believe they know these players, not just kyrie but all these NBA players on a personal level when they don’t know anything about these guys personal life or mental struggles. NBA fans think that just because these guys get paid so much they should just suck it up and do whatever the fans want. It’s weird, the internet is weird. We are all behind a screen, we don’t know anything about these guys besides what the media says but nobody seems to realize that.

      Scared Terry was a no show in the most important games (0-10 from 3 in game 7, ring a bell?) and the next season he was horrible, just a couple good games here and there because he thought himself more important than the team and wanted to be the star. I would add that the Celtics have needed a good passer for a long time. The reason they were always able to outperform with IT was due to his passing ability to find the young stars. Then they choose Kyrie, a volume scoring pg and it blows up in their faces. Then they choose Kemba Walker, another volume scoring pg and it blows up in their faces. A floor general who could set up Tatum and Brown would've been massive (now, everything with the Celtics is iso and it's such a mess), but instead they made questionable choices of how to surround Brown, Tatum, and Smart

      You said all that but failed to mention they were on a 17 game win streak with Kylie and was top 10 on both offense and defense. It wasn’t on Kyrie, it was on weak coaching and poor management of rotations.

    "Doc was a championship caliber coach"
    Yeah who is the biggest choker in the playoffs of any coach ever. Is that REALLY championship caliber? If three hall of famers drag me to a championship am i championship caliber?

    The problem is that none of the two Jays is good enough to carry a franchise to championship. This is now clear, but this wasn't the case a couple of years ago. They were so good in 2018 because nobody had expectations about them and they were playing as a team. The Kyrie trade was top notch, but the Hayward signing was questionable because he is not a player that wins you a ring as a second option. IMO, they had to trade everything to get AD and pair him with Kyrie + a solid two-way player like Jimmy Butler. With the amount of assets they had this was doable, but still super difficult to give up on two top prospects like the Jays.

      Kyrie isn't good enough to carry a franchise to a championship as we saw in 2018, at least the Js were good enough to carry Boston to 3 ECFs, Kyrie couldn't even do that because of his terrible leadership and defense.

    12:50 "the two best prospects in their classes". Thats debatable tbh, there's a few other good players and we havent seen enough separation to definitively say who is the best of each class

      Tatum is definitely the best balanced player in his draft class. He can score, rebound, pass, defend, oh wait. He is the best from that draft class
