Thankfully, kyrie left the team. JT and JB proved they can lead a team with the right pieces around them and Celtics are clearly better without kyrie (we celtics fans said it years ago, but people are just starting to realize it now) so this aged poorly. I'm happy that the celtics are finals bound ☘️☘️☘️
“Despite what seemed to be a promising situation, the Celtics have never made as far as they had in 2018.” ... Except in 2020 when they also made the Eastern Conference Finals.
The fact that Boston has a chance to go to 2 straight NBA Finals after this video is insane. Their mid-season turnaround last year was nothing short of amazing
Boston Celtics didn't have anything to do with ruining a dynasty, they weren't the ones that injured Hayward and Kyrie every year or turned Kyrie into a nutjob. Might as well say how the Nets ruined a dynasty because Kyrie won't get a vaccine. There's no team in the NBA that would ever be considered a dynasty with Kyrie as your #1 player, he's not even a Robin, he's more like an Alfred.
Other than his talks on grant and Romeo they have both showed potential an grant has been a great spot up shooter but other than that yes described perfectly 😢
I would have liked to see what would have happened if we did not trade guards with Charlotte. Terry Rozier priced himself out of Boston with his playoff play in Kyrie's absence. Boston sure knows how to waste money signing point guards.
Scared Terry was a no show in the most important games (0-10 from 3 in game 7, ring a bell?) and the next season he was horrible, just a couple good games here and there because he thought himself more important than the team and wanted to be the star. Dude, if you can't play good coming off the bench how can you be a star? He was just as detrimental to that team as kyrie was. So glad he's gone
Haven't watched the video yet but I must say the Celtics had a very deep roster in that 2017-18 season which was a blessing and a curse at the same time sadly. Kyrie, Brown, Tatum, Horford, Marcus Morris, Smart, Terry Rozier, Hayward, and company could have been something had certain issues not come up
really like how the comments are coming depending on how Boston was currently doing as of writing this, the Tatum and Brown duo are in jeopardy will see how the upcoming offseason goes
Since this video was made the worst the team has done is lose the ECF in 7 games 😂 basically the tatum-brown era has had 2 years wjere the team failed miserably...19 and 21
Man I'll never forget how cringy it was to see kyrie say he wanted to lead a team, got the chance and his body couldn't hold up, having him say he was going to resign Infront of a home crowd who needed a star to cling to, and then changing his mind and leaving Boston in worse state it was in before he came really did change the way alot of people look at him even today, kyrie showed he can be a great 2nd star but he can never be THAT guy imo he really brought that team down when it was all said and done
I would add that the Celtics have needed a good passer for a long time. The reason they were always able to outperform with IT was due to his passing ability to find the young stars. Then they choose Kyrie, a volume scoring pg and it blows up in their faces. Then they choose Kemba Walker, another volume scoring pg and it blows up in their faces. A floor general who could set up Tatum and Brown would've been massive (now, everything with the Celtics is iso and it's such a mess), but instead they made questionable choices of how to surround Brown, Tatum, and Smart
@@michaelmeteviet9702 That kinda proves my point though. Once they stop doing the iso nonsense they are a great team, but only in the last few weeks have they been playing good team basketball
The disease of more caused this, after the Celtics almost made the Finals without Kyrie and Hayward, the young players wanted more minutes and shots, Hayward didn't fit into the system because he never really played for the Celtics before that 2018-19 season, and Kyrie Hogged the ball to much.
This reminds me of how good Isiah Thomas was and makes me feel bad for what happened to him after. The guy was one of my favourite players when started watching basketball.
Seeing how Cam pumped new life into the Panthers I can see IT doing the same for Boston even if he's coming off the bench. The roar from the crowd whenever he checks in would revitalize the team
I may be on my own with this but I always believed that Boston shouldn’t have traded for Kyrie and should’ve upgraded Rozier to start over IT (and have IT run the bench unit), Boston didn’t need a ball dominant scoring PG like Kyrie they needed a guard that can play on AND off ball, can defend and also be the third scoring option behind Tatum and Brown, Rozier was that guy
This video is amazing and goes into great detail, but I wish you mentioned IT dropped 53 against the wizards on his sisters birthday who had passed in a car accident the night before ( RIP Chyna Thomas) no hate tho just wanted to point it out
I mean 2018 and 2019 really. Y'alls far exceeded expectations in 2018 with the rise of Tatum and Brown following a Hayward injury (and later on Kyrie). Then of course y'all had to be disappointing due to a number of issues. 2020 came along and looked promising until that series against the Heat. 2021 was very disappointing which now leads us to here...

Just read comments and my oh my, how the tables have indeed turned. Twas heartbreaking season after season as i saw the celtics getting so close to going to the finals. The seasons the c's have lost served as lessons and stepping stones for where they are right now. They have done ALOT to make it here and i am a proud fan for staying through the tough years! Lets get it! #bleedgreen #banner18
Find it laughable people always refer to that few years a dynasty when the celtics never even won anything. For a dynasty to happen obviously they gotta first win a championship, then go back to back for a few years, not necessarily winning, but just be a constant presence in the finals, neither of which this group of celtics have ever done. They were a dynasty of choking at the ECF were more appropriate
Literally nobody calls them a dynasty and they were NEVER favorites to win in those years. This just Celtics hater porn. Their best seasons are to come
I think most common-sense people knew it was obvious that he meant the Celtics EMERGING dynasty was ruined, meaning things were promising but it got ruined before it got a chance to come to fruition. Since it seemed obvious, he didn't feel he needed to add so many words to explain it to everyone, but I guess at least 13 people didn't understand the assumption.
Kyrie was never staying in Boston. The guy clearly cares about no one but himself. If not look at how he has left the Brooklyn Nets. Time to start making your next video: How the Nets Ruined a Dynasty.
Kyrie Irving RUINED it. He tried to claim "I am the man" status without earning it in the locker room. So, when the team was super successful without him during a playoff run, nobody wanted to back down and concede to Kyrie Irving, a dude who has NEVER proven that he can carry a team. LOL
The fact that you can’t respect an nba champion when he says “I am the man” just shows you how egotistical the team was. I’m glad kyrie left these mfs. They’re been garbage even since.
@@khairulkafee9500 "The fact that you can’t respect an nba champion " Kyrie Irving has never carried a team through the playoffs. He is a glorified role player.

Bro it’s on Kyrie. The man did not lead Boston, he is injury prone, trash leader, drama all the time, poor defender etc. who else is there to blame? You so eloquently pointed out the solid picks the Celtics made, solid trades initially, everything was set up for kyrie to succeed yet he could not do it. Let’s call it how it is.
Kyrie has proven throughout his career that he NEEDED Lebron. Although immensely talented, without Bron to be the healthy one, the dependable one, the leader, the defensive anchor, the passer, number 1 option, and everything else everywhere Kyrie goes his teams underperform. Kyrie was handed the keys to the kingdom and fumbled it as usual.
You said all that but failed to mention they were on a 17 game win streak with Kylie and was top 10 on both offense and defense. It wasn’t on Kyrie, it was on weak coaching and poor management of rotations.
"Doc was a championship caliber coach" Yeah who is the biggest choker in the playoffs of any coach ever. Is that REALLY championship caliber? If three hall of famers drag me to a championship am i championship caliber?
The problem is that none of the two Jays is good enough to carry a franchise to championship. This is now clear, but this wasn't the case a couple of years ago. They were so good in 2018 because nobody had expectations about them and they were playing as a team. The Kyrie trade was top notch, but the Hayward signing was questionable because he is not a player that wins you a ring as a second option. IMO, they had to trade everything to get AD and pair him with Kyrie + a solid two-way player like Jimmy Butler. With the amount of assets they had this was doable, but still super difficult to give up on two top prospects like the Jays.
Kyrie isn't good enough to carry a franchise to a championship as we saw in 2018, at least the Js were good enough to carry Boston to 3 ECFs, Kyrie couldn't even do that because of his terrible leadership and defense.
12:50 "the two best prospects in their classes". Thats debatable tbh, there's a few other good players and we havent seen enough separation to definitively say who is the best of each class

Thankfully, kyrie left the team. JT and JB proved they can lead a team with the right pieces around them and Celtics are clearly better without kyrie (we celtics fans said it years ago, but people are just starting to realize it now) so this aged poorly.

@@vroom6059 Fuck yeah we are.
The fact that Boston has a chance to go to 2 straight NBA Finals after this video is insane. Their mid-season turnaround last year was nothing short of amazing
even tho the video aged like milk, i still think it was really well made (and truthful at the time)
still no rings
@@SASBurner Exactly
Yeah it all changed in 2022 for them
And still haven’t won shit
Boston Celtics didn't have anything to do with ruining a dynasty, they weren't the ones that injured Hayward and Kyrie every year or turned Kyrie into a nutjob. Might as well say how the Nets ruined a dynasty because Kyrie won't get a vaccine. There's no team in the NBA that would ever be considered a dynasty with Kyrie as your #1 player, he's not even a Robin, he's more like an Alfred.
Welp celshit fan detected
I think that's an insult to Alfred 😅
He has a ring as robin already bruh 😂

Just trade the entire Boston Celtics rooster for Warriors' entire rooster, problem solved.
@@blue-phoenix115 lol! I wish!!!
If the Celtic go far this season. It might be time to update this video from destroyed and rebuild again
Talk about a badly aged video
I feel like injuries killed them, starting with Hayward game 1
I also think the team just couldn't find the right offense and kyrie seemed out of place with them.
Haven't watched the video yet but I must say the Celtics had a very deep roster in that 2017-18 season which was a blessing and a curse at the same time sadly. Kyrie, Brown, Tatum, Horford, Marcus Morris, Smart, Terry Rozier, Hayward, and company could have been something had certain issues not come up
really like how the comments are coming depending on how Boston was currently doing
as of writing this, the Tatum and Brown duo are in jeopardy will see how the upcoming offseason goes
Since this video was made the worst the team has done is lose the ECF in 7 games 😂 basically the tatum-brown era has had 2 years wjere the team failed miserably...19 and 21
Man I'll never forget how cringy it was to see kyrie say he wanted to lead a team, got the chance and his body couldn't hold up, having him say he was going to resign Infront of a home crowd who needed a star to cling to, and then changing his mind and leaving Boston in worse state it was in before he came really did change the way alot of people look at him even today, kyrie showed he can be a great 2nd star but he can never be THAT guy imo he really brought that team down when it was all said and done
we swept Cryrie and made the finals
@@koolman638 Cryrie, this should be a more known nickname
I always thought Irving was going around the locker room trying to convince everyone the world is flat and eventually everyone got annoyed
Since Reagan was in office they have the Same amount of titles as Mavs, Bucks, Raptors
This didn't age well
@@michaelmeteviet9702 How so?
@@domskillet5744 the iso ball part, they are one of the best passing teams now.
@@michaelmeteviet9702 That kinda proves my point though. Once they stop doing the iso nonsense they are a great team, but only in the last few weeks have they been playing good team basketball
@@domskillet5744 ehhh, its going on 2 months now, since the Christmas game they've turned it around but user what you're saying.
Fax sometimes all it takes is a little bit of familiarity too drive a group of talented people to win
I had no beef with Boston prior to what happened with IT…after that they’re my most despised franchise.
I agree, they drop him when did so much for them
His "Brinx truck" comments and bad hip doomed him to be trade bait.
His bad hip that was aggravated because Boston didn’t tell him how bad it was?
The max contract he was actually worth before that incident?
So if you were Danny and Kyrie became available, and you knew IT had a f*cked up hip, you would have stood pat?

i really like how you edited the video, it is really nice to watch
Kyrie got annoyed of being number 2. Tried to be number 1 and flopped. Then decided on being number 2 to KD lol.
Then became Number 3 when James Harden got traded their.
I once believed scary terry could develop in the celtic alongside Smart, Brown, and Tatum
This video is amazing and goes into great detail, but I wish you mentioned IT dropped 53 against the wizards on his sisters birthday who had passed in a car accident the night before ( RIP Chyna Thomas) no hate tho just wanted to point it out
He did on his other video exclusively about IT
It takes literally 10 seconds to mention it
As a Knicks fans, Those Isiah Thomas teams were so fun to watch.
Lookin at the Celtics now I’d say they didn’t waste anything at all
So much pain because we had the potential to be one of the best power houses in the east in 2019
I mean 2018 and 2019 really. Y'alls far exceeded expectations in 2018 with the rise of Tatum and Brown following a Hayward injury (and later on Kyrie). Then of course y'all had to be disappointing due to a number of issues. 2020 came along and looked promising until that series against the Heat. 2021 was very disappointing which now leads us to here...

how the Boston Celtics SAVED a dynasty**
Excellent video!

Had to come back to let you know the Celtics are finals bound baby
Kyrie Irving RUINED it. He tried to claim "I am the man" status without earning it in the locker room. So, when the team was super successful without him during a playoff run, nobody wanted to back down and concede to Kyrie Irving, a dude who has NEVER proven that he can carry a team. LOL
AND STILL
The fact that you can’t respect an nba champion when he says “I am the man” just shows you how egotistical the team was. I’m glad kyrie left these mfs. They’re been garbage even since.

I'm a huge Celtics fan, and I watched every second of those IT and Kyrie teams. Hell, I remember jumping up and down when Jeff Green hit that shot to beat the Heat. I clicked on this video ready to critique everything you said but man you killed it. Great explanation as to what happened.
I remember the game against the Heat, the clock went to 0, so I turned the game off. Then they added the 0.6 seconds. lol.. woops.
He been gone for 3 years now tho and they’re worse 🤔🤔
Agreed 💯
You said all that but failed to mention they were on a 17 game win streak with Kylie and was top 10 on both offense and defense. It wasn’t on Kyrie, it was on weak coaching and poor management of rotations.

You still believe this ?
@@thegeruza4565 yep
