The pond was the best thing for the geese. They are the quietest they have ever been. Until you go to feed them, you cant hear them at all. They are so content. 🥰

How can we not love these characters? Low-ret-ta is a Gas! Low-Ret-Ta, Said like I did for me Basset Hound I named "Aunt Bee"..(Ain't Bee) when she done wrong or if calling her in for the evening- I called her Beatrice but Pronounced "Bee-at-ris"..it travels much further. Now, if you remember "a 70's sitcom "Alice," who worked at "Mel's diner" --- a character named "Flo" had a "friend" that had a horse or mule (can't remember everything, from that far back) but she was his Lil darlin'.he had a very heavy accent from the south - just like Flo did -- he called his horse Bee-At-Ris. It tickles me.

Good morning Jason, it was so amusing to me the way Loretta followed you to get her bowl but Gusgus stayed right where he was like he was saying "My bowls right here, I keep telling her to leave her bowl alone". I think Loretta is the cutest and funniest animal on the farm! I love how she follows you and gets super excited for her food. I get a smile every time I see her. I love all the animals, to be honest. My fave channel!

To me the current pond seems larger area even than the Old Cog Hill farm working area was.
The new Cog Hill is so great an improvement and is getting better all the time.
The excellent functioning currently of the big barn , the pens inside and outside, milk room and so much more, shows excellent fioresight, vision and planning you have been able to apply to that big project is outstanding.
But then considering the entire homestead planning, vision and creation, how well it has all turned out, so magnificent, what doubt could have been that the barn would also be a superb result.
This new Cog Hill could hardly be any better, and is still getting better all the time. Sure to be the envy of many other local and remote homesteads and farms, no doubt others planning to duplicate the excellent details at Cog Hill.
All that has not even touched on and considered the gardens, animals, orchard and so much more

Fellow worry wart here. If you've ever been though a major weather or natural event, the worry sticks with a person. Once the pond is fully established and you can see how precipitation affects it, your worries will lessen. As long as everyone is safe and sound, that it all that matters!
You keep being cautious around flooding water. Too many are not, and the repercussions can be the worst. I enjoyed seeing you doing chores again. And of course all the critters.💕

The pond looks great! Ms. Loretta is such a sweetie as long as you do not have piglets around her. She is so done with that! And Misty Dawn Farm also did a great job raising Gus bus. He is so calm, sweet, mellow and has truly been loved on.
Unlike commercial egg farms, you care about your chickens and their lives. That is why you do not force their bodies to produce eggs during the fall/winter months. It would shorten their lives a bit I suspect. Don’t let Ms. Deedee get to those eggs. She might take one and hide it in her bed.❤😊

Yes! The thing is, any hen only has so many eggs stored in her ovaries for her lifetime. So if you push them harder, you are not going to get more eggs overall, just eggs faster. And yes, that takes a toll on the hens. If you care about the quality of animals' lives, as CHF does, you don't do artificial things to them to make them produce unnaturally. You let them enjoy their lives.
Topper is such a sweet boy. He's so handsome with his beautiful beard and it gives him such a look of being wise. ❤

I haven't seen them do that in a long time. But he use to do it a lot with scratch too, now just see it every now & then But they have changed food so maybe think Not needed?? I Loved watching those Chicken run around trying to grab each piece before the others.. LOL
