The pond was the best thing for the geese. They are the quietest they have ever been. Until you go to feed them, you cant hear them at all. They are so content. 🥰
Looks like Lambchop was the thing that took most of the damage from the storm. She looks very dilapidated. Poor baby, but Holly loves her just like that. That sweet Loretta has so much personality! There is no better feeling than giving a snack to my chickens. I believe it is the same for you when you feed your feathered friends. I love the noises they make and how they just gather around. A universal human feeling that I hope doesn't get negated.

The pond looks great! Ms. Loretta is such a sweetie as long as you do not have piglets around her. She is so done with that! And Misty Dawn Farm also did a great job raising Gus bus. He is so calm, sweet, mellow and has truly been loved on. Unlike commercial egg farms, you care about your chickens and their lives. That is why you do not force their bodies to produce eggs during the fall/winter months. It would shorten their lives a bit I suspect. Don’t let Ms. Deedee get to those eggs. Yes! The thing is, any hen only has so many eggs stored in her ovaries for her lifetime. So if you push them harder, you are not going to get more eggs overall, just eggs faster. And yes, that takes a toll on the hens. If you care about the quality of animals' lives, as CHF does, you don't do artificial things to them to make them produce unnaturally. You let them enjoy their lives.

Now, if you remember "a 70's sitcom "Alice," who worked at "Mel's diner" --- a character named "Flo" had a "friend" that had a horse or mule (can't remember everything, from that far back) but she was his Lil darlin'.he had a very heavy accent from the south - just like Flo did -- he called his horse Bee-At-Ris. It tickles me.

To me the current pond seems larger area even than the Old Cog Hill farm working area was. The new Cog Hill is so great an improvement and is getting better all the time. The excellent functioning currently of the big barn , the pens inside and outside, milk room and so much more, shows excellent fioresight, vision and planning you have been able to apply to that big project is outstanding. But then considering the entire homestead planning, vision and creation, how well it has all turned out, so magnificent, what doubt could have been that the barn would also be a superb result. This new Cog Hill could hardly be any better, and is still getting better all the time. Sure to be the envy of many other local and remote homesteads and farms, no doubt others planning to duplicate the excellent details at Cog Hill. All that has not even touched on and considered the gardens, animals, orchard and so much more Nothing but praise due.... ❤❤❤❤❤
