Great comparison video Neeves. Just my opinion, but Reate's overall product line is more consistent in terms of design and quality. WE makes some beautiful knives, but their overall product line isn't as consistently good. For example, I have three WE knives. My grey titanium/black G10 handle, two tone blade Arsenal is one of my favorite knives in my collection. It's sleek, has beautiful lines and I can't say enough good things about it. But my WE Snick is the one knife I'd gladly sell or trade. It looks beautiful in a display case with wood handle and black blade, but the handle is very uncomfortable, the liner lock tears your fingernail apart and the blade shape and size is visibly out of proportion to the handle Reate's design spectrum is much more focused and highly refined. And the Reate Coyote is a grail knife for me, it's so damn beautiful.
Hey Neeves what sharpening system do you recommend? Which one do you use? I was thinking of getting either the work sharp bench top precision or if it’s really worth it paying the $575 for the wicked edge aluminum base similar system. I would like to keep the price down but if the wicked edge is really worth it I would pay it. It does look like the wicked edge probably holds a more steady base.
If the sharp by design had access to the blade hole to reverse flick it would be one of the coolest knives on the market
another great video brother ill see you in the next one
Very interesting. I knew very little about Reate before this.
Very cool video!! I got on the preorder for the new evo typhoon and it will be my first reate! And I’m so freakin stoked lol! So until then I wouldn’t be able to give my opinion but I just wanted to comment bc every time I start to forget about the evo typhoon preorder I see another video haha 🤣
Oh thats awesome, Dude your going to love it, the detent nub is a different kind of action that is super crisp
Awesome video. I just picked up a liong mah warrior 2 v3 made by Reate and I love the knife, the action on it is spectacular.
Thats awesome, we just got a new Reate our selves and I almost got a Warrior still on the fence with someone trying to do a trade.
For Sure. The warrior is my favorite knife by far and I have a decent collection.
Hope you have a great day!
Great video idea!!! 😉. Love it dude nice work
WE Exciton or Reate K1?
Excellent comparison! Both seem to be doing good things I hope some day to have one of each or maybe two or three lol
They are definitely leading the pack especially with USA designers that was production knives done to the highest standard
I would kinda like to see reate put out a budget line
That would be 🔥
Who's more higher on the quality scale Hinderer, reate or a Spartan Harsey
Depends on which reate, spartan and Hinderer are very similar with build quality Hinderer offers many parts to modify while your limited with Spartan
@@NeevesKnives uh okay so I guess when it comes to the scale of overall quailty id be better off with Spartan or hinderer? Sorry for so many questions hope you don't mind
Great video idea!!! 😉. Love it dude nice work. Reate is absolutely crushing top end production imo
Yeah it was a good idea! Wonder where it came from
No competition its the Sharp By Design, Mini Typhoon. Brain Nadue is one of the top knife designer imo. I was luck to get a Void, one of my favorite knives in my collection. It has the best fit & finish, & smoothest action 🎬. If the Mini Typhoon is anything like my Void its a winner 🏆.
I agree between the two and Reate and WE both do lots of colabs, but WE? Is always more in my price range, but you can deny Reate quality
@@NeevesKnives if you want to check out a great WE knife collaboration try Off Grid Knives, Scorpion 🦂. It's very similar in size & looks to the Microtech Socom Elite manual. It is a full ti w/cf inlay frame lock in s35vn. I just picked one up on Amazon for $207, thats a great price for a 4" inch WE tactical folder. Best deal on a high end knife I've got this year. Off Grid Knives has a bunch of knives made by WE in all different price range. Check them out you will thank me . @maxtikander.com
Man I love the Japanese tanto more, and I thought the CF inlay looked better, but I have to say that the drop point with the aspirated milling looks incredible together and I think I like that knife better than the one I had. Even though I liked the individual ingredients of mine better! That's funny to me.
It is funny, Id love to try a full size version of the Typhoon, or more knives whith the SBD detent nub
@@NeevesKnives well I have one on order. When it comes in I can send it your way.
And this is a cool video! Both are excellent manufacturers.
I think it's silly when people say "Reate knives are usually better quality than WE knives"...well of course they are! They are more expensive! It would be rediculous if Reate knives weren't better because they only have 1 knife under $300.
They both offer a similar caliber of quality per dollar spent...it's better to see it that way. It just depends how much you want to spend to figure out which company is best for you. You can go for $200 worth of quality or $350 worth of quality. There is definitely diminishing returns as you go past $200, but to knife people the difference is a perceptible one.
I agree with every bit of what you said, I tend to lean toward WE knives not because i like them more just because they are more in my price range, but I do like that both companies work with a lot of designers
Reate All day Everyday!!
I would have to bypass we this go around. Reate knife looks to have a nice blade geometry and more to my liking. As well as the little differences in the design. It just says more to me without saying anything at all haha.✌✌
I get it, I think they are a bit of a step up, not much just a bit, but WE is more in my price range
@@NeevesKnives most definitely, mine as well. But we can all wish haha. Never know, unrealistic goals can eventually be reached. If you build it they will come😂😂see y'all 2nite on livstream brother. 🤜💯🤛
I wouldn't want to judge the 2. You rarely hear a bad word about either company. I'd say WE gets the nod if value is a factor. You may get a "slightly" less quality of a knife, but it's $100 less. Good comparison sir! Later
I agree, I look at what I can afford and WEis definitely more in my range
I'm more familiar with WE knives, so there's bias here. I can't attest to performance but the WE knives are better to look at than what I've seen from Reate. I like their anodization color choices, the rounded handles and the way their carbon fiber inserts look. And if their budget knives from Civivi have good quality internals I would imagine their flagship knives would be even better at a higher price point.
Reate is one that I think I would need to handle to get a better understanding for what they're about. None of their designs have caught my eye yet but a majority of the community have a positive view of them so I'm not scared away from ever trying one but that price point puts them just out of reach for me. $300 is where I top out for a knife.
Yeah thats the same way with us, but when i am in the market to spend big usually 250 is my mark, but the chaves knives and many others definitely catch my eye, WE knives I know im going to spend high and get high quality, with out having to cross the 250 mark
