When you buy a Rafale, you're sure to be able to operate what you bought ... without risking the US to remotely deactivate it or collect ALL the data around it (the F35 way).

In the entire history of aviation, Russian and American planes have never defeated French planes.
The Israeli Mirage III had destroyed even wreaked havoc on the all the Su and the Russian-made MiGs during the war between Israel and the Arabs.
The Indian Mirage 2000s have always defeated the Pakistani F16s, just as Greece did against the Turks.
The Iraqi Mirages had defeated and even wreaked havoc on the Iranian air force during the war, Iran equipped with American Phantom aircraft.

I love the Americans who come to talk about the F35 in the comments because they have an inferiority complex with the Rafale, at the same time it winds as well as the F35 and is the only plane (with the Mirage 2000) to have beaten the f22

Everyone in the know appreciates the Rafale and has nothing but respect for the pilots. The French Navy flew for about three months including Dissimilar Air Combat Training with Hornets, Super Hornets, F-35s, F-22s and T-38s. The Rafale enjoys excellent sales because it has earned a reputation as a versatile platform. The Super Hornet, for example has only sold to the RAAF. The Rafale while being an expensive 4.5 Aircraft does employ excellent avionics, EW and will continue to improve as new weapons and sensors are added to it. It will be interesting to see what the Indian Air Force reports when they compare their Rafales to the MiG-29s, Su-30MKI and the Navy MiG-29Ks. As far as in training, no platform is undefeated. The F-22 is no different. T-38s, EA-18Gs, Rafales all have had "kills" against the F-22. DACT is training and training is learning. Last year, the 1st Fighter Wing hosted a number of NATO F-35 at Langley,AFB. The pilots flew with and against F-22s,T-38s and the F-16As from Top Aces. I have some friends who fly A-4s and Mirage F-1s and have "killed" everything from F-15Es to F/A-18s to F-22s. The US DoD invests so much money in Contractors as well as NAWDC,Red Flag,Red Flag Alaska, and various Reserve Squadrons because Air Combat is never a done deal. The Rafale has speed, power, sensors, range, impressive weapons loads and can land on French, US and hopefully in the future Indian Aircraft Carriers. Anyone who disregards the capability of the Rafale needs to speak to some real pilots, Aircrew and Operations people.

While your statement about the Dassault Rafale's popularity is accurate, there are additional factors contributing to its appeal. One significant reason is the increasing reluctance of nations to procure Russian-made equipment due to the risk of Western sanctions. Indonesia, despite its longstanding desire to acquire the Sukhoi Su-35, has been compelled to seek alternative options to fill the gaps in its defense capabilities.
The Rafale emerged as a suitable choice, aligning with Indonesia's broader goals of developing a domestic defense industry. While the nation is collaborating with South Korea on the KF-X project, the lack of core technology transfer from the South Koreans has hindered progress. To address this, Indonesia is now exploring the possibility of securing a full transfer of technology (TOT) for the Rafale from Dassault Aviation. However, the French company has reportedly set a condition: Indonesia must commit to purchasing an additional 58 Rafale jets beyond the 42 already ordered.
If this deal materializes, Indonesia could potentially become a significant player in the development of 4.5-generation fighter jets. It's important to note that Indonesia's interest in the Sukhoi Su-35 remains strong, rooted in a long-standing and robust bilateral relationship with Russia. The acquisition of the Rafale is primarily driven by the need to replace aging aircraft like the Hawk 100 and Hawk 200, rather than as a replacement for the potential Su-35 purchase.
Many Indonesians view the threat of US sanctions for purchasing Russian equipment as both hypocritical and counterproductive. It is widely perceived as an attempt by external powers to dictate the domestic affairs of sovereign nations. Indonesia maintains that Russia remains a valuable and trusted partner.

@@woodlabstore Indonesia building Rafale, or any similar aircraft, is a non starter as they have no experience/ expertise in aircraft manufacture, that would take decades to acquire and by then the Rafale would be obsolete. Perhaps a line assembling kit parts is possible but who would certify/guarantee airframes built fully from scratch?
Dassault wouldn't give a TOT agreement to India so I can't see them doing so to anyone and they will not share their Nuclear Protocols with anyone!
SAAB have done a TOT agreement with Brazil, for Gripen E, but that has taken 10 years to develop and for Embraer to begin building its first F39 and that is with a company that has built aircraft for 5 decades + .

all wrong!!! India doesn't care what the USA might say, even Egypt! If the Rafale sells like hotcakes, it is because it has reached an excellent maturity, Russian planes are completely obsolete, even India which bought Rafales have abandoned the SU57 because this plane will be a problem like the SU30 MKI, expensive to maintain, complicated to maintain, unreliable, or not reliable at all, just listen to what the Indian Marshal who manages the Rafales says, he says that the Rafale is an exceptional plane and its man/machine interface almost from another watch, he had his contact with the first Rafale when he was 27 years old, if he had had only 10% of the Rafale's capabilities, his life would have been very different! he does not regret buying the Rafale, they are very easy to maintain, very reliable, efficient, it can do all types of missions easily and switch from one to another during the same flight!! The Rafale is the only 11G+ aircraft in the world, so it can take load factors higher than all other aircraft! Rafale C weighs 9850 kg, it carries 9500 kg of armament, it is a record for an aircraft less than 10 tons! and 14650 kg in armament and fuel, yet another Rafale! But, no one has yet seen the Rafale F5, future iteration of the Rafzle with extraordinary capabilities, such as a revolutionary radar, the RBE2 XG or TARAMMAA, capable of detecting an F35 at + 200 km, or detecting tiny that current fighter jets cannot detect! and the ability to be escorted by 1 to several drones! and this, in only 6 years!! many have Rafale F3R, France has been receiving the F4 version for several months! first series fighter plane with artificial intelligence to manage maintenance, with the future radar, it will be equipped with a second artificial intelligence! the Rafale has not finished its career, future Rafales will be exceptional!!!

Croatia wanted a cheap replacement for its old Migs and so it asks for offers and you always get a better deal if you chat with several people. Israel offered used F16s ( 12 for $500m ) but the US vetoed an export license, maybe because they offered new Block 70 F16 . Sweden pitched Gripen and Rafale eventually won .
When a deal is struck you always hear a figure but reality is blurred by many factors like a loan price, or offset even training of pilots might cost $5m each do you get a maintenance/guarantee package etc. Few countries have endless money like Norway and are deemed reliable to allow export licenses etc. That isn't to say a certain degree of politics comes into play. Seldom is the choice straight forward.

@@backtotheblak great question with an answer that may surprise you.. they already owned it. Yes, the Afghan government already owned, were lended, or given most of that equipment. The Blackhawks, M-16a4s, Humvees, MRAPs, NVGs.. all sold to the Afghan Security Forces to be used against the Taliban.
“That’s what was left behind. Not that the United States just walked away and abandoned a bunch of weapons in a pile in Afghanistan. That's simply not historically accurate.” - John Kirby, U.S. National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications.

People on here saying that the Rafale is better than the F-35 are either showing their ignorance, they're a Rafale fanboy or my favorite... Hate for anything US. While it is true that the Rafale is a true workhorse and a great multi role plane, the F-35 will simply fire his missile, turn around and think what else ger has to do while the Rafale piolet is still trying to find the F-35 on radar. There is no competition. The best bet is to catch an F-35 pilot hungover while flying. If he manages to do that and engage in a dogfight, then the Rafale may have an advantage. BUT... that's only until the F-35 gets its new engines. Then, it's bye bye Rafale. And as for those who just hate anything American.... You will be the first to get down on your knees and beg the US to protect you when Russia or China comes for you. Sure, you can say NATO. But who do you think makes up NATO's strength. 90% of NATO's strength is because of the US. I love the hate that we Americans get. keep it up. Those tears taste great!!!

The problem is that you are either an F-35 fanboy or you are ignorant. The Rafale does not need "relative physical stealth" because its stealth comes from its SPECTRA suite which blinds enemy radars and makes dozens of bridges appear on the radar screen that are anything but the Rafale. This is how to make an aircraft "stealthy" without sacrificing its flight capabilities, without costing billions of dollars for non-scalable and already practically obsolete technology.

When they see how they ended up in Afghanistan, Ukraine, Vietnam, Syria... Your US proxy puppets. Hardly anyone will be crazy to ask for your help, he must be ripe for the madhouse! All of them ended up as fugitives in the US, traitors to their people. Like in Cuba, Vietnam, Afghanistan when you fell out of the plane to escape... Hardly anyone will ask for your help, they would have to be totally crazy! Also, in 90% of cases, no one asked for you, but you occupied some countries or parts of territories, sovereign countries for the sake of your hegemony and benefits, for a military base or for the purpose of stealing resources and installed puppets in power, in the occupied territories. The puppets are mostly terrorists, Nazis ...These are the same ones who previously fell out of helicopters and planes while fleeing. Like in Ukraine, or in the occupied territory of the south of Serbia (Kosovo) ...
As for the F-35, how many of them are actually flying and how many of them are really in good condition, how many of them have already crashed due to a malfunction?! problems with the engine, electronics ... And he didn't even participate in any war?! You call that an airplane?!
The fact that you write that Stealth technology is something special and that it represents some advantage?! Only fools can imagine such nonsense?! The F-177 was shot down over Serbia with the NEVA-125 air defense system from the 50s of the last century!
