I agree, helping people is great and one of the most enjoyable things to do. That's why I give away free TH-cam intros. It doesn't hurt me and it helps someone else.
Drift0r, thanks for the commentary and thought provoking subject. These kinds of commentaries during COD videos are such a great thing. I can only imagine all the people who's perspective on things will change after hearing your thoughts. Also, just a general thumbs up to you for working enriching thought and learning into the subject of gaming and COD. :D
Secularism/Materialism first emerged in Renaissance Italy around the same time as the start of the Protestant Reformation in Germany. Basically materialism developed while the role that religion played in peoples' lives declined. This is my personal opinion, but I would much rather live in a society where the issues we face are secular ones, rather than religious.
Love these kind of videos and commentaries Drift0r! You're like the only video gamer I know whose a critical thinker and likes to think about these kinds of things. Keep posting more of these videos in the future and its good to mix it up every once in a while.
To anybody having issues loading, or with quality. TH-cam is just taking its time processing the video properly, it does happen from time to time, come back in an hour and try it again, its usually a temporary thing lasting an hour or 2.
Everything you said Drift0r I 100% agree with. Actually I used to play cod. I don't anymore because I can't afford it and my internet connection is terrible but I've subscribed to your channel (I watch all your vids) just because I like you and your philosophy type videos. Sometimes I feel disappointing that I can't get with the club so to speak but it helps to know that experiences make us happy longer than material gifts. This was taught to me by a vid I watched on social psychology, and you can buy happiness by giving to others. There's a whole TED talk on it but I fear I am oversimplifying again. Anyway I hope this comment acts as present to you.
I don't play Ghosts. So technicaly, there is no reason to be subscribed to your channel. But this type of videos are THE reason why I am subscribed to your channel. Good job, Drift0r.
i totally agree!!! I literally leave my house looking for someone to help, Im addicted to the great feeling you get when you arrive somewhere and somebody is stuck, and I am capable of solving their situation!!!
honestly i would prefer to be with my friends than my family... my family aren't bad it's just... you know... boring. i know how christmas will be. my parents will argue and my presents will fade. i guess i want something new...
Well put driftor. I didn't know engineers thought about that sort of stuff. There is a big difference between owning nice things and identifying yourself by what you own. I think you explained that concept quite well.
honestly i find more satisfaction watching others have fun then myself, thats why i like to make people laugh or buy them things or share my food, because it means more to them than to me
As a teenager, granted I like the presents of christmas, but however I look more forward to playing board games with my family, or just the overall experience. When i wake up i love going into my parents room and waking them up, I love walking around the house on christmas day with the christmas music playing, which is further emphasizing Driftor's point on experiences > objects. Whether it being a nostalgic experience, new experience, an exciting experience it will be much more enjoyable and last much longer than any object will.
I think its shitty how folks who've decided to not consume more than they need because they care about preserving finite resources are now called "dirty hippies".
ive never disliked one one your commentaries, you communicate your view on the subject and give reasons why you think this way. btw i agree with your point of view according to materialism
So I play this game called War Thunder, and the developer occasionally says "Get this rare P-63A-10! It's completely different than the P-63C-5!" When in theory it's just a P-63C with 5 more cannon rounds and a cooler paintjob. P-63C and P-63A are completely the same planes.
The top of your screen was cut off in the video. In the normal gameplay screen, when you open the mini menu in the top right, the first spot is cut off. This is mainly an aesthetic critique, but something to be mindful of in the future. Interesting commentary btw......I wonder what your thoughts on globalization would be? Perhaps this is a subject for another commentary. Scouts Out.
Drift0r, I'm learning about this in school. The unit question is "How does the American Dream fit with the idea of sustainability?" Ads basically tell you "You suck, get this then you won't." But we can consume too much and waste the materials.
Speaking of Christmas - I feel like those of us who play Ghosts on PC should buy Driftor a copy of Ghosts for PC so that he can play it and experience the crap we have since Day 1. So that when someone popular puts a video of what we've had to go through maybe Activision and IW will finally take notice and actually fix the PC version. Maybe then we can get basic things that we're missing like: - Anti-cheat implemented - PC optimization - Making the game work with SLI and Crossfire - Fixing the stutter and lag
Yet another real life commentary that makes me realise that there are other human beings on the internet , btw visiting other countries and experiencing their cultures is one of the best things I can do with my money , but I guess living in Europe makes that a lot easier
Giving is an incredible way to help people. And lets be honest, everyone in this world has needed, or possibly even more frequently WANTED help with something at some point in their life. My girlfriend has made a huge impact on my life as far as me wanting to help other people. One instance that comes to mind was buying food and water for a homeless man I saw outside of WalMart one day with his dog. Never in a million years would 22 or even 25 year old me had done that but just the feeling that came about from helping that man and wanting to help him, it truly is hard to beat. It makes you want to help more and while what you may be doing for someone else be it listening to them when they are in trouble, helping them out when they are in financial need, or just supporting them when they are faced with a difficult situation, it may not seem like much to you at the time but it hopefully means the world to the person receiving the help.
"Your house is just the place where you keep safe your stuff while you go out to get more stuff." -George Carlin The question would be: What is a man if not the amount of things that he gets throughout his life? Like friendships, relationships, and of course, stuff?
The goal of all goals is a spiritual goal. The thing that people want above all is happiness, and these companies are trying to manipulate people to believe that their product will make them happy. It is our job to make sure that we are careful and responsible with our money and purchases.
Drift0r, yet another great video. You are officially my favourite poster of gaming videos. You're empirically minded, obviously intelligent and you love Halo, all things that I can appreciate as I'd like to think I share similar attributes. You seem fairly whimsical when it comes to weapon choices in Ghosts; it's nice to see someone who doesn't stick to the 'pro' class setups and just uses the kit that they enjoy using. As an aside, I can't find your Armour Piercing video which is the one I want the most. I was under the impression that Armour Piercing ignores Juggernaut armour and yet I've come across a few situations in which I've been unable to kill a Juggernaut while using Armour Piercing ammo on a Remington R5! Does Juggernaut also provide a health bonus to players or am I missing something?
Am I the only one who found it ironic that as Drift0r is talking about how buying things just because you Need The Latest Thing is in itself a bad thing. His newly bought Must Have Wolf comes on screen and takes center stage. I enjoy your rambles and love the in depth series.
I'm a very quiet person and as a fellow youtuber I feel your pain. But I can understand how drift0r manages this. He talks about things that interest him. Things that he thinks about not because he needs a video topic, but because he wants to think about them. Things that he can actually talk about BECAUSE he thinks about them. Hope that makes sense and hope that helps! :P
You should see how he is while doing the commentary. It's amazing. He does it all in one take minus the burp. Yeah, every time I've watched him record a commentary, there is always one burp. haha. He just goes back and deletes the burp and he's done. Makes me feel like a total noob. I need to start, and stop, and redo that part, etc.
If I had time I may get into COD commentating because I am one of those people like him who does just want to rant about stuff all the time. it comes naturally
I wish I am living in US now. The lifestyle still considerably fine compare to Asia. Be an Asian, every young adults, it is a need to own a car and a house cause it is an indicate status of you. If you don't own a house and a car, people (especially relative) will always look down and disrespect you. I hate that cause I couldn't enjoy my earning to have fun. Second, Asia is not land of opportunity, you couldn't do what you like or passionate of, people want to listen is you be doctor, accountant, lawyer, engineer or business man else people will say you never do anything success in your life. This is so stressful.
I agree.Experiences are better than buying a material thing which you can't do anything with or will improve your life. I also think the hype for something is more what people care about than owning it. When you get it you don't think it's so great or don't use it. An example is the fallout 4 pipboy edition. When I saw that it looked so cool but I know that once I get it it will just sit on my shelf. I also started thinking before i buy something weather it will be worth it and trying to find ways to enjoy it without spending money.
For the people that are uber picky about how people view/use materialism. There is a difference between needs and wants. Sure we all want some things, but we all have bills to pay. Maybe you are a little off the mark or maybe more right than I am noticing right now. But we both just ended up having a different view on the holidays. Thanksgiving wasn't necessarily about being thankful for your material goods but in our family more about being thankful for our interactions. Maybe this really hit home when we lost a family member on the holiday but we make sure to be thankful for one another and not the turkey we ate. And Christmas has always been a thing in my family where we do what we do because we aren't doing it until next time. Our close family, mother, sister, father, use it as an excuse for us to get each other exactly what we wanted but we held back on getting. A new pair of headphones or something like that. Because we weren't going to be doing that again until next christmas. But for our extended family and our friends we always made sure to try and do the most thoughtful thing we could for them. I spent more time putting together the perfect gift for my best friend than I ever had worrying about something for myself. And I hope they love it when they get it in their hands. A friend of mine just surprised me and another with copies of DayZ Standalone as an early gift, not so we can be like "yea we own it" but so we can have some time to play together again.
i am so there with you on the buying stuff for other people. i come from a very small village in mexico and here i am in america. I dont have a job but when i do get money, the majority of that money goes to spending on other people. Buying stiff for my girlfriend, paying for friends food, whatever. I feel complete living in the small mobile home with my family. i dont really need much else. But then again, as i said, i come from a different place, which a different state of mind is associated with that, so i am fine with minimal things. its more than what i would have back home.
The thing that i like most about Drift0r is that he is very very intelligent.
I agree, helping people is great and one of the most enjoyable things to do. That's why I give away free TH-cam intros. It doesn't hurt me and it helps someone else.
saw ur channel man. ur intros are actually really cool. but what about your own? :D
Aditya Suresh Thanks and what about my own?
man im glad these old videos are showing up in my recommended, i wish you did philosophical videos like these more often than you do
Yuh
Drift0r, thanks for the commentary and thought provoking subject. These kinds of commentaries during COD videos are such a great thing. A monk I have been friends with for years, once told me, "the more things you own, the more those things own you."
A very late reply, but damn thats so sad true.
Johnny Black Ikr
Drift0r the grand philosopher
Hey, not ALL hippies are dirty. Only most of them...
summary - People like to buy stuff. Don't buy stuff recklessly, there is better stuff to spend money on.
thank you drift0r, it's been awhile since one of these more philosophical commentaries, this right here, is the reason I am subbed to you my friend.

I like that "deeper" non CoD related Commentary.
Hope you will make more of them in the future
To anybody having issues loading, or with quality. TH-cam is just taking its time processing the video properly, it does happen from time to time, come back in an hour and try it again, its usually a temporary thing lasting an hour or 2.
I actually thought this commentary was about materialism in cod ghosts and what bullets can go through.
+Morax ???
Lol
Everything you said Drift0r I 100% agree with. Actually I used to play cod. Great commentary, nice thinking as well. Thank you for talking about this, I feel like
it helped somehow.
Its always great to hear someone who actually knows what they are talking about. Good one man .
I don't play Ghosts. So technicaly, there is no reason to be subscribed to your channel. But this type of videos are THE reason why I am subscribed to your channel. Good job, Drift0r.
I love these type of commentaries. I remember when driftor used to do these a lot
Love how you always relate the gameplay to the topic.
i totally agree!!! I literally leave my house looking for someone to help, Im addicted to the great feeling you get when you arrive somewhere and somebody is stuck, and I am capable of solving their situation!!!
I enjoy listening to your opinions drift0r. Please do more of these. Thanks. Happy holidays.
I love your commentaries. I look forward to your vids! THANK YOU DRIFT0R!
I like these kind of philisophical questions and videos Drift. Nice work.
A.) I really LOVE your commentary and continuity of thought. 2.) I agree with a lot of what you present here. D.) Happy holidays!
A) 2.) D.)... ok then
Great commentaries they are very entertaining, proffesional and well though out keep up the good work
im getting an error, which pisses me off, because i love when you talk about things like this
No you’re not
It's nice to hear a YTuber actually be a good dude. Merry Xmas man.
Yay, i love these commentaries
I love these commentary style videos!
Materialism and Commercialism go hand in hand with christmas.
My dad got really mad at me because I didn't want any presents for christmas.
honestly i would prefer to be with my friends than my family... my family aren't bad it's just... you know... boring. i know how christmas will be. my parents will argue and my presents will fade. i guess i want something new...
TheSurferPenguin I agree with you. It's much more fun when you're with your friends than with your family.
drift0r is the opposite of the call of duty stereotype
Great vid, havent been watching your black ops 2 vids but i love these discussions.
Now this is what I follow you for. Great topic.
Well put driftor. I didn't know engineers thought about that sort of stuff. There is a big difference between owning nice things and identifying yourself by what you own. I think you explained that concept quite well.

I think its shitty how some people now days go out of their way to find something to be offended by.

Thank you so much for another one of these.
Best 10 minutes of my life?
I like these for deep commentaries that you do bro
Ooo yay. Intellectual discussions! I love it when gaming crosses with this ^_^
Nice video drift0r. Keep up the good work.
so true, so many people go though life never learning this

Great commentary, I think about this all the time too.
Yay, back to the philosophical talks!
This isn't really philosophical, more of a morality talk.
Jacob Diaz Either way, it's not another video talking about CoD
Matt McConaha and thats always a good thing
Yet another real life commentary that makes me realise that there are other human beings on the internet , btw visiting other countries and experiencing their cultures is one of the best things I can do with my money , but I guess living in Europe makes that a lot easier
very good commentary, really made me think about life.
As always, fucking amazing video Drift0r. :)
Happy holidays.
I like how he talks about serious topics.

Great commentary, just earned a subscriber :D
That was a very good video. I certainly agree with the experiences thing.
im so bad at commentaries i dont get how you guys just talk for 10 minutes straight
just think of it as a rant
I know! I have to come up with odd things just to keep talking xD
I'm a very quiet person and as a fellow youtuber I feel your pain. But I can understand how drift0r manages this. He talks about things that interest him. Nice commentary Drif, I agree. Some nice points.
Thanksgiving has transformed into a period to prepare for Black Friday lol.
Hey Drift0r, can you be my math, science, English, and history teacher?
Wish u did more vids like this
I think Drift0r is one of my favorite TH-camrs simply because of some of the videos he makes. Hell, he could be a philosopher or a psychologist
It is awsome when he just talks he makes me feel smart

Great video Drift0r
Awesome episode!
That was a brilliant video
For the people that are uber picky about how people view/use materialism. There is a difference between needs and wants. Sure we all want some things, but we all have bills to pay. you sir,jus earn yourself a subscriber! you talk real facts in this video
Thank you Drift0r! :)
very thought provoking, and interesting.
No intro? Nevertheless, I really love these videos. Good job Drift0r. :3
I agree. Buying Experience is better. For me, it is worth dropping a big amount of money to travel, go to a sporting event, go to an amusement park etc.
great video and sight.
Ultimately materialism must run a delicate balance in our lives. I do however agree with the statement of preferring experiences over possessions. Buying a new phone never made me happy as i saw it as more of an upgrade on my old one. Traveling is what i ultimately would do with my spare income in the near future.
For future reference. Just because you spent twenty-five bucks on an item ticketed thirty dollars doesn't mean you saved money. You still spent it.
I completely agree that money is better invested in experience as opposed to objects
watching those fucking spawns just reminded me why I don't play ghost anymore
i am so there with you on the buying stuff for other people. i come from a very small village in mexico and here i am in america.
Nice commentary! Keep it up
Materialism like how I really want cod ghost putting out before vid
Thank you for being a descent human being with some tact and class.
