I bought a vintage finish P1 Tenor in Oct 2022. I love the horn, other than it's weight! I have tried many mouthpieces on it and it really shows the differences between them. One oddity is some of my vintage pieces, like Brilhart Great Neck Ebolin and Tonalin sit way back with barely any shank on the neck cork to intonate. Those Great Neck models really round out the tone and it sounds super rich with them. The neck cork on mine came too tapered at the end causing these "way back" positions to be a precarious. I am a tech, so I can re-do the neck cork. In contrast a "by Brilhart" metal Level Aire sits way forward covering the entire neck cork, and also sounds fantastic. My Wanne GAIA piece sits mid way, as does my Meyer New York piece. Great experiences with many purchases from Quinn over the years! (Including this one).
Love the way he sounds with that Gaia. That seems to pair well with the Pro One.
Show!
