Black Diamond Pool, the one that had an explosion is visible at 2:23 in the video. A little bit of background: The complex it is a part of is well known for having powerful hydrothermal explosions, similar to this one. We know that the area formed between 1902-1912 through these explosions. A few other notable explosions were in 1918, 1925, and 1931. The complex was reactivated during 2006 as well as 2009 and most recently 2016. There is also evidence of an eruption in May of this year, but nothing on this scale.
Don’t worry, the geysers and how and when they erupt are separate from the volcanic system. So this explosion, and even if there was one 1000 times as large, would not be an indicator of a Yellowstone eruption.
I wasn't planning on posting this video on TH-cam because its a short one, decided to post it today because of the eruption so people can get a look at the area. Im not sure if black diamond is on this vid which is the one that blew.
Out of curiosity does anyone know if it has anything to do with the suv that drove into it a week and half ago did it leak gas and oil and that had something to do with it or is some other event that caused it?
The suv drove into Semi Centennial Geyser which is located on the left side of the Grand loop road. Nobody was hurt because semi centennial only is around 110-115 Fahrenheit
Most of the springs and geysers are not connected to each other. Even if a large amount of gas (either liquid or actual gas) got into a pool. It may effect the specific pool, but it wouldn’t effect any others. The one that the vehicle fell into was quite far away and thus could not have caused the explosion.

Was this after or before it erupted?!

Looks like the eruption took out quite a bit of ground and part of the walkway bridge in the aftermath.
