I just found your video and the timing is perfect since we just bought a Sunfish. With no recent sailing experience, we're a bit apprehensive but you make it look wonderful and not too complicated. Thanks!
I see a block with a cleat for your boom line... Excellent! ( I Like the idea that you can sail with one hand free, instead of having to hold on to the boom line all the time...)
J Kelly Nolan what a fantastic video. As a teenager growing up on Lake Bomoseen, Vt. (probably not too far from where you filmed this) I sailed my Sunfish sailboat on many a day under similar conditions. On Saturday's we had a regatta of approximately 25 Sunfish sailboats for a race. I sailed my Sunfish on the lake under all types of weather and conditions. Brings back some great memories. I wish I were on Lake Bomoseen sailing my Sunfish. Thank you for the great memories.
As soon as I saw that dark water and mountains in the background I knew it was the Adirondacks. Every summer, as a child, we would spend a week at pyramid lake, in the Adirondacks, where we sailed a sunfish around a small island. Some of the best times of my life.
Great video buddy!!! You had that baby cookin!!!! I used to love sailing those at boy scout camp!!! Until you flipped it and the mast falls out!!!! LOL Good fun!!!!!!
Thanks Joe. I did flip once (before I started videoing)! I'm off to Algonquin Park for a 7 day canoe trip next week then I'll have to check my fall/winter wood supply and cut a few more rounds so I can use the sledge hammer you gave me. Take care.
Actually, you can see the swivel cleat when I grab the rope at this time in the video: th-cam.com/video/cp-1Lj4BuEo/w-d-xo.html its located right in the middle of the boat in front of the foot well. I hope this helps.

Just take it out and play with it. Nobody taught me. A little logic and intelligence and you'll be flying across the water in no time. Enjoy.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful and splashing day

Nice dock approach to put the bow into the wind
Thanks man...

Do you actually have your main sheet cleated? If so, where is said cleat mounted?
Linda, there is a cleat for the rope to the boom but I don't recall its location. This was a borrowed boat at a friends camp. Thanks for watching.

Which lake? I grew up summers on Brant Lake.
A small lake on the east side of Lake George in West Fort Ann.
a strap? or just the roof of the footwell?
You really dont need a strap unless you are going to go out in high winds. Even with that you don't need to.
Thank you for not drowning the natural sounds out with crappy music! I automatically down-vote anyone does that.
