Pure golden wisdom. I am a Filipino who reads Kant, Hume, Hegel, Smith, and Marx. But ever since I read Frederick Douglass, David Livingstone, Martin Luther King, and the slave narratives, I began to see the power of black faith. Virtually every area in modern culture - music, arts, sports, even powerful spiritual worship had been copied from black culture, faith, and worship. Even glossolalia that has swept through the modern churches began from the faithful example of a blind black pastor at Azusa St. The culture of black people has truly enriched our shared global modern cultural experience.

These kind of borrowers and thieves alliances inevitably happen precisely because they're all highly desperate people!
It is no easy task to build a house of fashion and it is an exponentially more difficult task yet to maintain a fashion house's status!
As a lifelong auto enthusiast, this reminds me of how stunningly impressed I was when Mercedes Benz had the astounding intelligence to bring the iconic AMG aftermarket brand in-house and make it an official corporate brand.
I have rarely seen this kind of highly flexible intelligence outside of the hyper-practical island hopping campaigns of Hemispheric Command Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz.

wow Ari you rock! I have so much love and respect for people of color, God created the color of our skin for His glory, it's not right that people are bullied for the color of their skin, and also for growing up poor, the poor people have more 'wisdom' than the elite. Humility means everything, and staying humble even when one becomes successful, that is absolutely beautiful. Thx so much Ari, God bless you and Dapper Dan!!!😄❤

I love my people and love that bit by bit, story by story... Our hearts, minds, and souls are being uplifted for the strength, determination, focus, patience, love, and beauty they bear.

I grew up on Chicago and lived downtown and in the South Loop before it became yuppy. At my doctor's office at UIC near West Side.. there are pictures all over of what Chicago and Maxwell street looked like in the 40s-60s. We need to keep this affluent black culture in the forefront of everyone's minds. We also need to change the system that let's people lose their lives to drugs and incarceration. There needs to be a better way. Our entire civilization depends on it.

[ 1:26 ] In the 80s, when the man who would later go on and become the 45th U.S. President, was still somewhat articulate. His former tone sounded similar to late-90s Putin under Yeltsin. President Trump had a style and speech patterns that could be described as an "assertive-Ivanka-like tone." I'm not sure why he abandoned it.
I don't want to address my political differences with President Trump, but now he's almost unrecognizable and incoherent when he rants at his rallies or does a TV interview.
It's my opinion, but as long as he doesn't discuss the benefits of Covid-19 vaccines + booster shots, his base won't abandon him. He tries too hard to NOT sound like the college-education elitist New York Democrat from the 80s.

I can respect people who fight their way up from beneath a weight of oppression, racism, and stigmatisation through determination, hard work, and guts. However, this aspirational worship of money, glitz, and the icons of the wasteful wealthy and idle rich is shallow and facile and it encapsulates so much that is wrong with the modern USA... and sadly with much of the black community over there. I'm sure there is a rich, vibrant, and authentic culture in places like Harlem, so why do they need to fawn over the symbols of the fashion aristos who produce nothing of real worth or value? The idolisation of fashion labels is one of the saddest and most depressing aspects of modern culture in the USA, and here in Europe too, and it's especially depressing when you see this influencing working class kids (black or white) into thinking that the label on their clothes or shoes or sunglasses etc. actually says something about their worth as people.

I agree with your comment about fashion . Only thing you missed out is that society has conditioned people that success and being valued must reflect on your clothing. I have stopped buying luxury brands at age 22 and started saving for a house . since us millennials have a crippling college debts. But you would be surprised how I was treated compared to when I wore expensive sh*t even though I wear nice clothes. I have friends who still live at home and can’t put deposit for a rent coz they spend everything on cars , clothes, bags etc. Within six years I’m almost done with paying off my debt and my fiancé and I are looking a house to purchase. I believe it’s even worse now then before with the fashion , luxury brands obsession.

As a white European, I always wondered why black Americans were so into Gucci. If this is all correct he seems to have had an incredible impact on African-American fashion. Gucci then seems to have used a white designer who literally did black face golliwog designs and put them on clothing probably thinking that would appeal to African-Americans. Instead, it got them a boycott and this is clearly a face-saving attempt.
The Gucci golliwog blackface clothing they produced is so wrong it is hilarious. It honestly looks like an Onion joke as you cannot believe someone was so out of touch that they thought using golliwogs and blackface in designs would get them credibility rather than disgust.
I'm glad Gucci did the right thing...when all other options were exhausted.

You confuse public health policy with fascism. A true example of fascism would be refusing to commit to the peaceful transfer of power and using the weight of the presidency in a lame attempt to overthrow an American election.

Wow!!!! He said it all! Black culture is not struggle culture. It is not violent culture. It has had to survive via maladaptive ways because of outside oppression which caused it to put pressure on itself. We, as a people, have to remember who we were before the pressure was placed on us and caused us to create maladaptive responses.

Ari and Dapper Dan, unstoppable champions of the people. I love black, latino, and native american culture. Critical race theory is absolutely essential for an educated society that values and cherishes and respects all cultures. This is our shared humanity to understand and celebrate.

A custom Made Dapper Dan suit was better than the cheap stuff Gucci was producing in the 80s....These European fashion houses have been stealing from Black people for decades

Wow I can’t believe Mr. Dan is in his 70’s 💁🏽‍♀️
I am happy for him! Happy he’s from a time before these drugs ripped our households apart, from the foundation! We were happy in our segregation, we weren’t rich but we we happy thriving people in whatever Borough we were in! Our problems were being force into neighborhoods to attend their schools - Then this crack shxt hit - and a lot of us went into foster care and residential treatment centers because our parents died when we were 4 and 5 and so forth!
Tell your story Mr. Dapper Dan, these white people that never been in or a part of our segregation “hate us” and don’t even know us! We are the peoples couture 💁🏽‍♀️🙌🏽🖤💜💙

If they were smart he never would have been shut down. They would have let him lease the brand.
Dan was keeping it real. Real gangstas don't want people to live their lifestyle. And a lot of us were concerned about crack babies, but we make it seem now like we weren't asking for things to change.

Wow!!!! I lived and worked in New York City from the mid 1970's to the mid 1990's. I lived in Harlem on 133rd. between St. Nicholas Avenue and Adam Clayton Powell Blv. The most fascinating part for me was Harlem was a living and open history of Black culture in America no telling who you would encounter on the streets of Harlem and the stories of their lives, man do I still miss those days.
